Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse

Chapter 267: Ouyang Jin's Display of Power

By the end of the conference meeting in the military base, several senior officers had submitted their resignation and requested to be discharged.

Because many protocols had fallen with the fall of the system, it didn't need a long process to get everything done.

By the end of the night, Ouyang Jin and a few others were no longer members of the military force.

Ouyang Jin went back to his office with a rare smile on his face. He had not expected everything to go so smoothly.

Fortunately, he wasn't the only one who wanted to quit and others had also brought up the matter. He had just followed behind them and submitted his resignation with the mass.

This was a better result than anticipated. Moreover, he had also alleviated any suspicions that may have followed him.

Now, he could go back and concentrate on forming a compact team with Lu Zhen and the others.

He took everything from his office and headed towards the gate without looking back.

Outside the gate, zombies were roaming around because they could smell the strong vitality of humans beyond the walls.

It was a good thing that they had not yet realized that they could scale the walls and reach the people on the other side.

Just like Leng Pan, Ouyang Jin looked at the zombies running towards him as soon as he exited the gate and wondered how long it would take them to realize that they could climb the wall to get to their prey.

As the zombies got closer, Ouyang Jin waved his hand and a three-meter-wide tornado swept from where he was towards them.

Wherever the tornado passed, it would sweep the zombies in the way.

In this way, the tornado led in the front, and Ouyang Jin followed behind leisurely to a car parked across from the gate of the military base.

He opened the back door and dumped a large box there before closing it and moving to the passenger seat and getting in.

As the car drove into the distance, the tornado also dissipated. However, there were only pieces of flesh and bones on the ground when the wind dispersed.

As it turned out, there were blades hidden in the tornado and all the zombies that had been swept away had been cut into pieces.

This was a lethal superpower. A superpower that could hurt an enemy very badly.

Several soldiers stood at the gate and watched this scene unfold and most of them made a decision in their hearts.

The military was obviously not what it used to be. Something was wrong with its leadership, and they thought that it was better to leave since those who made the place sane had already left.

Thus, it was better to follow them and see if they had a future with them.

Actually, this was within Ouyang Jin's calculations. How could he have gone through another apocalypse and not learnt anything?

He knew that in times of peril, everyone would want to align themselves with the strong. So, his little display was meant to attract the attention of potential members he could recruit.

As they had talked about with Lu Zhen and Leng Pan, they needed to expand their team, but they wanted people who would be pro-human.

Soldiers were a good choice because they had training, experience, and the loyalty drilled into their bones about protecting their country.

Only a few of them have gone astray. However, they still needed to sift through those who show interest in joining them in case they end up recruiting traitors who would stab them in the back.

"Did you really have to do that?" Momo, who was driving the car, asked with her eyes still on the somewhat ruined road full of potholes.

"Of course, I had to. If I don't do that, how are we going to get new people to join us? You know that our team is small and won't be enough to do what we need to do." Ouyang Jin placed one hand under his chin with the elbow on the open window.

"You could have been a little low-key. Use some wind blades or something. Why the tornado that must have been witnessed even by those inside the base?" Momo was actually older than Ouyang Jin in this life and treated him as a younger brother.

She hoped that he didn't do anything that would get him into trouble.

"That wouldn't have attracted the attention I needed from the soldiers. Wind blades are too ordinary, most of the superpower users with the wind element can deploy wind blades.

I needed something that would leave them in awe." Ouyang Jin had been a soldier for two lifetimes.

He understood how soldiers think, so he was willing to take the risk. Actually, even though Commander Qui might have some influence and hidden trump cards, they weren't weak either. So, it wasn't necessary for them to hide their power.

"Okay, whatever you say. You are the boss." Momo didn't have much to say anymore.

She was worried, but that was nothing. They had faced worse scenarios in the past. So, they could just take whatever comes their way.

As the car fell into silence, everyone had their own thoughts.

Ouyang Jin wanted to go and see Lu Zhen so that they could begin their strategies.

He was afraid that Commander Qui would soon catch on to the fact that they had regained memories of their past lives and start blocking their way in every corner.

He might even behave the same way his superior had behaved in their past lives and become a traitor of the human race.

Momo was also thinking about how she will be able to help the team by organizing everything and assigning tasks to the current members so that everything could run smoothly.

She understood that Leng Pan despised such administrative duties and would rather fight than sit behind a desk.

Thus, all that fell in her because it was what she was best at.
