Rita's Unseen Destiny.

Chapter 9: Hope Renewed.

That day, Rachael had a date with Steven but because she got the news about her sister-in-law, Noame, she decided to dial Steven's number, feeling a sense of apologetic dread. "Hey Steven, I am sorry, but I am going to have to cancel our date tonight."

Steven's voice was warm and expectant, "Hey Rachael, what's up? I was looking forward to seeing you tonight." Rachael took a deep breath. I am so sorry Steven. My sister-in-law, Noame, is in the hospital and I need to be there for her. My niece Rita is already there, and I want to support them both. "

Steven's tone shifted from disappointment to understanding. " Oh, I see, family comes first, of course. I am sorry to hear that your sister-in-law, Noame, was in hospital."

Rachael appreciated his empathy. Thank you, Steven. I feel terrible canceling on you at the last minute, but I hope you understand.

Steven sighed.Yeah, I understand. Let's reschedule for another time? I hope your sister-in-law, Noame, recovers soon." Rachael smiled, absolutely grateful for his kindness. Let's reschedule soon. And thank you again for understanding.

As they hung up, Rachael felt a sense of relief, knowing she could be there for her family while also appreciating Steven's understanding.

Rachael picked up her vehicle and she immediately rushed to Gulu city to the hospital where Noame was admitted. When Rachael reached the hospital room, she sat with her eyes fixed on Noame, who was lying in bed. She looked so frail and vulnerable, a stark contrast to the strong and vibrant woman she once was. Rachael's heart went out to her, and she felt a surge of empathy and compassion.

She glanced over at Rita, who was sitting on the other side of the bed, holding her mother's hand. Rita's eyes were red-rimmed from lack of sleep and worry, but she managed to make a weak smile when she saw Rachael looking at her. Rachael got up and walked over to Rita, giving her a gentle hug. "How are you holding up, sweetie?" She asked, her voice soft with concern.

Rita shrugged, her shoulders trembling slightly. I am trying to stay strong for Mom, but it's hard. I am so scared, Rachael. " Rachael nodded understandingly. " I know, baby, lam scared too. But we will get through this together, okay?"

Just then, the doctor came in with an update on Rita's mother's condition. Rachael listened intently, her expression serious, as the doctor explained the situation.

After the doctor left, Rachael turned to Rita and said, "We need to talk about the hospital bills, sweetie, we can't afford to pay them all. Rita's eyes widened in alarm. " What are we going to do, Rachael? Rachael took a deep breath. Don't worry, we will figure something out. I will talk to someone, I will see what we can do."

David's eyes widened in surprise as he entered the room and saw his sister Rachel sitting beside his wife Noame's bed. " Rachael! I had no idea you were coming to the hospital today," David exclaimed, his voice filled with a lot of surprise and concern.

Rachael stood up and gave David a warm hug. "I am so sorry, David. I had to go as soon as I heard about Noame's incident. How is she doing?" David nodded, still looking about dazed. She is stable now, thank God. But I am so sorry, Rachael, I should have called you sooner. It's just been a crazy few days."

Rachael waved her hand understanding. " Don't apologize, David. I know how it is. But there is something we need to talk about." David looked at her curiously as Rachael continued. The hospital bills, David. They are overwhelming. We can't afford to pay them as a family.

David's expression turned dull. " I know. I have been trying to figure out what to do. We have insurance, but it's not enough to cover everything.' Rachael nodded sympathetically. " We shall figure it out together David. We always do. But for now, let's focus on Naome's recovery." David nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. " You are right, Rachael. Let's focus on getting Naome better first. We will worry about the bills later, he said, taking a deep breath. Together they sat down beside Noame's bed, holding her hands and praying for her recovery.

As the day drew to a close, Carlson, Rita's manager and liver, noticed her absence from work. He had been expecting her to come in as usual but didn't show up. He tried calling her phone, but it went straight to voicemail. Carlson's brow furrowed with concern as he wondered what could be wrong. He had never known Rita to miss work without notice before. He decided to try calling her again, and this time, she answered.

"Hey, where are you?" Carlson asked, his voice laced with concern." I am so sorry, Carlson, I am at the hospital. My mom had an operation and I had to come here," Rita explained, her voice trembling. " Oh no, I am so sorry to hear that. How is she doing? Carlson asked, his voice softening. " She's stable now, but it was a close call. Is. Just glad I was able to get here on time," Rita said, her voice filled with relief.

"I am glad that you are with her. Do you need me to go there? I can bring you some food or anything you need," Carlson offered. Rita accepted Carlson's offer to go to the hospital, and he arrived shortly after. They sat in the reception area, waiting for news about Noame's condition.

After the doctor came out and informed them that Noame was stable and would be discharged in a few days. Rita was relieved and thanked the doctor. Rita was relieved and thanked the doctor.

But then, the nurse came out with a somber expression. "Rita, I need to talk to you about the bill. It's quite substantial."

Rita's heart sank as the nurse handed her bill. She scanned it, her eyes widening in shock. " Oh no, this is more than we can afford. We shall never be able to pay for this!"

Carlson noticed Rita's distress and put a supportive arm round her. "What's wrong?" Rita showed him the bill, her voice shaking. We can't pay this Carlson. It's too much, we are going to lose everything. Carlson's expression turned. Don't worry Rita, we shall figure something out. But Rita was defeated. No, Carlson. We can't, this bill is too much for us. We are going to have to, I don't know, sell our house or something? Carlson pulled her into a hug. Rita, listen to me. We will get through this together. I promise.

And then, without Rita knowing, Carlson went to the billing desk and paid the entire bill himself. Rita was stunned when she found out and her heart swelled with gratitude for Carlson's kindness, but her mind was racing with questions. Who was this man, Carlson, who had paid the bill? What were his real intentions, and who was his real father? She couldn't believe that she had fallen in love with a billionaire! It was all so real.

"Carlson, who are you," Rita asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Carlson smiled and took her hand. Looking into her eyes he said, " I will tell you when the right time comes. For now let's plan on how to get Mom back home .
