RISE OF THE SWARM

Chapter 45: Princess

Ell's face crumpled in dissatisfaction. " They knew i was here. That means there was someone in the palace is leaking information."

"They also have to be quite high up in power, as dad hid every information about my mission." She added, placing her hand on her chin.

"Not a mission, you ran away chasing a prophecy, and of course, the emperor had to hide information about you running away. Imagine the turmoil that would erupt if the empire found out the princess ran away. The danger alone would be monumental," Garrik said with laughter, walking forward.

Ell turned her head, shooting a mean look towards Garrick, she didn't consider running away, to her she was on a mission, and one of utmost importance. The prophecy had come to her in the midst of a dream, warning about a great enemy that would plunge the world in ruin. It was also prophesied that a hero would emerge who would be the world's only chance at saving the world.

So she took it upon herself to find the hero, it had taken her months to try and look for the hero. During this time, her father, the emperor, had spared no expense to locate her. But now she thought she had finally found him, the hero spoken about in her prophecy. She turned her head towards Liam.

He used a magic she didn't recognize, which was saying a lot she was a princess after all, and such status brought with it great knowledge about the types of magic present in the world. But even with that she couldn't discern the magic used by Liam. If it could even be termed magic. It had no traces of mana like regular magic, heck....he didn't use mana at all to cast it. Yet somehow it was able to completely overpower the assassin's spells. If it wasn't for his lack of knowledge in combat, evident in how he fought the assassins. He was sure to win. She thought to herself.

"Princess....." Liam coughed iron in his mouth, his voice weak and barely audible.

His mind raced, drawing questions one after the other. Why was the princess here? Why had she saved him? And why was she under attack by assassins?

Pain from his chest tore through his mind, interrupting his thoughts. He clutched his chest out of reflex. letting out a barrage of blood-infused coughs.

"He's in pretty bad shape. Whatever he used left his body in shambles." Garrick analyzed.

"Can you help him, Professor?" She asked.

Liam's ear perked; their analysis of his body was correct. He felt like his entire body was broken, and it seemed to be from the use of the energy he had used earlier. But he didn't understand when he first used it against the heretics he barely suffered any damage. Yet thay wasn't the thing that irked him the most. Professor…the so called Princess had called him professor, its seems Garrik is hiding his true identity he figured out by himself.

"Hmmm, I should be able to." Garrick said.

Suddenly Liams vision began to darken. A fresh wave of fatigue hit him like never before. With a thud he fell to the ground asleep once again.

When his eyes opened once more he was no longer on the street or at the Inn. Where he had woken up earlier. No a different scene greeted his eyes one he utterly hoped to be nothing but a dream.

The same dead flaming planet floated infront of him, still grim and dark as he had left it. Infront of him the same woman still say in the darkness her silver hair cascading down shining its light in the surroundings

Thats when he remembered a voice came through while he was fighting, one that eerily resembled her voice.

"You were a fool to try and use that power." She said her back turned.

"I'm assuming you know what it is." Liams said crossing his hands.

The woman remained quiet for sometimes contemplating something in her mind.

"It's a weapon. Weapon against the." She said.

Liam knew without asking she was referring towards the swarm, a so called enemy that would destroy the world. He let out a sigh.

"Listen, girl..woman whatever you are. I appreciate you calling me a hero and some Saviour but I'm not that. I don't even know how to fight. Please go and find someone else, I'm pretty sure you can find other null-bodies." He said.

The woman remained silent for a while before answering.

"There is no other. Once selected the hero can't be changed." She said as a matter of fact.

"Then I just won't fight"

"You have no choice. Once the enemy find out about that power then they will do everything in their power to eliminate you. For you are their weakness. So like it or not your fate is to fight the.." she said once again.

Liam fell into silence. No matter what his choice was he was still going to have to fight those enemies, if they even existed in the distance place.

"So what is this weapon anyway.?" He asked. If he was going to fight then he needed to understand what he carried thay was so dangerous.

"It's a magic the like which has never existed. Where normal magic works on the principle of change and creation. This one focuses on the principle of nullification. It turns anything it comes into contact into literal nothingness." She said.

Liams scratched his head. That information didn't help at all there were still so many questions thay he had unanswered.

"That is only the basic information. Its applications are near limitless as you grow stronger you would be able to flesh out its complexities." She said.

"It's seems our time has been cut short once again, you are about to wake up. Follow those two they will help you gey stronger." She advised.

"Wait who are-" before he could finish his question his figure disappeared.
