Chapter 20: New places(and troubles)
As the commission return to Astera to lick their wounds, Evans Happily makes his way to his next destination. He would have skipped his way over if not for the possibility of casing earthquakes from his new weight.
Evans looks around as he inspects the tunnel system left behind by Zorah Magdaros. Magma could still be seen oozing from the walls, with scars from Zorah's shell marring them. "If I didn't know any better, I would have believed Zorah evolved from a mole." Giggling at the ridiculous thought, Evans approaches the end of the massive tunnel by night. "Woah."
On the other side, Evans could see a place that could be described in one word: Majestic. Kelbi graze on the land nearby as eggs from the coral float gracefully in the air. The wigglers sway side to side, curious about the pink thing off in the distance. And the coral itself stands tall, as if a bridge between the ground and the clouds in the sky. "So this is the coral highlands. its... so peaceful."
Evans felt calm. He basked in the serene highlands, watching as the clouds pass overhead.
Whack!
"..?" suddenly feeling an impact at his shin, Evans looked down. Before his eyes stood a blue creature that resembled the kulu-ya-Ku. However, instead of having feathers and a beak, it had horizontal horns and reptilian skin. The dizzy bird by his toes was angrily hopping about, screaming its lungs out at him for being in its presence.
" Aww look at the little guy." likely on a power high from the chunk of Zorah he took, and seeing how small the creature was compared to him, Evans, instead of squishing the wyvern, leans down to get a closer look.
" A little tiny bird wyvern so hyper and- AUUGGH! CURSE YOU TINY WYVERN!" Evans, at first mocking the small titziyaku, rears his head back as a blinding flash of light slams into his eyes, forcing them shut.
When Evans opened them again, the small jerk was gone. "YOU BETTER RUN! LAST TIME I SHOW YOUR KIND MERCY!" Frustrated, Evans roared out his grievances. The small creatures nearby fled, with the wigglers ducking back into the earth and the Kelbi leaping away.
Evans, now done with his little meltdown, lumbers towards the northern part of the highlands. He leaps from platform to platform, sometimes having to shake off the vines that get stuck between his claws. Reaching the top, Evans finds towering flora all around, with oyster shells laying about here and there. Evans looks around to enjoy the scenery when he realizes something.
"Hey... Isn't this the place where paolumu float about?" Looking around, Evans tries to spot something in the air. And sure enough, to his right he sees something round and fuzzy in the air, drifting lazily. Behind it lies a tail that seems to have come from a beaver. Curious, Evans approaches the flying ball of fur. The ball doesn't react to Evans approach. "Is it... sleeping in the air? well, in hindsight, that is one way to stay safe from ground predators."
Evans marvels at the unique defense mechanism right before his eyes. He then smirks, a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Too bad I'm not the average ground dweller." and with a swift thrust, Evans slams his nose into the sleeping wyvern.
Reeeiiiiik!
Startled by its sudden change in momentum, the paolumu snaps awake, flapping its wings frantically as it tries to remain balanced. Seeing the spiraling wyvern made Evans snicker at first. He then started laughing as he watched the wyvern bounce off a couple of the coral structures, like an actual balloon.
After a couple of tries, the flying wyvern finally manages to stabilize itself and begins to look for the perpetrator that interrupted its nap. coming face to face with Evans nose, The paolumu went through a mixture of emotions. It first felt shocked, then slightly confused, and finally settled with anger, believing that the thing in front of it had sent it spinning. With a roar, the paolumu began to use its tail to hit Evans on the nose repeatedly.
Evans was unbothered at first, though slightly amused. Then, he felt an itch on his nose. Nostrils twitching, Evans huffed and puffed. Felling the change in airflow, The paolumu stopped its assault and flew backwards getting a better look at Evans. Now scared due to how massive Evans is, The wyvern begins to make its retreat, but is unfortunately a step to late. "ACHOOO! excuse me."
Boogers fly out from Evans' sneeze, rocketing to the very unlucky paolumu in its path. The boogers land, dragging the paolumu with it.
Splat!
The paolumu crashes into to central coral, with the boogers holding it in place. the now snot covered floating sky wyvern struggles to escape, failing from how surprisingly adhesive the mucus is. Evans, seeing what happened from his sneeze, giggled to himself and left the once airborne creature in its slimy tomb.
