Chapter 151: Innate Fifth Layer
Duan Gujin knew that as a True Disciple of Green Cloud Sect, one had to undergo a deadly seclusion, which had a benefit of rapidly increasing one's Cultivation.
Moreover, there would usually be an elder taking care of the Disciple in seclusion, and that elder would definitely not let anything happen to them.
It was precisely because Duan Gujin feared that the elders of Green Cloud Sect would discover the Demonized Martial Soul within his body that he requested a particularly secluded place for his training and living quarters.
After leaving the inn, Duan Gujin returned to the Alchemy Secret Room.
He had prepared many Spiritual Medicines and concocted a large amount of Innate Primordial Pills, intending to break through to the Innate Fifth Layer.
On the sixteenth day after Duan Gujin had joined the Green Cloud Sect, he managed to break through to the Innate Fifth Layer by consuming a large quantity of Innate Primordial Pills.
Now that he had broken through to the Innate Fifth Layer, there was no trace of surprise in his heart; he had approached the brink of the Fifth Layer before but, due to insufficient accumulation, he was not able to break through all at once.
With an ample supply of Innate Primordial Pills now, he consumed them as if popping pills.
Although he successfully broke through to the Innate Fifth Layer, there were some accidents during the breakthrough that still send shivers down Duan Gujin's spine when he recalls them.
It turned out that while breaking through to the Innate Fifth Layer, he found that the Demonized Martial Soul within his body once again showed restlessness.
Luckily, he managed to suppress the restlessness of the Demonized Martial Soul in time; otherwise, he couldn't imagine the consequences.
"Why is this happening?"
Duan Gujin took a deep breath, now realizing that the Demonized Martial Soul was a double-edged sword.
It could help him rapidly increase his Cultivation, but it could also potentially ruin all his plans.
After pondering for some time, he couldn't figure out a solution, so he could only stop thinking about this thorny issue.
"I must race against time to improve my Cultivation!"
Duan Gujin had previously arranged a multitude of arrays that shielded against Divine Sense Inspection within the Alchemy Secret Room; he believed that unless it was the Sect Master of Green Cloud Sect, Zhu Ge Hongyun, nobody would be able to use Divine Sense to penetrate the array.
He was certain that whatever he did in the Cultivation Chamber would be unknown to the outside world unless it was a master with an extremely strong Telekinesis that intervened.
Two days later, Lie Lei called over Duan Gujin, tentatively asking if he knew about the Netherworld Sect's recent discovery of an ancient site.
"Yes! That place is no ordinary site, my Master told me it is a Transmission Altar of the Netherworld Dark Clan. Sect Master Lie, do you know what the Netherworld Dark Clan is?"
Duan Gujin inquired.
"I don't know, just tell me!"
Lie Lei's eyes suddenly lit up, showing a keen interest.
Duan Gujin could tell from the expression on Lie Lei's face that he was really eager to know about the Netherworld Dark Clan, and with a flash in his eyes, he thought of a way that wouldn't make the Green Cloud Sect suspect him.
"It's like someone bringing a pillow when you're dozing off!"
Duan Gujin was overjoyed and quickly produced the Evil Eye from his storage ring.
He placed the Evil Eye in his palm for Lie Lei to observe.
"Sect Master Lie, please look!"
With a thought, Duan Gujin made the Evil Eye rise from his palm.
"What is this?"
Seeing the eye as large as an adult man's fist, Lie Lei's expression changed drastically, his eyes darting around as he considered what exactly the object in Duan Gujin's hand could be.
"This eye in my hand belongs to a member of the Netherworld Dark Clan!"
Duan Gujin stated.
"How big!"
Lie Lei hastily inhaled sharply upon hearing that.
"Yes, why don't you sense this Netherworld Dark Clan's eye and see how many secrets you can uncover from it."
Duan Gujin then handed over the Evil Eye to Lie Lei for observation.
Lie Lei's Divine Sense entered the Evil Eye, and after studying it for a while, he spoke to Duan Gujin, "There's a very strong Dark Attribute Power inside this Evil Eye! This thing is a Demon!"
"Yes!"
Duan Gujin was overjoyed in his heart, knowing that his goal had been achieved.
Initially, he was pondering how to convince the two Green Cloud Sect Elders that he could harness the power of the Demon Path, but now the opportunity had presented itself.
This was an excellent chance sent to his doorstep to prove his innocence! Naturally, Duan Gujin wouldn't let go of such a good opportunity to prove his purity.
"That's right, on other continents, martial artists are encouraged to use some powers of the Demon Path! There is only one purpose for that, to enhance one's Combat Power!"
Duan Gujin spoke indifferently, secretly observing the changes in Lie Lei's facial expressions.
"Oh!"
Lie Lei replied flatly.
With a thought, Duan Gujin made the Evil Eye dance in his hand.
He released his Demonized Martial Soul, and then slowly increased its power bit by bit.
"Do you see now, I'm utilizing the power of this Evil Eye at this very moment!"
Duan Gujin stared intently at Lie Lei, wanting to discern Lie Lei's thoughts from his facial expression.
Lie Lei took a sharp intake of breath, truly feeling the presence emanating from Duan Gujin which was completely different from that of the Heavenly Dragon and Flying Phoenix Martial Souls.
Had it been anyone else releasing such terrifying Demon Path power in front of him, he would definitely suspect the person to be affiliated with the Demon Cultivators.
But he knew that Duan Gujin's Master hailed from another continent, and people of the Qiankun Continent had little understanding of other lands, gleaning only bits and pieces from ancient classics.
Lie Lei thought to himself that since Duan Gujin's Master came from a different continent, practicing different methods, it was understandably different from the Qiankun Continent's way.
"So, people from other continents don't cultivate the Heavenly Dragon Martial Soul or the Flying Phoenix Martial Soul?"
Lie Lei asked curiously.
"They are like us, in need of cultivating either the Heavenly Dragon Martial Soul or the Flying Phoenix Martial Soul, but with abundant resources, they can use a variety of unimaginable materials to enhance their strength! For example, this Evil Eye in my hand! It originated from the eye of a Netherworld Dark Clan member, and as long as I have it under control, I can unleash some of the innate abilities of the Netherworld Dark Clan! The Netherworld Dark Clan has one extremely terrifying innate ability; they can possess somebody else's Body!"
Duan Gujin said half of what he intended and then stopped without continuing.
"What? That's possible?"
Upon hearing Duan Gujin's explanation, Lie Lei immediately asked impulsively.
"Yes, I now have full control over this Evil Eye. From now on, I can use this Evil Eye to take possession of the bodies of my enemies! I can use it to create a large army of zombies under my control!" Duan Gujin said.
Lie Lei thought for a moment, his expression changed dramatically, and he was shocked to realize just how terrifying that Evil Eye was.
"Then, is the Netherworld Dark Clan a friend or foe to humankind?"
Lie Lei hastily inquired.
"Foe!"
Duan Gujin declared.
Upon hearing this, Lie Lei could no longer remain calm. He thought of the Netherworld Sect currently uncovering the Netherworld Dark Clan's relics on the Qiankun Continent, and if the Netherworld Sect found something unexpected at the site, the consequences would be unimaginable.
