Rules of Biomancy: A LitRPG Healer Fantasy

Book 2 Afterword

Hello again.

As some of you might remember, I'm Buller, the author of Rules of Biomancy. Like last time, I thank you for reading this book of mine! I've wanted to write it for a long time. A really long time for book 2, specifically. There's been a lot of hurdles getting this last half of the book out, but it's done now, and I'm happy so many of you stayed around to read it.

Following tradition, I'll separate my thoughts from this point on.

Oh god, that ending.

I know, right? It went very fast at the end. The ending itself, and the deaths that came with it, were hinted at in the first chapters of this book, but to actually write them out was quite something. The idea of Serenova losing did cross my mind in the early drafts for this series, but that was scrapped. The new generations had to win the fight, while the old slowly faded away.

That's a big theme of this series, which I want to continue.

Aleksi : (

The giant's death fits that theme. If you're all as sad about him leaving as I am, you might be surprised to know that he was meant to die at the end of book 1. The outline specified his demise as one of Elijah's early reasons to change. Obviously, I fell too in love with writing about Aleksi, but the plot demanded his death at some point anyway.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

Honestly, the idea of the main characters needing to survive the entire series feels a little constrained. If the reader believes that the character will survive any hurdle, that they walk away from every fight, you lose some tension in your writing. While I do try not to fall into the trap of making characters die for quick shock value, this won't be the last major death.

Anyway.

By all that is holy, what is that upload schedule??

I warned you all, 375 days ago, that the upload schedule for book 2 would be hectic. At that time, I thought that meant 'it's going to take up to 5-6 months to finish this series.' I did not mean 'it's going to take a full year for one book,' but life has a habit of surprising us all. My current goal is to finish book 3 within the next 3-4 months, but we'll see what happens.

When is the next chapter coming out?

I've got the rough outline for book 3 ready, but I do want to spend the next few days doing something more detailed. Expect to see a new chapter Saturday/Sunday.

So... yeah. I think that covers everything. If anybody has questions, feel free to ask in the comments. I thank you all again for reading this book of mine.

Here's some art I think you might enjoy:
