Chapter 8: The War begins
Everyone turned to see a man levitating above the battlefield.
Supreme Commander Aish, a God-ranked warrior, radiated an aura of sheer power. His eyes glowed faintly as he raised his hand, and the air around him shimmered.
The intelligent monsters charged, but Aish's psychic powers crushed them mid-stride. Their bodies crumpled to ash under the weight of his telekinetic grip.
"This," Aish said coolly, "is how you execute a mission."
The soldiers erupted into cheers, their morale surging.
The cheers were short-lived as the fifth intelligent monster emerged, snatching several soldiers and smashing them into the ground. Blood and screams filled the air.
Before anyone could react, another figure appeared—a man wielding a gleaming sword that seemed to hum with energy.
"Ganya!" someone shouted.
The prince of the Saviors moved with incredible speed, his almighty sword slicing through the monster with ease. The creature let out a final roar before collapsing, its body cleaved in two.
The battlefield fell silent as Ganya sheathed his sword. "Mission accomplished," he said
simply.
Scene: The Aftermath
With the barrier restored and the monsters defeated, the survivors regrouped. Jerome,
battered but alive, removed his armor and joined the others.
"If this hard is the beginning then the end would be a disaster," he says in a dark tone.
Vairaj, however, wasn't laughing. His eyes scanned the battlefield until they landed on Zoya. She was leaning against a wall, blood seeping from a deep wound on her side.
"Zoya!" Vairaj sprinted to her, his heart pounding.
She looked up, her face pale but defiant. "I'm fine, Vairaj. Don't make a scene."
Ignoring her protests, he crouched down and lifted her onto his back.
"Vairaj, I can walk—",Zoya said.
"Shut up and hold on," he snapped, his voice thick with worry.
Zoya rested her head against his shoulder, her voice soft. "Are you... happy now?"
Vairaj didn't answer. His mind was too focused on getting her to safety.
Scene: The Reinforcement Base
At the nearby city serving as a reinforcement base, medics rushed to treat the wounded.
Vairaj refused to leave Zoya's side, pacing anxiously outside her room.
Jerome and Aaron found him there, both looking as exhausted as he felt.
"She'll be okay," Jerome said, placing a hand on Vairaj's shoulder.
Vairaj nodded, his fists clenched. "She has to be."
Inside the room, Zoya clutched the locket around her neck, a faint smile on her lips. Despite the pain, she felt a strange sense of peace knowing Vairaj was there.
---
The battle for Fester City was over, but the scars it left behind would stay with them forever.
Scene: Hospital and Quarters
Zoya lay asleep in the hospital bed, her face pale but peaceful. The medics had assured
everyone that she would recover, but it would take time.
Meanwhile, Vairaj was escorted to the officers' quarters for a debriefing about the battle. His mind, however, was still on Zoya,
replaying every moment of the chaos and loss they had endured.
---
Scene: Aaron in Isolation
Aaron sat in a sterile, brightly lit room, surrounded by scientists and researchers from the Saviors' study team. They meticulously scanned his body, collected data, and asked questions about his experience using the "Ultimate Warrior" power.
"How did it feel when the power activated?" one researcher asked.
Aaron leaned back, his eyes narrowing. "It wasn't something I controlled. It was like the
power found me, not the other way around. I felt... unstoppable, like every punch and swing of the axe was fueled by pure instinct."
Another researcher scribbled notes. "And the axe? Does it feel connected to your power?"
Aaron nodded. "Completely. It's like an extension of me."
After the session, Aaron was allowed to leave isolation. He found Logan and Raven sitting in the common area, their faces somber.
Scene: Conversation About the Fallen
Aaron approached them quietly, pulling a chair up to join the circle. For a moment, none of them spoke. The weight of Ethan's and Clara's deaths hung heavily in the air.
"They didn't deserve to go like that," Aaron finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Logan sighed, staring at the ground. "This world is hell, Aaron. Maybe they're better off
now... no more suffering, no more fear."
Raven glanced at Logan, her expression a mix of sadness and frustration. "That's one way to see it. But they had dreams, lives they wanted to live. We owe it to them to make sure their deaths mean something."
Aaron clenched his fists. "And we will. Every monster we kill will be for them."
At that moment, Jerome entered, his usual lighthearted demeanor replaced with
seriousness. "Guys," he said, "Supreme Commander Aish wants to meet with all the warriors who fought in the battle. Let's go."
Scene: The Meeting with Supreme
Commander Aish
The warriors gathered in a large hall, the room buzzing with tension. Many soldiers bore fresh scars from the battle, both physical and emotional.
Supreme Commander Aish stood at the front, his imposing presence commanding silence as he began to speak.
"You all fought bravely," Aish said, his voice steady and authoritative. "Each of you faced the monsters head-on, knowing the risks. But I want to know: What did you think during the
battle? What was going through your mind as you fought for survival and for the lives of
others?"
A young soldier, barely older than Vairaj, stepped forward. "Sir," he began nervously, "I was terrified. But I kept thinking of my family back home. I wanted to survive for them, to protect them from ever seeing what I saw out there."
Another soldier, an older man with a jagged scar across his cheek, spoke next. "I thought
about revenge. My village was destroyed by monsters years ago. Every time I killed one, it
felt like I was avenging my people."
A woman with short-cropped hair added, "For me, it was about proving to myself that I could stand my ground. I didn't want to run anymore."
Aish nodded after each account, his expression unreadable.
Then Ganya, standing beside him, pointed directly at Vairaj.
"And you," Ganya said, his tone sharp. "You, the one who ran off carrying someone. What
did you think during the battle? What drove you?"
Vairaj stepped forward, meeting Ganya's piercing gaze. He took a moment to collect his thoughts before speaking.
