Interlude - The Wanderer
Mitchell or Mitch as everyone called him wasn't much of a communicator. He had his circles that he talked in, but he lived his usual quiet life.
He would play Magic Cards with his older brother and hang out with his family when he could.
He would do his sword demo's online and show different things you could do with a sword. His brother always told he needed to go to a Rennaissance Fair, but he never actually went. He had always sort of a competition with Sorin about weapons and martial arts just because it was his brother's lifestyle, but his hobby.
Of all people, Mitch was probably the most prepared person for the system. The moment the screen popped up and he read his choices it was a piece of cake for him to pick. Tempest Blademaster. He had checked in with his family and made sure his nephews were good, then immediately went out to train on his path and he excelled...
- 4 months later -
"Clarksville Tennessee was experiencing an outbreak of monster activity. Wardens Josh and Amy arrived on sight to put down the giant flaming wolf that was closing on the rest of the population including where the Seraph who is tirelessly keeping that rift contained through her work on warriors in the guild there. Since the death of the wolf, activity has been slowing down......."
Mitch was sitting in the Adventurers Guild. This location he could take jobs for cores which were used as money now in this world and he had been while he trained every day. These guilds houses were set up all across the United States by the President as he found out when he first joined two months ago. He had been getting news and slowly making his way across the United States taking jobs on stronger monsters that would travel and escape rifts. A few times he had to cut down violent criminals that had overrun the enforcers who were slowly getting stronger but at best were a C rank adventurer. He had finally crossed into A rank and was one of 7 across the States. He had become known as the wanderer. The guild had been tracking his jobs and saw him moving from state to state. He was headed to Clarksville exactly where the news report was from to find his brother, Sister-in-law, and nephew. The family had heard nothing from them and were beyond worried.
There was so much happening, but if anyone knew how to deal with it all, it would be Sorin. He always had the answers, even if he didn't like it. His wife made an outstanding sister to all of them and was just as tough if she could remain married to that stubborn ass of a brother he had. He had become more worried since the news report came out after they got the power up again and he didn't see or hear from his brother. Vehicles being back up increased his speed of travel.
Two days after he saw the report, he was standing on Ft Campbell, Blvd looking at where the base used to be. He walked down the road up a hill where some metal eagle was and continued up to a gate manned by soldiers.
"Civilian ID or Guild ID please." The soldier said to him. Mitch pulled from his back pocket his wallet and his guild ID. The moment the Soldier saw the ID he went ghost white.
"W-wanderer. Please go on through. Is there anything we can help you with?" the soldier asked shakily almost star struck at the A ranker. Mitch put his wallet back and looked up.
"I need a directory or a way to find my brother. He works on this base or at least did." He said. "Yes sir! This is common and they set us up with a database after they got the power back up. What is the name?" the soldier asked.
"Sorin Ekart." came the reply. The soldier typed in the name and pressed enter then froze. "Wanderer, Sir. He is listed as MIA from the initial attack on the base." Mitch was stunned. Of all people he expected survive and do well, it was his older brother, but this would explain why he had heard no word. "What about Brittanie Ekart? Thats his wife."
The soldier typed a few more keys and then his eyebrows went up when he saw a stunning connection.
"Your sister-in-law is the Seraph?"
