91 Chapter 91
*Fwoosh*
In the middle of the cold and empty hallway, Sangrea's figured emerged as she slowly phased out of the dark thick walls which encoated the room that they were in.
Upon stepping into the hallway, the very first thing she noticed were the shattered shards of all her precious vases given to her by her father.
"...These were expensive..." She muttered after staring at them for a few second before looking down the hall.
Upon turning her head, her entire body froze seemed to freeze for a moment as she tried to make out the sight in her mind.
Before her were many corpses belonging to Vampires which had been beheaded and had all their blood sucked out of them. She recognised a few of the Nobles as he walked by them.
Although their rank was low, viscounts and barons, they were still quite influential and known in the Vampire world.
'Or at least that's what I think... I never really paid attention to that sort of stuff...' She thought to herself.
That being said, for this situation to have been caused by Xavier alone, even this was beyond her wildest expectations.
The young lady continued her quiet walk through the hall, glancing through an open door and out the window at the backyard. The garden was ruined, all the plans which she worked on to cultivate with the servants had been ripped out, one by one during a great battle.
After walking into the room and moving closer to the window, she was able to see even more corpses belonging to other Vampires resting on the grass.
The Vampires all wore the night blue uniform indicating that they were all a part of the Royal Vampire Syndicate.
The queen's personal army of Vampires.
'To think the queen would send this many just to get me...'
After staring at the corpses for a few seconds, Sangrea's eyes drifted upwards. And when they did, she froze again.
[Giant Red Blood Orb]
A giant crimson sphere of blood levitated firmly in the air above the corpses. The blood only slightly fluctuated and moved.
It was clear that it was an accumulation of the blood of all the corpses but how was it possible for someone to merge it all together just like that?
"This must be Xavier's doing..." Muttered Sangrea as she sighed. "Just what is his ability?" She asked before turning away from the window.
'I didn't sense his presence out there... Rather I haven't sensed it at all... There's a presence that resembles his, but it's different... More refined and darker-'
*Shatter*
Sangrea's ears twitched as they caught the sound of something shattering coming from a room all the way down the hall.
Sangrea quickly rushed out of the room, following the source of the sound before turning right on a turn into another hallway.
The lights in this one were flashing on and off, the walls and ceiling had clearly suffered from more damage in this part of the building.
Not wanting to waste a second, she quickly turned towards the room closest to where she recalled hearing the sound before rushing towards it.
The door was open and the wall beside it was broken down.
'The bloods still fresh..' Sangrea thought to herself as she slowly rose out of a shadow by the room's door.
Only her head had partially risen out in order for her to stay concealed in case she'd need to save Xavier, or deal with any unfortunate situation.
But after peeking through she realised just how far off the mark she was.
'...'
There she stood speechlessly staring at Xavier's back, as he stood by the room's window holding onto a sword impaled through another Vampire's heart.
She watched as the Vampire's life left its eyes and the blood dripping down it's body streamed towards the giant sphere of blood outside.
She then watched as Xavier pulled his sword out of the body before kicking the Vampire outside.
Upon staring at the sword, she quickly noticed it. It's shape and size, it resembled greatly the sword which belonged to Gale.
Seeing this she let out a sigh of relief that Xavier was able to survive a fight against him. But at the same time she was still a bit cautious.
Xavier's hair had changed colours into a complete silver. His bloodlust was more tranquil, his flow of energy was more contained... And above all, he was stronger.
'Is it really possible for someone to change this much in less than half an hour...?' Sangrea wondered as she continued to observe him.
She honestly couldn't wait to happily pounce on him for staying safe but there was a chance she was mistaking it and it wasn't even Xavier.
"Sangrea, that was the last one." Said Xavier as he turned around with a bright smile.
His eyes had returned to their normal crimson red but for an instant she saw it, mechanical eyes resembling a clock.
'Did I... Imagine that?' She wondered before quickly rising out of the shadow.
Upon doing so, Xavier dropped his sword before walking over to her.
"Were you able to keep everyone safe?" He asked with a smile.
'He got taller...' Sangrea thought to herself.
Sangrea stared at him and his smile with narrowed eyes for a few moments in order to confirm it.
'That carefree look... That smile... Yep, that's him alright...' She thought to herself as she nodded.
While nodding, Xavier gave her a few pats with his unexpectedly clean hand before responding. "That's good... Thank you for keeping my family safe."
After saying so, however, his brows raised in surprise as he witnessed tears streaming down the young lady's face as she stared at him with bubbly eyes.
"Wh-What? What's wrong? Were you hurt on your way here?" Xavier asked as he began to hastily look around.
Upon doing so, he noticed a mirror on the corner of the room. There was something off about the mirror, but before he could make out what it was-
*Thud*
Sangrea's head suddenly collided against his chin, rocking his head back as she leapt at him with a hug.
"Ouch-" Xavier groaned as she wrapped her arms around him.
Her embrace and warmth felt as comfortable as always.
'She smells nice... I'm covered in blood though, wouldn't want to get her dirty.. But at this point, she's definitely not letting go.'
Xavier recalled the time they woke up in the same bed with a pleased smile while Sangrea cried her eyes out.
"Do you have any idea... How worried I was?"
"I told you not to worry, I was fine." Xavier brushed it aside with the same carefree smile.
"I know but still... I've already lost you once... And no matter what I don't want it to happen again... Not like last time, please..."
The carefree smile quickly faded from his face and instead a serious one emerged as he recalled something.
-Memory
"How do you even... Feel about Sangrea?" Gale asked with blood gushing out of his mouth.
Xavier's shadowy face lit up for a moment as thunder struck in the distance, highlightng his expressionless face.
"To me, she was just a useful tool to use in order to rescue my family. She was powerful with connections, so I played along acting as her husband. She is and will always be nothing more than a tool for me to use."
Gale's surprised expression slowly shifted into a smile as he muttered.
"A tool huh... You're a bad liar... You think I didn't notice? At the table when I asked for her hand in marriage, you sent me a glare unlike any other I'd ever experienced... You say she's just a tool but in reality..."
"You care for her deeply, don't you-"
-Memory End.
'I care for her...? No... From the start, I've only ever been using her... Someone like me... Doesn't have the right to care for her.'
"Sangrea... Maybe... You are better off without me."
Sangrea's heart skipped a beat as she heard his question. Not wanting to believe his ears, she moved her face away from his chest to look at him.
Xavier's expression was serious, he wasn't joking.
Xavier's serious expression slowly faded into one of guilt as his words somehow made even more tears start to flow out of the frozen Sangrea's eyes. She didn't know what to say.
'Her feelings for me seem genuine enough... I'd rather not hurt her anymore than I already have.'
"Ah, don't worry. I'll still stay with you and keep you safe just, in a romantic sense we'll-"
Xavier was interrupted as Sangrea's head slammed against his chin as she leapt at him again, knocking the two of them over to the floor where she was on top.
"No..." She muttered with a trembling mouth.
The moment was extremely stimulating for Xavier especially now that she was in her adult form, Xavier was finding it hard to stay concentrated with her huge racks resting on his chest.
"But Sangrea, there are lots of better Vampires or people out there that can-"
"No. I don't care... No... That answer won't change." She mumbled.
"..."
Xavier wasn't sure what to say.
"It can only be you... I don't care if there's better or worst... And I don't plan on finding out... I only want to be with you..."
It was with that final straw that Sangrea broke down into a bucket of tears.
"I'm sorry... I'm really sorry... You're mad at me for putting you and your family at risk aren't-"
"It has nothing to do with that." Xavier interrupted as he grabbed a hold of her face, squeezing her cheeks as he did so.
