Road Survival, I Have a Hint System!

Chapter 40: A Japanese Player Living Well?

"Manufacture, install!"

Zhang Tuohai exuberantly produced a high-end car air conditioner.

An electronic LCD screen appeared on the car's dashboard.

[Current Temperature: 37.5°C.]

[Adjustable Temperature: -40°C to 40°C.]

[Use smart mode to maintain the cabin temperature in the most comfortable range?]

[Warning! Using this mode will increase power consumption by 10%, with normal consumption at 1 kW/hour.]

Use!

Zhang Tuohai chose the smart mode without hesitation.

Now that he had high-end solar panels, there was plenty of power to spare.

The high-end car air conditioner began working, and a refreshing breeze blew into the car, visibly lowering the temperature inside.

Comfortable!

Zhang Tuohai stretched lazily.

In this post-apocalyptic world, he hadn’t felt such a pleasant temperature in a long time.

He felt as if he were back in a familiar air-conditioned room.

"If only I had a cold soda to go with this," Zhang Tuohai thought, unsatisfied.

Oh right, he had soda too!

He remembered he had managed to get a bucket of fried chicken at the factory.

It came with three cups of soda.

Zhang Tuohai quickly grabbed a cup and took a sip.

The bubbles from the carbon dioxide instantly filled his mouth.

Refreshing!

Zhang Tuohai lay back in his seat, savoring the aftertaste, feeling a surge of happiness.

Once easily accessible, only after losing it did he realize how precious it was.

He finished most of the soda in one go, feeling invigorated.

"Let’s go! I have to get the rest of those orange supply crates!"

Zhang Tuohai opened the map.

According to his previously plotted route, his next target was the city center— the commercial area.

He was certain this was where most players would congregate.

Moreover, the supplies here would be plentiful, and conflicts between players would definitely rise exponentially.

The commercial area would surely be fraught with danger.

But he didn’t care.

In the world of competition, everyone was equal; whoever dared to block his way would be dealt with harshly.

Zhang Tuohai drove toward the city center's commercial area at full speed.

The commercial district was filled with four- and five-story buildings.

These buildings were clearly much more attractive than those in the factory and residential areas.

The walls were adorned with various reliefs, and decorative columns flanked the entrances, making them look elegant and grand.

Colorful glass was scattered across the streets, likely remnants of the original windows, indicating how luxurious it had once been.

It was bustling here.

Zhang Tuohai saw many cars parked along the street, with people coming in and out of buildings, each carrying various spoils.

This scene made him feel as though he had returned to peacetime, searching for a parking spot.

Noticing the activity, Zhang Tuohai slowed down, eyeing the items people carried.

He wanted to see if there were any supplies worth scavenging.

After a thorough look around, Zhang Tuohai felt a bit disappointed.

He noticed that most people were carrying various ceramics and metal utensils.

Then there were some durable clothing items.

A few lucky ones had tools like axes and hammers.

But more were just carrying wood.

He didn’t see any food.

He couldn’t tell if it had been hidden away by these people or if there truly was no food left in the city.

These items weren’t worth his time.

After circling around and confirming there was nothing valuable, Zhang Tuohai drove directly toward the building marked on the map where the orange treasure chests were hidden.

It was a three-story building with black stone walls, a red roof, and 16 elegant columns in front. There were even two four-meter-tall soldier statues at the entrance, looking quite impressive.

Zhang Tuohai glanced at the building, sensing it must have been famous in its time.

Among the structures he had seen in the city, this one could easily rank in the top three.

Such an impressive building was surely already targeted by others.

When Zhang Tuohai arrived, he saw two cars parked at the entrance.

Seeing someone approach, he felt a little anxious and quickly asked the system.

"System, have the orange supply crates been taken?"

[Still in place.]

Zhang Tuohai breathed a sigh of relief.

"Then where are the supply crates hidden?"

[In a box on the third-floor loft.]

Zhang Tuohai: "..."

He felt the map was purely playing tricks, hiding the crates so secretly would require a lot of effort to find.

He completely believed that whoever originally placed these supply crates never intended for map carriers to find all five.

However, the planners never anticipated that a skilled player would mix in among the novices.

He wouldn’t play by the rules.

Wearing a helmet and coat, Zhang Tuohai walked into the building.

The first floor resembled a large lobby, and he saw something like a reception bar, with a huge painting behind it made entirely of colored glass.

However, a portion had already fallen off, so Zhang Tuohai couldn’t tell what it depicted.

On either side of the bar were marble staircases, with a tattered carpet laid over them.

There were clear footprints on the carpet, indicating someone had gone upstairs.

Zhang Tuohai became cautious, gripping his Remington tightly as he cautiously ascended to the second floor.

Just halfway up, he saw three people confronting each other at the staircase to the second floor.

A middle-aged man in a hood was facing off against two young men in denim.

The hooded man held a katana, while Denim Guy #1 wielded a large pair of pliers, and Denim Guy #2 had a wooden baseball bat studded with nails.

Though the hooded man had the advantage in weapons, the large pliers could definitely deliver a serious blow, and the nailed bat was even worse, inflicting a chronic injury.

The three were locked in a standoff.

Honestly, if they found a secluded place to stall until the end of time, Zhang Tuohai wouldn’t care.

But the problem was, they were blocking the stairs leading up.

That was annoying.

Zhang Tuohai looked up at them, feeling irritated.

"Hey, it’s getting late. If you’re going to fight, just do it quickly. If not, step aside so we can pass, alright?"

Zhang Tuohai glanced at his watch, feeling impatient.

"Y-you… you bastard, get lost! D-don’t interrupt our duel!" the hooded man stammered.
