Reverse War Surpass Immortal

Chapter 38: Annoying Flies

Cao Wentian's mind quickly flashed through Duan Gujin and Meng Yun discussing Alchemy together. They hit it off, and then they fought hundreds of rounds inside the Alchemy Room. He was instantly furious, wishing he could grind their bones to dust and scatter their ashes.

"I can't let those despicable wretches get away with this!"

Cao Wentian, assuming the worst of Duan Gujin and Meng Yun, imagined them up to no good together.

"I must stop them! Meng Yun is mine! As long as I am stealthy about my actions, Duan Gujin will be erased from this world immediately!"

Cao Wentian made up his mind, and a bold plan emerged in his heart.

Soon, Cao Wentian conveyed his thoughts to that officer. After listening, the officer's first thought was to wonder if Cao Wentian had lost his mind?

If Cao Wentian wasn't out of his mind, then why would he think of murdering a Sixth-grade Alchemist's Disciple? Doesn't he know that if things come to light, it could bring disaster upon the Cao Family?

Even though the Cao Family held great power in Country Gulai, for Sixth-grade Alchemists, annihilating a small country like Country Gulai would be effortless.

"Young Master, if we fail, the Master behind Duan Gujin will certainly not spare the Cao Family, and we can't afford to offend that Sixth-grade Alchemist! You must think thrice before acting!"

The officer earnestly admonished.

After hearing the officer's words, Cao Wentian thought it over and felt that the officer was not wrong.

"Yes, you're absolutely right! Considering that there's a Sixth-grade Alchemist backing Duan Gujin, he surely possesses some astonishing Elixir Pills. If you fail to eliminate him completely, and instead he escapes, the Cao Family will really be in grave danger when he retaliates!"

Cao Wentian thought it over and felt that the officer's words made a lot of sense.

"So, it's very likely that Duan Gujin is hiding his true strength. I need to prepare more experts! Do you have any way to get me more experts?" Cao Wentian asked the officer.

"Ordinary experts are probably not enough to get close to Duan Gujin. Only the highest caliber of experts can approach him! Young Master, I'm afraid you'll have to ask for help from assassin organizations!"

The reason why the officer said this was intentional. He did not want to confront Duan Gujin directly, knowing that if he failed, the consequences would be unthinkable; his entire family might suffer the revenge of a Sixth-grade Alchemist.

Therefore, he made such a suggestion, intending for Cao Wentian to hire an assassin organization to eliminate Duan Gujin.

"Right! I should seek assistance from those assassin organizations! You go and inquire about the cost of killing Duan Gujin!"

Cao Wentian pondered for a while before giving the order.

"Alright!"

The officer felt a tingling on his scalp, very aware of how dreadful the revenge of a Sixth-grade Alchemist could be.

So, he wished not to get involved in this messy affair, feeling that Cao Wentian was outright insane to provoke a Sixth-grade Alchemist's Disciple.

Yet, after yesterday's events, Duan Gujin became very proactive in getting close to Meng Yun.

Seeing Cao Wentian's displeased face, Duan Gujin secretly rejoiced in his heart.

"Kid, I'm going to humiliate you just like this!"

Duan Gujin had traveled across many Advanced Planes and knew many extraordinary tales and rare Spirit Pills.

Now, he was using his past experiences to attract the attention of a naïve young girl, which was quite simple for him.

Before long, Meng Yun was captivated by his profound knowledge, chatting and laughing with Duan Gujin.

Seeing the admiring gaze Meng Yun directed at Duan Gujin made Cao Wentian's blood boil with rage, as if he was witnessing Duan Gujin and Meng Yun having an intimate encounter right in front of him.

They were humiliating him right in front of his eyes!

"What a shameless pair! Watch how I'll kill you both!"

That night, Cao Wentian, through one of his father's subordinates, invited three Assassins with a hefty sum to eliminate Duan Gujin.

"Only by getting rid of Duan Gujin will Meng Yun be truly mine!"

Cao Wentian took a deep breath, praying in his heart that the three assassins would succeed.

Duan Gujin originally did not want to be beset by troubles both from within and without, but his biggest worry had come true.

Just 15 minutes ago, as he stepped out of Star Moon Academy, he was confronted by a large group of Duan Family Disciples and a young man whose body radiated Innate Yuan Qi, with eighteen red Heavenly Dragon Martial Souls above his head.

Seeing Ye Wanghui by the young man's side, Duan Gujin guessed that this might be the help Ye Wanghui had summoned.

"Do you need something from me?"

Duan Gujin, seeing himself blocked, asked directly.

"Yes, Gujin, this is my cousin. He wishes to challenge you!" Ye Wanghui said uneasily.

"Hahaha!"

Duan Gujin laughed arrogantly.

"What are you laughing at?" The young man took offense and immediately scolded angrily.

"I'm laughing at a man in his twenties, daring to challenge a not yet seventeen-year-old like me. Have you no shame?" Duan Gujin responded coldly.

"This is a fair duel! You possess an orange Martial Soul! Your strength should be similar to mine! So, our duel is fair!" the young man stated.

"Heh! What kind of fairness is this!"

Duan Gujin's eyes twinkled for a moment as he looked at the Duan Family Disciples in front of him, internally sighing.

"Damn it! I've been training hard to save the lives of you Duan Family Disciples, and yet you people just stab me in the back!"

Duan Gujin exhaled deeply, looking at those incorrigible Duan Family Disciples, a thought flashed through his mind that maybe he should only save those close to him and shouldn't bother with these Duan Family Disciples.

The thought was fleeting, and he abandoned it.

After all, family disputes aside, as long as the Duan Family Disciples don't do anything utterly heartless, they still have a chance to live.

"What if I don't accept your challenge?" Duan Gujin asked helplessly.

"Then you'll have to kneel and apologize to my brother!" the young man stated sternly.

"What are you risking for this challenge? An arm, or a leg?"

Duan Gujin inquired.

"What do you mean?" the young man asked, puzzled.

"What will be your penalty if you lose?" Duan Gujin asked gravely.

"I will only win, not lose. Defeating you would be as easy as lifting a finger!" the young man declared.

"Fine, I accept your challenge. Bring out your written challenge!" Duan Gujin demanded.

"Good!" The young man immediately produced a written challenge and handed it to Duan Gujin.

After Duan Gujin quickly scanned the document with his Divine Sense to confirm there were no errors, he allowed the young man to ascend a nearby platform with him to duel.
