Chapter 69: Trapped in the Illusion Array
Moments later, they saw the Cannibal Wolves and that octopus start to fight.
Duan Gujin and Meng Yun held their breath, their eyes wide open, staring intently ahead, observing their strengths.
After a while, Duan Gujin discovered that the Cannibal Wolves could actually exhale black fog.
When they exhaled the black fog, the skin on the octopus would corrode, and the corrosion happened very quickly.
Seeing the octopus's huge claws blasted by the black fog from the Cannibal Wolves and getting burnt like scorching, they were shocked.
Duan Gujin then realized that these Cannibal Wolves in front of him far surpassed his knowledge.
Duan Gujin's eyes flickered; in his memory, he did not recall Cannibal Wolves having such abilities.
"Could it be that what I'm seeing is not Cannibal Wolves?"
He pondered for a moment, then decided to continue observing.
Moments later, he saw the Cannibal Wolves successfully kill the octopus, dismember it, and then drag the octopus's limbs into the sea.
Seeing this scene, their faces drastically changed.
Meng Yun's heart started pounding rapidly, terrified by the brutality of the Cannibal Wolves.
"Let's keep moving forward! We'll be fine as long as we are careful!"
Duan Gujin said.
Meng Yun slightly furrowed her brows, agreed with an 'okay,' and then followed Duan Gujin forward.
They continued on for about a kilometer, when they encountered a dense white fog ahead.
"It's vapor!"
Duan Gujin looked at the white fog ahead, his brows tightly knitted; he discovered that the white fog contained a strange energy that blocked his Divine Sense Inspection.
Meng Yun also noticed her Divine Sense Inspection was blocked by the strange energy, and she understood that if they forcefully entered, it would be easy to be ambushed by hidden enemies or Demon Beasts.
Duan Gujin then instructed her to take some Elixir Pills outside to recover some Primordial Power.
Once their condition reached the peak, they entered the white fog together.
Before they even entered, they saw countless bodies of Human Clan ahead.
Seeing this, Meng Yun instantly vomited.
"This is simply hell on earth!"
Duan Gujin immediately pulled Meng Yun down to hide; they did not leave right away but checked the surroundings.
Moments later, Duan Gujin sensed living creatures approaching.
"Don't speak, there's something!"
He silently transmitted to Meng Yun, warning her not to speak.
Meng Yun hastily nodded in agreement, and then they observed the surroundings together.
After a while, they saw a figure appearing ahead.
Duan Gujin's eyes widened as he stared at that figure, judging from the figure's movements that it must be a member of the Human Clan.
A bit later, they saw a large group of Cannibal Wolves appear behind that figure.
Duan Gujin's heart started throbbing wildly; judging by the calm demeanor of that figure, he assumed that the figure wasn't afraid of the Cannibal Wolves behind him.
As time gradually passed, soon, Duan Gujin saw that figure standing between two large groups of Cannibal Wolves.
At this moment, he suddenly realized.
"These Cannibal Wolves are with him!"
Duan Gujin hurriedly grabbed Meng Yun's hand, signaling her not to make any rash moves.
Meng Yun quickly nodded, she too realized that the figure and at least fifty Cannibal Wolves were together.
They continued cautiously, thinking they could evade that figure and those Cannibal Wolves.
Suddenly, Duan Gujin's mind jerked violently, sensing a dangerous premonition.
He quickly pushed Meng Yun aside and his body fell on top of hers.
"Whoosh!"
A streak of white light whizzed past behind him, striking the mountain behind them and immediately blasting off a lot of gravel.
"We've been discovered!"
Duan Gujin quickly got up from the ground, grabbed Meng Yun's hand, and started to rapidly escape.
"Awooo! Awooo! Awooo!"
The next moment, the ear-piercing howls of those Cannibal Wolves sounded behind them.
Duan Gujin frowned upon hearing this, but Meng Yun felt differently; in her heart, those Cannibal Wolves were utterly disgusting, and she felt an intense fear.
Thus, quickly, her legs became somewhat soft.
Her slowing down consequently caused Duan Gujin to also slow down.
Seeing the bad sign, Duan Gujin immediately extended his arms to pick her up completely, his body transforming into a streak of light, rushing at extreme speed from the cliff.
Meng Yun's face blushed, she looked back and saw at least fifty Cannibal Wolves chasing after them.
"Duan Gujin, faster, they are about to catch up!" Meng Yun anxiously shouted.
"Okay!"
Duan Gujin certainly did not want to be caught by the Cannibal Wolves behind him, he circulated his entire Primordial Power, employed Mad Python Boxing movement technique, and rapidly rushed towards the top of the cliff.
As time ticked away, many Cannibal Wolves could no longer keep up with him.
15 minutes later, Duan Gujin could no longer see any Cannibal Wolves behind him.
"Great! I finally shook them off!"
He excitedly communicated to Meng Yun.
"Uh-huh!"
Meng Yun quickly nodded.
Duan Gujin quickly put down Meng Yun, he swallowed some Elixir Pills, and then sat cross-legged, rapidly recovering his strength.
As time slowly passed,
within less than 15 minutes, he suddenly felt a surge of Cold Energy envelop the surroundings, causing his entire body to shiver uncontrollably.
"It's so cold! Why did it suddenly become so cold?"
