Chapter 61 Second Basement& Treasures
Liam didn't think that it was necessary for him to explain what the items he had found were, and he didn't really think of sharing them either. His finds were supposed to belong to him, in the first place.
However, there was an item he didn't really need, so he gave it up.
"Ludwig, take those and throw your glasses away!
[『Aprail Glasses』-Circleless C+ Rank-
Description: Aprail Glasses are highly durable glasses that regulate themselves to fit the wearer's needs. If supplied with Arcane Power, the Aprail Glasses will grant temporarily enhanced eyesight and the ability to determine the power level of the beings in your field of vision!
Remark: If your eyesight is perfect, you will feel a little dizzy!]
If not for the Remark, Liam might have worn the Aprail Glasses himself. It was pretty helpful if he could improve his eyesight even further after triggering his Soultrait.
But he didn't want dizziness to cause problems right in the middle of a fight.
Three of the remaining six 'treasures' were tickets that Liam tore apart without hesitation.
[+100 Arcanium have been rewarded]
[+75 Arcanium have been rewarded]
[+25 Arcanium have been rewarded.]
The tickets had been entirely black without any description. It was not even unlikely that those tickets could have been dangerous. However, the exact opposite was the case. He made quick bucks with the three tickets, which left him with three more treasures that were more or less good.
One was a farming hoe that adjusted its size according to the amount of Arcane Power inserted. It could shrink down to the same size as Liam's other Miniature Tools. That way, he gained a new Miniature Tool in his Keychains of Miniature Tools. The farming hoe was a Circleless B- ranked tool, which meant that it possessed a few more traits than the mere ability to simply transform its size!
However, that was of no importance to Liam because he was pretty sure that he would never start farming in his life. He just secured it safely to make sure that he could sell it for a high price in the future.
The remaining two items were decent but nothing too exciting.
[『King of Stamina』-Circleless B Rank-
Description: The Potion grants the user a sixfold acceleration in the replenishment of Stamina. The effect will last for 180 minutes!
Remark: You will consume more nutrition while the effect is active, and your stamina will be fully depleted once the potion's effect wears off. The exhaustion that follows afterward will last between one to three hours!]
[『Sensus Eara』-Circleless B Rank-
Description: The Sensus Eara earring increases the hearing sense drastically.
You will be able to hear a lot more than ever before!
Remark: Loud noises are even louder!]
The King of Stamina potion was quite useful even if he wouldn't use it immediately. Liam was pretty sure that the potion would find its use in the future.
However, the Sensus Eara earring made him second guess his decision of wanting to use it while fighting the massive horde of monsters upon reading the remark.
He shook his head and looked at the ducklings.
"Who wants the earring?" Liam asked while sharing the information of the Sensus Eara earring with everyone. Felicia and Jennie seemed interested so he let them decide who was going to pick the earring.
He didn't really pay much attention to their decision and approached the staircase that led down to the second basement instead. The staircase was narrow and winded down like a spiral.
'Usually, there would be traps by now,' Liam wondered as he walked down the staircase in a slow and vigilant manner. He was not scared of traps but he was careful since every step could lead to his doom. That was something Liam wanted to avoid if possible.
Unexpectedly enough, Liam found himself evading a bunch of traps in the following ten minutes as he slowly made his way downward. Spikes shot out from the ground, arrows came flying at him out of nowhere and dazzling lights blinded him before more projectiles came flying in his direction. Liam evaded everything and he was still unscathed when he reached the second basement.
However, what he saw in the second basement was enough for him to scowl.
"A maze, seriously, sis?"
It was not difficult to make out the maze since the staircase ended at a slightly elevated position that allowed Liam to imprint the entire maze in his mind.
The maze was in a humongous underground hall that seemed to be as broad and wide as the gymnasium. It was simply gigantic, made out of basalt, and simply too frustrating to look at.
Just looking at the complex network of paths and walls was already annoying, but Liam's eyebrows furrowed when he saw that the walls were constantly shifting and changing. The paths were lined with walls but that was not all as the roars and bellows of ferocious monsters from further down reached Liam's ears not long after.
There were also some statues, fountains, and other unique elements that jutted out of the maze at odd intervals, clearly visible for everyone on the elevated stone platform. Liam felt like snapping his sister's neck but he had felt that every day for a very, very long time.
He sighed deeply as he walked to the edge of the stone platform where another set of staircases led down to the starting point of the maze. His mood had hit rock bottom since he hated puzzles and things like mazes. They were means of confusion and disorientation, and it would be extremely difficult to determine the correct path, or where he was going in the first place. He might actually be taking the right path just for the maze to fool him, shifting around to lead him back to the starting point.
"This fucking bullshit…not with me, bitch!" He cursed once again while taking a deep breath.
The basalt walls of the maze were more than ten meters high and extremely thick. He was giving it a try and climbed up the smooth walls using his claws to find something to hold on to.
However, upon reaching the top of the maze, several projectiles whizzed through the air and would have nearly punctured him from every direction if he wouldn't have jumped down to the ground in time.
'This will definitely not be fun…'
