Rule of Fate

Chapter 5: Chapter 5 Change

Returning to the Training Camp

When the trio returned to the training camp, it was clear that Vairaj had changed. He walked

silently, his posture rigid, his eyes filled with a newfound seriousness. The playful, lazy boy

who once joked about everything was gone.

Jerome and Zoya exchanged worried glances but decided to give him space.

A Month of Relentless Training

Kane noticed the shift in Vairaj immediately. During stamina drills, Vairaj no longer

complained or dragged his feet. He pushed himself to the limit, often finishing ahead of

everyone else.

"Vairaj," Kane called out after one grueling run. "What's driving you? I know your situation, we cannot change anything but it is something that has changed you"

Vairaj wiped the sweat from his face, his eyes meeting Kane's with unshakable

determination. "I have a promise to keep and also I am one of the survivors of the monster

attack recently happened so I know the threat."

Kane nodded, his expression unreadable. "oh I understand. Let that fire keep you going."

In combat training, Vairaj fought with unmatched intensity. His strikes were precise, his movements calculated. Even when sparring with higher-ranked recruits, he never backed down.

Jerome and Zoya watched him from the sidelines one day. "He's changed," Zoya said quietly. "But I'm…scared of what it's doing to him." Jerome nodded . "He's carrying too much. We just have to remind him that we are still here for him."

Adjusting Slowly

Over time, Vairaj began to adjust to his surroundings. He spoke sparingly but responded when others addressed him. He'd sit with Jerome and Zoya during meals, though he rarely joined in their conversations.

One evening, Jerome showed Vairaj a blueprint he was working on for his armor design. "This," Jerome said, pointing to a section, "will enhance mobility and make the user faster. What do you think?"

Vairaj studied it briefly and nodded. "It's good. But you'll need to reinforce the joints.

Otherwise, it'll wear out quickly under pressure."

Jerome grinned. "See? You still have that genius spark." Zoya smiled softly, glad to see a glimpse of the old Vairaj.

The Burning Rage

Despite his gradual adjustment, Vairaj's heart was still on fire. His dreams were filled with

images of monsters and his parents' final moments. Every morning, he woke up more

determined than the last.

One night, as they sat around the campfire, Zoya broke the silence. "What's your plan?Vairaj?" After all this training, what will you do?"

Vairaj stared into the flames, his voice cold and steady. "I'll end everything that comes in my way. I'll burn their world to the ground if I have to. No one will suffer like we did—not while I'm still breathing."

Zoya and Jerome exchanged a look but didn't argue. They knew his pain was his fuel. And they silently vowed to stand by him, no matter where his path led.

Scene: The End of 3 Years of Training

The training camp had come to a close after three grueling years. The once green recruits

were now polished warriors. The final day had arrived, where the top 10 soldiers were

announced from each age batch earning the right to touch the Sphere, a powerful energy source capable of granting extraordinary abilities to those with the potential to wield it.

Kane stood before the gathered trainees, his voice firm and commanding.

"You've all survived the past three years, and that's no small feat," he began. "You've endured relentless training, pushed past your limits, and proven your worth. But only the top 10 among you will earn the privilege to touch the Sphere. The names are as follows: Zoya,Aaron, Vairaj,Jerome, Logan, Clara had earned their places among the top 10."

Scene: Celebrating the Top 10

The top 10 recruits gathered later that evening, their emotions a mix of pride and nervous anticipation. Vairaj looked at Zoya, who was smiling but had a distant look in her eyes. "You're number one," he said, nudging her. "No surprise there."

Zoya chuckled. "My dad always said if you aim to fight monsters, you better be the best.

Anything less means death."

Aaron joined in, grinning. "And you're totally into it, Zoya. You deserve it."

Jerome smirked. "I'm just glad I made it to the top 10. Vairaj, I didn't think you'd make it past the first year with your laziness."

Vairaj shrugged. "I've changed. And I had a promise to keep."

Zoya's smile faded slightly as she looked at him. "Your parents would be proud."

Theory Classes: Learning About Monsters

Over the years, they had spent countless hours in theory classes learning about the

monsters they would one day face. Kane had been clear about the dangers.

