Chapter 65: Meteor Spark
Three days later, Duan Gujin received a request from Meng Yun, whose subordinates had managed to purchase many Spiritual Medicines listed in the Elixir Recipe from Qiankun Country; she had gathered all the required Spiritual Medicines.
"How coincidental? All purchased?" Duan Gujin's expression changed slightly upon hearing the news.
"Yes, my Master also put in a lot of effort."
"Oh, so that's the case!"
Duan Gujin's mind stirred, realizing that with Country Gulai's wealth and the power of Green Cloud Sect, it would, indeed, be easy to acquire all the Spiritual Medicines needed for that Elixir Recipe.
"Will it be your Master personally refining the Elixir, or shall I do the refining?"
Duan Gujin asked curiously.
"My Master has already begun the refining process! I am anxiously waiting for the result right now," said Meng Yun.
"Oh!"
Duan Gujin exhaled, naturally hoping Meng Yun's Master would succeed in creating the Detoxification Elixir.
Only by doing so could he gain the trust of the Monarch of Country Gulai; he could then use the Monarch's hand to eliminate Cao Dingtian.
The following day, Meng Yun hurriedly told Duan Gujin that her entire family had taken the Detoxification Elixir, and their condition was slowly improving.
"That's good news!"
Duan Gujin breathed a sigh of relief, his mind at ease.
"Duan Gujin, my imperial father told me that he agrees to all your previous requests! Soon, a large number of Imperial Guards will enter to take responsibility for protecting your entire family's safety!"
Meng Yun said.
"Then I must thank the Monarch," responded Duan Gujin.
"Have you encountered a very difficult enemy?"
Meng Yun furrowed her brows and asked.
She felt that Duan Gujin's request was absurd. If it had been any other Alchemist with the same merits as Duan Gujin, under normal circumstances, that Alchemist would usually ask for some rewards.
Though such rewards come in various forms, it seemed uncommon for someone like Duan Gujin to ask for protection like this.
The reason for Duan Gujin's request, simply put, was that he had an enemy to deal with.
To protect his family's lives, he thus asked for the protection of the Imperial Guard.
"Yes, that enemy is really hard to deal with; the Duan Family's enemy is within the court!"
Duan Gujin knew he might very well seek Meng Yun's help in requesting military protection later on, so he explained some of the reasons, but he did not specifically name that enemy.
Upon hearing Duan Gujin's words, Meng Yun believed that Duan Gujin indeed had an enemy in the court.
"So that's how it is! I originally thought the Imperial Palace was chaotic enough, but I didn't expect true peace to be so rare in this world!" Meng Yun said in a deep tone.
"Tell your imperial father to ensure that the Imperial Guard takes good care of the Duan Family's safety!" Duan Gujin earnestly advised.
"Alright, don't worry! Besides, the Imperial Guard needs something to do while being maintained, so it's good for them to have tasks!" Meng Yun replied.
"When will you leave?"
"Not so soon! My family has just taken the Detoxification Elixir, and they are still in the observation period!" Meng Yun said.
"Don't worry, your family will be alright!"
Duan Gujin originally intended to tell Meng Yun that in the future, he would most likely be facing someone from the Duan Family, and that person was Prime Minister Cao. However, after a second thought, he abandoned this idea.
He had previously threatened the vice dean of the Star Moon Academy, and he worried that if the vice dean told Prime Minister Cao about the coercion.
Undoubtedly, this would be blatantly telling Prime Minister Cao that the person who threatened the vice dean of the Star Moon Academy was none other than him, Duan Gujin.
This would only make Prime Minister Cao consider him a thorn in his side even more.
"I can't afford to startle the snake by hitting the grass!"
Duan Gujin didn't want to cause unnecessary trouble, so he didn't tell Meng Yun that his enemy in the court was Prime Minister Cao.
After a period of adjustment, Duan Gujin finally decided to practice the Sword Qi that suited him.
Before this, in order to lay a foundation, he diligently practiced Mad Python Boxing, a martial skill that could rapidly strengthen his physique.
This time, he intended to practice the Sword Qi suitable for his current cultivation level, to confront his enemies.
Mad Python Boxing, although it maximizes the rapid strengthening of his body, is not suitable for long-distance combat.
"It just so happens that my current cultivation is also enough for me to use Meteor Spark!"
Duan Gujin had previously wanted to see if he could execute the Upper-level Dark-level Martial Technique, Meteor Spark.
He had tried practicing it before, only to discover he failed; his Primordial Power was not sufficient to use Meteor Spark.
Today, he found that the Primordial Power within his body had greatly improved, enough to give him the necessary Primordial Power to execute Meteor Spark.
Meteor Spark is a form of intangible Sword Qi, but it doesn't require the cultivator to wield a treasure sword to kill enemies.
The cultivator channels Primordial Power into their right hand's middle and index fingers, and then releases all of the Primordial Power at once.
The released Primordial Power transforms into a sharp Qi Sword, capable of destroying objects in front of it and killing enemies at a long distance.
Clearly, the effects of this kind of Sword Qi are comparable to Hidden Weapons.
But this Sword Qi is even faster and doesn't require any Hidden Weapons. One only needs to channel the Primordial Power within their body into the middle and index fingers of the right hand according to the circulation method, and then directly release that Primordial Power.
Duan Gujin took a deep breath, channeled the Primordial Power in his body following the circulation method of Meteor Spark, and eventually infused the Primordial Power into the middle and index fingers of his right hand.
Once he gathered the Primordial Power, with a thought, a Sword Qi burst forth from his right hand's middle and index fingers, shooting straight towards a big tree thick enough to be embraced by one person.
A loud boom followed, and the big tree before him was blasted with a huge, deep pit, with bark and wood splinters scattered everywhere.
Duan Gujin immediately approached to check the power of the Meteor Spark he had just released, and upon getting closer to the big tree, he saw that its center had been blasted with a deep pit the size of an adult man's head.
"Not bad in terms of power!"
He quickly introspected his body to see how much Primordial Power he had left.
After a while, he let out a breath.
"I'm dizzy, I now have less than ten percent of my Primordial Power left! It seems, unless I'm in a life-and-death situation, I definitely can't use Meteor Spark lightly!"
Of course, Duan Gujin knew the formidable power of Meteor Spark, but it consumed an excessive amount of Primordial Power.
On the battlefield, unless there's only one enemy, otherwise Meteor Spark is utterly useless.
"Too bad, my cultivation is low now, and the Primordial Power within my body is not abundant, I can't activate Meteor Spark multiple times!"
Duan Gujin judged that the Meteor Spark he had just released could obliterate any strong person below the Innate Realm, and even those powerful within the Martial Artist Realm would likely not escape death.
But undoubtedly, his biggest problem now is his low cultivation level; he is merely at the Yellow Innate First Level cultivation.
If he could improve his cultivation more, he would be able to execute more Meteor Sparks.
The power of a single Meteor Spark is already astonishing, should he encounter powerful enemies, continuously releasing Meteor Spark might enable him to defeat them regardless of their strength.
Moreover, he hasn't yet fully unleashed the true power of Meteor Spark.
