Chapter 31: JUST A PAPER TIGER?
Kaiser dropped down before the elders council building. And at once, dust and debris scattered all around him. The guards immediately reacted and got ready for combat. He moved forward, taking slow deliberate steps.
"Halt! The elders council are having a meeting." Their leader shouted, brandishing a gun, while some others were with spiritual weapons.
"Oh really? Move out of my way, or you will regret it." Kaiser whispered coldly and continued moving forward.
"Then, you leave us no choice, second brother. Attack!"
However, before they could unleash their weapons and secret arts, Kaiser moved like a phantom and appeared in their midst. At once, he released an energy blast from his body which threw them off.
He looked back at the dozens of powerful inner clan disciples who were writhing on the floor in pain and scoffed.
"Trash like you want to stop me? If there's a next time, it won't end with such little wounds, you will have to give me your dog lives." Kaiser said in a bone chilling voice and moved inside, making his way to the grand hall.
He stopped before the doors, and listened. There were loud laughter inside the grand Hall, and the attendees were obviously in high spirits, as if celebrating a mighty event.
"Let's see how they tackle this. After this incident, they won't be arrogant anymore."
"He's just a toad lusting after swan meat. He popped out of nowhere and wants to take over the clan's control? As if! Since he's so capable, he should go enjoy himself in the perilous lands."
"That's right. Since he could conquer the twin dragon daggers, he might as well go down and conquer hell too."
The laughter became even louder at this point.
"I say, he's already dead by now. No one can survive fifteen minutes inside the perilous lands. And as for that Kaiser that thinks the clan is his playground, let's see how he handles this."
Kaiser angrily kicked the door open, making dust and debris scatter all over. Everyone's attention turned towards the door, watching Kaiser walk in like the king of hell. The slight air current made his long coat flow behind him as he advanced.
He stopped before the main table and smirked.
"It seems the elders are having a pretty good time. Did something joyful happen?"
"Preposterous! How dare you break into the elders council?" Before the speaker could finish, Kaiser appeared before him and grabbed his throat, flinging him out of his seat without warning.
"Uncle, do you want me to start with you?" He asked in a glacial voice and finally looked up, letting the others get a proper look at his scary eyes.
"You sent my brother to the perilous lands, do you feel that threatened by his presence? You even used blood sacrifice to seal the portal. I guess we should feel honored that you all attached so much importance and dedicated meticulous effort to us. I'm really impressed!" Kaiser whispered, still smiling broadly. For some reason, his calm face unnerved them, even more than his furious self.
"You have gone too far! Did I overindulge you? Have you forgotten the clan's rule about violence? How dare you attack a clansman, an elder for that matter?" Their grandpa shouted, getting to his feet.
"Clan's rule about violence? I thought such rule no longer exists. Since you all could connive to lock a member of the main branch in the perilous lands in a bid to kill him, doesn't that mean that we can start killing whoever we please? The elders set the trend, since the clans rules set by the ancestors are no longer in use, why should I keep myself shackled by them? I'm not that filial!"
"Your brother was sent there for training…"
"Oh really? Then why haven't you, as old as you are ever entered the perilous lands for once? Does that mean that you and your kids are trash, not worthy of training? The perilous lands that have always been sealed off was suddenly opened just to murder one person, I'm truly impressed with this trick." Kaiser whispered and appeared before the speaker, flinging him out of his seat. He groaned on the floor and vomited blood, making many of the elders stand in anger.
"How can you be so ruthless to…"
"In terms of ruthlessness, I'm quite lacking compared to you guys. Brent could even plant a bomb to kill almost a hundred people, just to lure me out of the clan. Those countless souls whom he tried to slaughter without mercy just to nab one man, how can one useless old bone compare to them? Or was it the blood sacrifice used to reseal the perilous lands portal? How many people did you guys kill to make it work? I'm quite impressed, and I will carefully learn from this example." Kaiser whispered, still smiling.
"You can eat carelessly, but you can't speak carelessly. Apologize to everyone now." Their grandfather shouted, hitting his stick against the floor.
"Grandpa, are you itching to hit the ground with these two? I could understand that the others wanted to kill Anthony. But he's your biological grandson. The only reason I didn't bother was because I thought you were here, and won't let anyone play underhanded tricks. Since you don't care about blood relations, I don't see any reason to be filial to a bastardized old man."
"Kaiser! Do you think we can't do anything to you?"
"You're welcome to try it. At least, I will finally find a valid reason to start a bloodbath here." He whispered in a cold voice, and turned to look at Brent who was also in attendance. His words sent chills down their spine. Even the old monsters among them with years of deep cultivation still felt trepidation from the frightening nineteen years old boy.
"Good, it seems that you all are still the same useless old bones I know. You only bully the weak and know how to use underhanded tricks. I wonder if the rest of the world looking up to dragon clan knows how rotten you all are."
"Kaiser, you keep stepping out of line!" Their grandpa shouted again, earning him a surprise palm strike from Kaiser.
"If after a year my brother doesn't come back alive, hmmm…" Kaiser said coldly, his voice filled with threat. He immediately turned around and left, leaving his words hanging in the air. Not completing his sentence made them even more uncomfortable because they don't know what to guard against. No one was in the mood to continue the feast after facing the deranged Kaiser.
Brent suddenly laughed loudly, pulling the elders out of their reverie.
"Don't worry about that. Soon, he won't be able to do anything. He's just a paper tiger." Brent whispered, his eyes cold and his lips, curving up in a satisfied smile.
