Chapter 994 I Came To Save Her
What the hell was happening?
What caused that crackling noise when I made a fist?
The power felt incredibly weak, barely making any difference, just a tiny boost.
But this strange energy that wasn't mine caught me off guard.
"Thunder element." Right then, Saron's voice echoed in my head.
"You're damn lucky, all things considered."
I blurted out, "Thunder element? What's that supposed to mean?"
Saron answered, "It's natural energy that flows through the world. People who wield this usually have it from birth."
"Take wind users - some folks are born controlling air currents and fighting with them."
"Others handle water, getting way stronger when they're near it."
I got excited. "So I can control lightning now?"
"In your dreams," Saron scoffed.
"You just stumbled into some thunder element power by accident. Be grateful you can even tap into it, forget about mastering it."
I made a small noise of understanding. I tried pulling at the energy inside me but couldn't make it work.
The force was too faint, almost like it wasn't there. It wouldn't do anything useful and could easily be ignored.
Still, there was no denying my physical strength had grown.
"Hold on - that means the Ice Palace Master had ice and snow element power." I suddenly slapped my forehead!
That explained why the Ice Palace was built in such brutal conditions.
"Different strokes for different folks," I mumbled.
"I think there's a Walters family up northwest. Word is they can use thunder power." Something clicked in my memory.
The Walters family had come after me before, and I'd planned to wipe them out completely back then.
At the time, I had no clue what elements were. I just knew they could use lightning somehow.
"I should check out the Walters family eventually. Might learn something useful," I thought quietly.
If I mastered this element, it would definitely level up.
True control had to come from pushing this element to its limits.
I stopped dwelling on it and headed toward Southerntain Village instead.
——
Southerntain Village.
Fear had gripped the entire village for days now.
Frost Kendrick and his crew were Martial Saint Realm fighters, way beyond what Southerntain Village could handle.
"Amber, you really don't know where Mason Raymond is...?" An old man from the village asked, his voice shaking.
Amber Skye pressed her lips together and stayed quiet.
The old man went on, "Amber, I'm not asking you to sell out Mason Raymond, but... I can't stand watching innocent villagers - old folks, kids, everyone - die for no reason."
Tears welled up in Amber's eyes. She whispered, "Grandma Estelle, I honestly don't know where he is. He hasn't reached out to me..."
The elder called Grandma Estelle let out a heavy sigh. Just as she was about to respond, her head suddenly burst apart!
Blood sprayed across Amber Skye's face, turning her expression to stone.
"Enough of this pointless talk." Frost Kendrick stepped forward, speaking without emotion.
He looked down at Amber Skye, smirked, and said, "If you don't want more deaths on your hands, figure out how to get Mason Raymond here. Got it?"
Amber stared daggers at Frost Kendrick, her eyes burning with rage!
The next moment, Amber lifted her arm and swung at Frost Kendrick.
But Frost Kendrick was a Martial Saint - no ordinary girl could hurt him.
With just a look, Frost Kendrick sent Amber flying back several meters!
"Idiot." Frost Kendrick dusted off his clothes.
"If you weren't useful, you'd already be dead!"
Amber tried getting up but couldn't manage it.
She stared at Grandma Estelle's body, tears pouring down her cheeks.
Crushed by despair and helplessness, Amber sobbed uncontrollably.
Right then, she understood that medical skills alone couldn't save everyone.
Frost Kendrick's deadline was almost up.
"How much time's left?" Frost Kendrick asked his companions.
"Thirty minutes," someone next to him replied.
Frost Kendrick glanced at Amber and snorted, "I figured she meant something special to Mason Raymond, but guess I was wrong."
The guy beside him chuckled, "Mr. Kendrick, everyone knows Mason Raymond only has eyes for Mabel Sean. Why would he care about someone like her?"
Frost Kendrick grunted, "Loving one woman doesn't stop a man from wanting others. What guy doesn't have wandering eyes?"
Done with that conversation, Frost Kendrick grabbed Amber and dragged her outside.
He hauled Amber up into the air, leaving her hanging there.
Then Frost Kendrick said coldly, "I warned you before - if Mason Raymond doesn't show up in three days, I'll massacre this village!"
"Time's up and he's still nowhere to be seen, so I've got no choice but to start killing!"
After saying that, Frost Kendrick looked at Amber in his grip and said flatly, "Since you showed me disrespect, you're going first."
With that, Frost Kendrick grabbed Amber and hurled her down like a rag doll!
Amber's body dropped fast. She shut her eyes in despair, ready for death.
But then she felt warmth, like she'd landed in caring arms.
She opened her eyes and found herself actually being held!
Looking up, she saw the face she'd been dreaming about!
——
I caught Amber and carefully set her down on the ground.
Amber looked shocked and thrilled, but couldn't find words.
I frowned and said, "I remember giving you a token, right? Why didn't you use it?"
Amber shook her head without speaking.
I didn't push for answers but turned my cold stare toward Frost Kendrick.
Frost Kendrick looked stunned too. Then he started laughing, "I actually thought you were some kind of saint! Hahaha! Aren't you head over heels for Mabel Sean? How could you risk everything for this woman?"
I stared coldly at Frost Kendrick and said, "I came to save her because she saved me once. That's it - no other feelings involved."
Hearing those words, disappointment flashed in Amber's eyes.
