Rise of The Holy-Realm Rebel

Chapter 29: 29. Gift

"Okay. We're out here, what do you want to talk about?" I asked the four men who had now taken suggestive positions around me. It was obvious what their intention was. I merely acted blind to it.

They had brought me to a space that existed right behind the inn. It was mostly obscured from the rest of the town but it also had windows from within the Inn's dining peering into it.

I could already see some gathered around it to watch. I acted blind to those too.

Rather than answer my question, the leader stepped behind my back to not only place his hand on my shoulder but also on my head.

"What are you even hiding?" He declared, uncaring of the coldness that emanated from my figure. Tugging at my brown scarf he tried to pull it off, but my empty grip held onto his arm.

"This Is none of your business," I declared, turning to look up at him. Our gazes connected and he furrowed his brows in discomfort. He was taller.

Letting go of me I watched him circle my figure before standing right in front of me. By this point his men had each taken a step closer. I was convinced they hid weapons.

The grip on my blade increased as I prepared for action. But not yet.

"I bet you'll fetch a lot from the crimson ravens. I've never seen you around these parts, but you have a fairly good-looking face, and build."

"If I heard correctly, I believe only willingly offering yourself, was acceptable?"

A wave of silence washed over our environment before those men burst into mocking laughter.

A muscle jerked on my chin, but I kept my calm.

It was still not time.

"This guy's really an idiot." One of them commented in between his laughter, but I remained unmoving.

"Yes, he did say that. But he said nothing about offering a dumb person whom we claimed belonged to us?" The leader commented, feeling high.

I let them laugh like fools before finally speaking.

"How does that even make sense to you lot? They'd never accept such, or do the rules of a contract elude your mustard-sized brains?"

I struck cords and felt delighted when their features contorted in ego-deflated fury. They could hear some giggling at my perfect counter. They were being laughed at, and they hated it.

"Hey you… whatever is your name. You came here and offended us with those eyes of yours."

"I want to pluck them out, but those misses will be unhappy. So watch your mouth around us," the leader threatened, standing right above me—His gaze showering me with all the hate and blood-lust he could muster. Irrational.

Unintentionally, my heart began to thump in excitement, as all my instincts informed me that I had achieved my desired goal.

Therefore, my heart leaped for joy when I raised my head to look straight into his brown eyes with as much coldness as his hate. Only to utter a question that escalated the situation to its breaking point...

"Or what?" I asked, and pin-drop silence unfolded.

I watched the leader's face twist in ugly rage, but I was battle-ready.

"You bastard!— !!" Before he could move his left arm in the blow he intended to deliver, my right arm flickered—Took hold of the sword in my left grip then placed it on his neck in one fluid but snappy movement.

The brown cloth I had used as a sheath fluttered softly in the air, marking the breaking point.

"Try anything and I'll ensure you never hear with your left ear again," I threatened, a cold smirk on my face. Unfortunately, it only served to incite them further.

Uncaring of my threat I watched the three others unveil their hidden weapons; knives, to lunge themselves at me. At the same time, I saw the leader's shoulder move and understood his intent.

"I warned you," I said, shaking my head even if I took three quick steps back—Abruptly exiting their range; causing them to fall into confusion.

"I'm over here," I declared mockingly, seeing their surprise.

Those men were nothing special—Just a bunch of normal humans who through the strength of their group were able to rule their environment.

I, on the other hand, although immeasurably weaker, was still worlds above them in terms of fighting experience. And this little conflict ended up proving it.

"Are you blind!? Get him!" The leader roared at his group, pointing at an obviously calm me.

I watched all four of them charge towards me. They spaced themselves to ensure they reached blind spots I normally shouldn't be able to account for.

Unfortunately for them, I was anything but normal.

The attention of a seasoned swordsman descended into my being, and it ended up altering their instincts through a solid wave of doubt. But it was too late.

Spotting the loopholes in their formation, I allowed myself to step forward.

However, what happened was more than just a step. Utilizing footwork that was most likely ancient to their era, my figure seemed to sprint out of their view, only to arrive behind them.

Shock and confusion spread through their minds and faces; when for the second time, my figure slipped out of their reach.

"Since you're all a group, I'll just punish you all the same," I announced, behind the quartet.

Before they could turn though, my arm moved.

I did not intend to kill them, so my sword couldn't perform any powerful swings. However, just a bit of force was enough to get what I wanted done.

Allowing the sharp edge of my blade to point at the sky, I swung it upward at the person closest to me, even if it curved when it reached his face.

My blade unleashed a white trail under the light of the night sky, but before I could even lower my blade a cry of pain rang out from the lips of the man I had attacked.

How could he not? His left ear had been cut off... Hehehe.

Appalled by that display but not ready to give up, the remaining three ignored their suffering friend to charge at me again. This time they came at me choosing a tight formation.

"How dare you!" The leader yelled at me, his knife ready to spill blood to avenge his comrade.

"You're not just foolish, you're loud," I clicked my tongue abruptly dashing at them in return.

They had not expected it, but neither of them flinched and instead lunged their knives forward.

Shock and horror unfolded in their eyes when I waved my sword at them, but rather than hurt them with my horizontal slash, they each felt a powerful force slam into their knives before knocking them out of their grip.

The clanging sound of several metallic objects dropping to the ground, rang out, and those men could only look forward in real shock.

How had that been possible? They wondered in a daze. Unfortunately, I wasn't going to let that chance go to waste.

The cries echoed within the Inn's backyard as all three men dropped to the ground, clutching the left side of their faces with their hands, as it no longer featured an ear.

They bled profusely, but I couldn't care less.

"I warned you," I said. pointing my sword at the leader who was now lying on the ground. Unintentional tears streamed down his face from horrible pain.

"Please have mercy, please," he begged shivering at the thought of death. It was war, his death would not count.

Clicking my tongue and shaking my head I allowed my gaze to land on the window that peered into that space. The crowd that had gathered cleared at my gaze. I enjoyed the sight.

The leader continued to beg in the background, but it wasn't until he said something familiar that his words mattered to me.

Amid his pleas, he had mentioned how he worked at the Towns-lord mansion and if he did not show up the next day, his aged mother and younger brother whom he catered for would be taken and forced to act as slaves for the Empire.

A wide grin bloomed on my features at that point. The heavens had bestowed upon me a great gift!

"We needed a way into that same mansion, and it seems you'll be that way," I declared uncaring that he looked confused.