"Monsters come in two primary types," Kane explained during one session. "Mad monsters—those who act purely on instinct, mindlessly seeking food and destruction. And then there are intelligent monsters—far more dangerous because they think, and threats towards them can also lead to retreat. Never underestimate them. The only way to kill a monster is to cut its throat deep enough to sever its life force. Anything less, and you're dead."

Vairaj leaned over to Jerome during the lecture. "You think your armor design could handle an intelligent monster?"

Jerome whispered back, "That's the idea. But we'll need to test it. First, we need to survive

this training."

Zoya, sitting ahead of them, turned around and whispered, "Stop whispering. You're going to miss the part where he explains how monsters adapt to our strategies."

---

Zoya's Strength and Her Father's Legacy

In a quiet moment after training one evening, Vairaj asked Zoya, "How do you do it? Stay so strong, even after everything we've been through?"

Zoya hesitated for a moment before replying. "My dad was a Savior, one of the best. He

trained me to fight from the time I could walk. He told me I had to be strong because the

world wasn't kind, and monsters didn't care about your feelings. But… he didn't make it. He was killed in a battle with a monster when I was 8. I promised myself I'd carry on his legacy, no matter what this is the reason when you asked me to join you I didn't resist."

Vairaj nodded solemnly. "Your dad would be proud of you. You're the strongest person I

know."

The Top 10's Bond

The bond between the top 10 recruits grew stronger as they prepared for the Sphere

ceremony. Logan, a tall and stoic warrior, spoke up during a group conversation.

"We're here because we earned it," he said. "But touching the Sphere… that's a whole

different level. It's going to change everything."Clara, a sharp and tactical thinker, added, "If it accepts us, we'll have powers to fight monsters on equal footing. But if not… well, let's not think about that."

Aaron laughed. "Right, negative thinking just kills us."

Jerome chimed in, "We've got this. If we can survive Kane's training, we can survive

anything."

Zoya, ever the leader, stood. "No matter what happens, we stick together. We've come too

far to let anything break us now."

---

Vairaj's Determination

Vairaj stood apart for a moment, staring at the Sphere from a distance. Its glowing energy seemed to pulse with life, as if it were calling to him. He clenched his fists. "This is it," he muttered to himself. "The next step. Mom, Dad… I won't let your sacrifices be in vain. I'll keep my promise. I'll end this war."

Jerome walked over, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Ready for this?"

Vairaj nodded. "I've been ready since the day I made that promise."

Together, the top 10 recruits prepared to face the Sphere, their hearts filled with hope, fear,

and an unshakable resolve to protect humanity from the monsters that had stolen so much from them.

Scene:During Sphere ceremony

Guests arrived , warriors arrived and top 10 recruits arrived one by one each of them touches the Sphere , vairaj turn he takes a deep breath and remembers his past and finally touches it.

Scene: After the Sphere Ceremony

Kane stood before the top 10 recruits, his voice steady and commanding. "You've all

touched the Sphere. But let me make this clear—it's not guaranteed that you'll gain a power.

The Sphere works in ways we don't fully understand. For those it chooses, the power will come suddenly, at a moment you least expect it. It could be in battle or during training. Your instincts as warriors will guide you when that moment comes."

The group stood silent, absorbing Kane's words. Some looked nervous, others determined.Vairaj, standing among them, felt a shift within himself. For the first time in years, a smile broke across his face—a genuine one, not forced or bitter. It caught Zoya's attention, and for a moment, she froze. She felt her chest tighten, a wave of emotion rushing over her. Quickly, she wiped the tear forming in her eye, unwilling to let anyone see.

Aaron leaned over to Vairaj. "What's with the smile, man? Did the Sphere tell you something?"

Vairaj shook his head, still smiling. "No. I just… feel ready. Like I'm finally where I'm

supposed to be."

Jerome smirked. "Well, don't get too cozy. We've got work to do."

Zoya cleared her throat, regaining her composure. "He's right. Let's not lose focus now. The sphere is just the beginning."

Kane clapped his hands, drawing their attention back. "Alright, future warriors. Move to your quarters and rest. Tomorrow, your assignments begin. Dismissed."
