Chapter 996 Another Mans Invitation
Saron walked toward Amber Skye, a twisted smile spreading across his face.
Watching the figure she thought was "Mason Raymond" get closer, doubt flickered in Amber's eyes.
This Mason Raymond looked different somehow from the one she remembered.
"Stop right there, damn it!" I yelled when I saw what was happening.
Saron ignored me completely and strolled up to Amber, reaching out to stroke her cheek.
Amber's face went bright red, like a ripe apple.
Saron lifted her chin with one finger and grinned. "Hey there, sweetheart. You got the hots for me?"
Amber turned red all the way to her ears, stuttering without getting a single word out.
"Saron! You better cut that shit out!" I snapped, losing my patience.
Saron kept ignoring me, running his fingers along Amber's face. "Tonight, be a good girl and wait for me in your room."
Amber's mouth fell open, her face glowing like a sunset.
Facing this version of "Mason Raymond," she looked completely lost.
Saron seemed pretty pleased with himself, letting out a loud laugh before adding, "Don't forget - keep that door unlocked for me tonight."
With that, Saron walked off, laughing his ass off.
In my head, I couldn't stop cursing. "Saron, are you out of your mind? Give me back my body right now!"
Saron snorted. "What? I'm doing you a favor. Once I sleep with her, she'll never want you again."
"Go screw yourself! I don't want that! Don't mess up my reputation!" I shot back.
Saron huffed. "Too bad. I already made the date, so I'm going tonight no matter what."
"Plus, it's been centuries since I've been with a woman. Just let me have this."
"Let you have my ass!" I growled through gritted teeth.
Saron ignored me, humming some tune like he didn't have a care in the world.
No matter how much I begged, Saron wouldn't budge.
"Look, how about this - I'll get you a body and throw in a bunch of spirit stones. Just give me back my body, okay?" I pleaded desperately.
"Then you can chase all the women you want and do whatever the hell you please, deal?"
Saron stretched and yawned. "No dice. You know how many times I've been shot down because of how I look?"
"I've never had someone actually like me in my entire existence, so I'm trying it tonight."
I clenched my teeth. "I'll find you a drop-dead gorgeous face. I swear everyone will fall for you!"
Saron rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "You serious about that?"
"Dead serious! I keep my word!" I said quickly.
Saron considered it for a moment. "Besides the good looks, I want a strong body too. None of that weak stuff."
"Fine, fine, whatever body you want, I'll find it." I said, my head pounding.
"Alright then." Saron stretched again.
"But I already made plans, so what are you gonna do about tonight?"
I snapped impatiently. "That's my problem. I'll handle it."
Saron sighed, sounding a bit wistful. "What a shame about this gorgeous girl. Back in my day when I had women lined up..."
"Enough with the stories! Just give me back my damn body!" I cursed.
Saron agreed, then added, "I'll probably need to sleep for a while. During that time, you're on your own - no one's gonna save you if things go south."
"I get it." I kept reassuring him.
"How long you think you'll be out?" I asked quickly.
"Hard to tell. Could be two weeks, could be a few years." Saron answered.
"Got it. Just hurry up and give me back my body." I pushed.
Without wasting more time, Saron took one last look around through my eyes.
Then he handed control back to my consciousness.
A flash of light went through my mind, and I finally had my body back.
I looked down at myself, only breathing easy once I confirmed I was back in control.
"Damn, letting someone else use your body is seriously risky." I muttered.
I tried calling out to Saron in my head, but got nothing back.
"He really did crash..." I muttered.
Even though Saron was powerful, his spirit didn't seem as tough as I'd thought.
...
That night.
My head was killing me.
I stood outside Amber's place, not sure if I should go see her.
"Shit, she better not have actually believed that crap." I said quietly.
If Amber was really waiting in her room, how the hell was I supposed to face her?
I stood by her door thinking it over for ages before finally deciding I had to go explain things to Amber.
So I snuck up to Amber's front door.
I knocked softly, and after a bit I heard Amber's voice from inside. "Come... come in. I left the door open for you..."
Hearing that made my headache even worse.
Just what I was afraid of.
With a heavy heart, I pushed the door open.
When it swung open, I saw Amber sitting on her bed in barely-there clothes, looking at me shyly with her hair loose around her shoulders and pale skin showing.
A wooden tub sat beside the bed, already filled with water.
Some kind of sweet scent hung in the air - clearly Amber had taken this seriously and prepared everything.
"You... you came." Amber's voice was barely a whisper, her face red down to her neck.
She kept her head down, like she couldn't bring herself to look straight at me.
