Rise of the Omnimage

Chapter 52 - A little unstable

Sorin watched from a distance as they had agreed he would, but continued to work out the problem of electricity.

He understood that aether is energy as his world knew it and that fire and lighting were like cousins. The issue is that fire in of itself was much easier to create in large amounts and can grow, but electricity is a very precise force of energy that without a continous supply of force behind it, it would die out or just become fire through setting something else on fire.

Sorin couldn't create and carry a generator around with him for the electricity made from a mechanical function. He didn't know all the math and equations that went into it, but he did understand what it needed at a very surface level.

Imbalance. He began looking closely at a single mote of aether. He kept looking closer and closer at it trying to figure out, how he was supposed to create an imbalance.

Sure he could condense a bunch of electrons in one area, ionize a section of ground until it electrocuted anyone within it....oh....that was good. That will come after he figured the project he was currently working on.

The human body gives off an electrical field, but that field was so tiny compared to a lighting bolt for a human. Sorin paused,

He was no longer the average human. He was exponentially more powerful. At every threshold he would have his strength doubled and then added to with the power per threshold point. 30 points for his mind and body and 40 points in his spirit. Per Point in spirit he was getting 4 times what he would as a first tier and 3 times in his other categories.

With his mind upgraded as much as it was he could recall memories from when he looked into energy out of curiosity he knew 1 horsepower was somewhat equivalent to 745 watts which means....

"Damn!" Sorin wasn't even remotely close to being able to channel that much power from his own body using all of his AP. He would need around 50 gigawatts which came out to around 67 million AP which he wouldn't get until 14th or 15th tier by his math. That's including his absorption skill and pulling from his body. Trying to create a bolt of lightning would kill him.

So that was completely out of the question and a huge let down, which means he would need to use the forces that be to do some sort of lighting technique.

Sorin looked at his storm sense and saw the blue and red motes all over they flowed together and intertwined. Different water aether and heat aether of various concentrations.

He looked in on a group of motes and went in as close as he could. His aether cost overcame his absorption, but he couldn't see anything new about the mote of aether, but that checked out. Even with the technology we couldn't exactly see an atom, but perhaps he could measure the energy cycles of the rotating electrons and protons.

He kept feeling for fluctuations and after a few minutes he began to feel insanely fast motions. He reached with his will to slow that down. It resisted him. As he kept feeling it grew easier and easier to.

He then pulled the motions away from their orbits and began to gather them. As he pulled more and more away, stopping them, he felt the area become charged and seemingly frustrated by the imbalance in nature. He kept pulling them together. Small cracks of electricity began arching in his general area. He kept pulling more together.

*bleep*

*Flash! Boom! Rumble!*

Sorin was sent flying backwards burned and tingling unable to move from the electricity coursing through his system. He slammed into the ground and tumbled until he was stopped not so gently by a tree. He lay on the ground twitching unable to catch his breath until the energy left his system and he gasped for air.

As he lay there panting, he began berating himself for the stupidity. His body was scorched, clothing burned. His regeneration skill was already at work restoring his body.

He began pulling himself up and changing locations. He expected people to come over and check out the disturbance, but oddly nothing.

- at the same time -

The three of Team Aegis snapped their heads to the right, where they believed Sorin to be.

"We need to check and see if we are under attack!" She started to move. "Lady Aegis!" Cain shouted over.

"There is nothing to worry about. I would bet my life on the fact that is Sorin coming up with some another bullshit skill."

Linx was shaking his head as cain spoke looking down.

"He does this a lot?" Euryale asked.

The two conscripts nodded with exasperated faces.

Euryale looked over to the trees then looked over at their defense point seeing the next wave inbound.

- Sorin -

Sorin shrugged and began moving. He pulled his new notification up.

Congratulations

You have learned the skill

Lightning zone(a) - by destabilizing the energy of an area you call down massive amounts of electricity that randomly strikes an area. Direct hits can deal massive AOE damage.

Sorin knew he had to try again now that he figured out the method. He left the area he was at and went to a new area where he could see their defense point.

On his arrival he saw why nobody can come to check. They were dealing with the latest wave of beasts attacking their point.

Sorin smiled and began channeling his ability away from his team toward the middle and end of the beast line.

*Flash! Flash! Flash!*

*Boom!*

Electricity arched through each of the beast that resembled frozen bears ripping them to pieces and throwing others out of the way.

He kept bringing the strikes down on the numerous beast that were beginning to thin out as they were incinerated, electrocuted, and slammed into the river where he used water to spear them to death, and the last were sent into the wall of death that was his team.

Warning!

AP under 10

Sorin stopped his attacking, stunned at how much aether he was using for his lignting strikes. He would have to be significantly more careful about his new skill and it's use, not just for the danger of those around him...and himself, but it's consumption. As he grew he was sure he could refine the technique and make it more lethal, but for the time being he was satisfied.

- Team Aegis -

Euryale, Linx, and Cain just looked at eachother.

"Sorin is a complete ass hole. He gets a little alone time and learns to smite people. What's next he learns to walk on water?" Linx said.

Cain didn't miss a beat.

"Don't say that too loud. He just might do it."

Euryale just looked at the spot where dozens of bear corpses were added to the rest of the beasts they had killed in bewilderment.

Sorin was beginning to scare her with his rate of growth. She trusted that he would keep his word about being loyal to her and her family as she helped him get home.

Perhaps, she needed to be take some precautions to ensure he did not turn on her. If he continued to grow in power, which there was no way he was tier 2. He was at least mid tier 3 putting him dangerously close to her own tier, could she continue to rely on him?

"Stop." She said to herself. She was allowing her emotions to guide her steps. She tabled them and thought about it objectively.

Sorin wanted more than anything to get home. It's his driving force and as long as he knows I am working with him to get to that goal, he has no reason to betray me. That removes motive. He's not stupid. He knows there is a literal army behind me not just my own family, but the empire who could crush even a rogue tier 10.

So he doesn't have the means. He has already had plenty of opportunities to betray me especially with me letting him run off. He fought for me and reported total destruction of Aeon's team. I suppose that will be the true test. If I don't see Aeon I'll check the official standing for his status. A team wipe would make this test impossible.

She took a breath.

Sorin though becoming a force to be reckoned with, is in her team and her ally. Until he does something that makes her doubt him, she wouldn't let her fears of what if? Cloud her judgement and poison their working relationship.
