Road Survival, I Have a Hint System!

Chapter 35: Reorganizing Words

Zhang Tuohai glanced at the map. The nearest location to him was a factory area in the outskirts of the city.

The orange treasure chest in the factory area was located three blocks away in one of the warehouses.

While driving, Zhang Tuohai scanned the factories on both sides of the street.

The warehouses all looked old but uniform in appearance.

Red brick walls, gray roofs, tall chimneys, and large black iron gates—everything was the same.

Without the map, he would have no idea which factory contained the treasure chest.

Zhang Tuohai was carefully driving down the street when the system notification suddenly rang.

[Warning: A vehicle pursuit is happening ahead. The car is moving at over 100 miles per hour. Please slow down and avoid.]

“A chase?”

Zhang Tuohai stepped hard on the gas, grabbed his shotgun, and got ready.

Not ten seconds later, a red, second-hand car sped through the intersection ahead.

If Zhang Tuohai hadn’t braked in time, there would have been a crash.

“Damn it, even in the apocalypse, people should follow traffic rules. Who do you think would be responsible if we crashed? In a hurry to reincarnate or what?” Zhang Tuohai muttered under his breath.

Before he finished speaking, two white second-hand cars sped through the intersection, moving even faster than the red car.

Interestingly, the window of the second car was half-open, and Zhang Tuohai spotted a punk-looking woman in the driver’s seat.

She wore heavy makeup that had mostly smeared, had large earrings dangling from her ears, and her hair was a dried, straw-yellow color. She could’ve walked onto a horror movie set without needing makeup.

As the woman noticed Zhang Tuohai’s car parked by the road, she glanced over, then raised her middle finger.

Her car sped off and disappeared around the corner.

Zhang Tuohai couldn’t be bothered to get upset over someone like her.

As long as they didn’t interfere with his search for the treasure chest, they could do whatever they wanted.

But if they crossed his path, they’d regret it.

With a cold snort, Zhang Tuohai continued driving toward the factory indicated on the map.

After a couple of turns, Zhang Tuohai finally found the right factory.

Red brick walls, a large black iron gate—just as rundown as the others.

No one would ever guess that an orange treasure chest was hidden inside.

“Who’d be able to find this without a map?” Zhang Tuohai muttered, walking to the factory gate and giving it a push.

The gate was only half-closed, and with a bit of force, it creaked open.

The hinges were rusted from years of neglect, screeching loudly as the gate swung.

Creeeak.

Zhang Tuohai pushed the gate halfway open, wincing at the noise, and drove his car inside.

“The second warehouse.” He checked the map again and drove to the door of the second building.

The warehouse doors were large, wooden sliding panels, but they were rotten and falling apart. One half had collapsed onto the ground, while the other hung crookedly, ready to fall off.

Zhang Tuohai drove straight inside.

Rows of production lines and various machines filled the warehouse. Time had left them rusted and decayed, making it impossible to tell what these machines had once been.

“Where’s the treasure chest?” Zhang Tuohai muttered, stepping out of the car and searching the area.

“Huh?”

He suddenly noticed a glint of light on top of one of the large machines.

Looking up, he spotted the orange treasure chest, neatly placed on top of the machine.

The machine wasn’t too tall, about two meters, and there was a ladder nearby for easy maintenance access. It was easy for Zhang Tuohai to climb up.

Rubbing his hands together excitedly, Zhang Tuohai looked at the orange chest.

The purple chest had given him a blueprint for a fan, but what could the orange chest hold?

Just as he was about to open it, the system suddenly popped up a warning.

[Caution! Hold tight! A collision is imminent!]

“Collision? What collision?” Zhang Tuohai muttered suspiciously, crouching down and grabbing the edge of the machine.

Before he could make sense of the situation—

Boom!

A loud crash echoed through the warehouse.

A red second-hand car smashed through the back door of the warehouse and barreled inside.

The car rammed straight into the machine Zhang Tuohai was standing on.

With a heavy thud, the car’s engine caved in, and the hood flew off. The vehicle was obviously out of commission.

Zhang Tuohai stared at the car. It looked familiar.

After a quick inspection, he slapped his thigh in realization.

“Isn’t this the same second-hand car that almost hit me earlier?”

“But wait, weren’t there two white cars chasing it? If it’s here now, then...”

Just as he thought that, a sense of dread washed over him.

Boom! Boom!

Two more crashes came from the back door.

The already dilapidated door shattered completely as two white second-hand cars stormed in, coming to a stop in front of Zhang Tuohai.

Four people jumped out of the white cars.

Their appearance startled Zhang Tuohai.

If it weren’t broad daylight, he would have thought they were demons.

The four were dressed in flashy, punk outfits, holding metal pipes and baseball bats. They looked like they’d stepped out of some cheesy throwback to the early 2000s.

“What year is it, and people still dress like this?” Zhang Tuohai scratched his head in confusion.

At that moment, a young man with hair dyed green like a grassland looked up and saw Zhang Tuohai standing on the machine.

He immediately glared at him.

“What are you looking at? Never seen this before? Get lost, or I’ll cut you down too!” the green-haired man threatened, waving his machete.

Zhang Tuohai wasn’t interested in dealing with them.

As long as they didn’t provoke him, it didn’t matter.

He picked up the orange chest, ready to leave.

But just then, the woman with heavy makeup standing next to the green-haired man spoke up, “Bro, look at that chest—why’s the color so weird? It’s orange!”

“Damn, it really is orange! There must be something amazing inside,” a white-haired guy said excitedly, his eyes gleaming.

“Wow, what luck! We stumbled upon a rare chest!” the green-haired guy shouted with excitement.

“Hey, you! Stop right there and hand over that chest!” he demanded.

“Oh? Are you sure you want this?” Zhang Tuohai tossed the chest in his hand and gave them a cold look.

“What, you’re not scared? Let’s see how tough you are!” the green-haired man snarled, taking off his spiked leather jacket, revealing his scrawny frame, and brandishing his machete.

“You don’t want to listen? Fine, I’ll give you a chance—if you don’t hand it over, I’ll make you regret it!” he growled menacingly.

Seeing the green-haired man’s tough-guy act, Zhang Tuohai laughed.

From under his coat, he pulled out a Remington shotgun and said calmly, “I’ll give you one chance to reorganize your words.”