"I thought about killing them," Vairaj said, his voice low but filled with conviction. "Not just the mad monsters. Not just the intelligent ones. All of them. Every monster out there. I thought about the power I don't have yet, the power I'll one day unlock. And I promised myself that when I do, I'll make them regret ever setting foot in our world."
The room fell silent. Ganya raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable.
"And what will you do if that power never comes?" Ganya asked, challenging him.
Vairaj's eyes burned with intensity. "Then I'll fight without it. With my sword, my hands,
whatever I have. Because I'm not fighting for myself. I'm fighting for the ones we lost, for the ones who can't fight anymore. That's all the power I need."
Aish nodded approvingly. "Spoken like a true warrior. Remember that resolve, kid. It will
guide you in the battles to come."
Scene: After the Meeting
The warriors began to disperse, but Vairaj lingered, staring out the window at the horizon.
Jerome walked up beside him, nudging him lightly. "You really laid it out there, huh?" Jerome said with a small smile.
"Had to," Vairaj replied. "I'm not fighting just for me anymore."
Aaron joined them, gripping the axe that now felt like a part of him. "Neither am I. We're in
this together, no matter what."
From across the room, Zoya watched them, her expression softening. She could see the fire in Vairaj's eyes, a fire that hadn't been there since the day his world fell apart.
The war was far from over, but in that moment, they stood united, ready to face whatever came next.
Scene: Zoya Returns
Zoya entered the training grounds with newfound energy after her recovery. Spotting Jerome nearby, she approached him with a playful smirk.
Zoya: "What's this? Did you all forget about me while I was gone?"
Jerome: "Forget you? Never. We were just keeping busy. Vairaj's been training with Logan."
Zoya: "Training? Vairaj?"
Jerome: "Yeah, he's been going all out lately. Though, to be fair, Logan's been giving him a
run for his money."
Zoya: "I'd like to see this for myself."
She headed to the training arena and found Vairaj sparring with Ganya. The scene was
intense. Ganya was relentless, landing strike after strike, his words cutting deeper than his
blows.
Ganya: "Weak! I expected more from someone who talks so big. You're nothing but a trash-talker!"
Vairaj gritted his teeth, trying to block the blows but faltering under the pressure.
Suddenly, Zoya couldn't take it anymore. Without hesitation, she darted forward and struck Ganya on the back of the head. Ganya turned, his expression shifting to one of annoyance mixed with amusement.
Ganya: "And who do we have here? Ah, the one he carried and ran away with.
Interesting."
Zoya: "Don't you dare lay a hand on him again!"
Ganya smirked, stepping closer to her.
Ganya: "You've got spirit. But spirit doesn't win battles."
Before things escalated further, Supreme Commander Aish intervened, his commanding presence instantly diffusing the tension.
Aish: "Enough, Ganya. Stand down before this goes too far."
Ganya: "As you say, Commander."
He stepped back, shooting one last glance at Vairaj.
Ganya: "Prove me wrong someday, if you can."
Zoya helped Vairaj to his feet, her face stern.
Zoya: "You okay?"
Vairaj: "I'll live. Thanks for stepping in."
Zoya: "Next time, don't let anyone call you weak. Show them what you're made of."
Scene: The Meeting with Latin
Later that day, a meeting was called for all warriors. The atmosphere was tense as everyone gathered in the central hall. Latin, one of the organization's top intelligence officers, stood at the front, holding a worn, ancient-looking book.
Latin: "Everyone, listen carefully. We've received vital information that could change
everything."
The crowd murmured, but Latin's commanding voice silenced them.
Latin: "This is the Book of Truth. It is estimated to be over 250 years old. Our intelligence teams have confirmed its authenticity, and its contents are... unsettling. The book details many things, which give us a lead towards Marcus."
"Marcus is not only alive—he's thriving. He has become a bloodthirsty tyrant, driven by an insatiable desire to rule."
The warriors exchanged uneasy glances.
Latin: "Marcus has conquered one of the universe, ruling with an iron fist. It is said
that his influence extends even to the monsters we face today. According to the reports monsters were summoned by alien forces seeking revenge against Marcus. We are collateral damage in their war."
A soldier in the crowd raised a hand.
Soldier: "If he's so powerful, how can we possibly stop him?"
Latin: "That's where this comes in."
He held up a strange block, etched with glowing runes.
Latin: "This block is part of a tracking device created centuries ago to locate all God powers together within 100 meters of range orelse all the God power die . But it
requires four pieces to function fully. These pieces were taken away by Marcus the one we all know but the pieces have a curse that they cannot be taken out of Earth or be destroyed without the holder which we have. If we can retrieve these pieces, we can activate the tracker and locate Marcus."
A murmur spread through the crowd.
Jerome: "And what happens when we find him? Do we even stand a chance against
someone like that?"
Latin: "That's why you've all been called here. This mission isn't for the faint of heart.
Retrieving the pieces will be dangerous, and confronting Marcus even more so. But if we
don't act, this cycle of destruction will never end."
Ganya stepped forward, his voice steady and resolute.
Ganya: "We've faced monsters, intelligent and mad alike. We've trained for this. If Marcus is the cause of all this suffering, then it's our duty to end him. No matter the cost."
Supreme Commander Aish addressed the warriors, his tone calm but firm.
Aish: "This will be the most difficult mission we've ever undertaken. The stakes are higher
than ever, and failure is not an option. The first step is retrieving the pieces. Latin will brief us further on their locations."
Latin: "We know the general whereabouts of the four pieces. Each is guarded by a lieutenant of Marcus, creatures of immense strength and cunning. Teams will be formed to retrieve each piece and if we get one of the piece and keep it in the holder then all other pieces will slowly start having a flow a bond connected and will reach out to us. Only the best will be chosen for these missions."
Aish says " so the war begins..."
