Chapter 104 War Weapons!
"Let's just say that the Silverheart Dwarves are not the nicest, especially not to humans who are known for being greedy, deceptive and notorious for loving to explore places they were never supposed to step in, in the first place."
Liam generalized humans, right now, but that was perfectly fine. He just wanted to point out that the relationship between Dwarves and humans was the worst between the two races.
Olivia frowned while listening to Liam's explanation but she continued to follow him closely. It looked like Liam was in a good mood because he was willing to continue to reveal more information about the Silverheart Dwarves.
"Let's just add that Dwarves are way too skilled at blacksmithing for their own good as well. Many races attacked them to put them into slavery because every single one is born with the talent to become a Master Blacksmith. Master Blacksmiths are always in high demand as every race needs them. Their forging talent is probably the main reason for their hatred toward all other races, or it played a major role in the whole process.
At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter where their hatred comes from. No race is innocent. I think everyone can agree to that. However, what has to be taken into consideration is that the Silverheart Dwarves of the cavern village are very likely to create weapons with the Arcanium they can easily accumulate by mass producing ordinary weapons, both long-range and weapons for close combat.
Billions of Natives and countless more other individuals of other races need weapons, and the Small Shops can be accessed by everyone! As long as they worked hard enough, they should be able to earn tens of thousands of Arcanium. They should also be able to create large-scale destruction war weapons with that!" He didn't look back as he spoke.
His focus was on the path in front of him. Liam observed the trails which the group of Silverheart Dwarves had left behind and trailed them back to their origin.
"...and I'm not speaking about ordinary catapults."
Despite the danger of the situation he had explained to the girls with quite some details, Liam was not too worried. He might have said that the Silverheart Dwarves earned enough Arcanium to create their own large-scale war weapons, but that was just something he said to emphasize to the rather naive girls that the situation was dire.
To build a village with ten basic smithies, purchasing several shops that had already been expanded, and various other necessities that had to be bought from the Arcane Shop to construct a proper settlement was a daunting task. And, the cavern village was unlikely to have the capabilities to process high-ranked materials for the time being. The Blacksmiths would require one or two Arcane Circles to attain the necessary strength to shape the materials as well.
There were many things to take into consideration. Nonetheless, Liam would rather get rid of the Silverheart Dwarves' settlement as long as he was strong enough to do this by himself. He didn't know when the next batch of those Dwarves would appear in the Jula Valley after all!
After a few minutes of following the trail, Liam lost it. Even with his Soultrait fully activated, he couldn't detect anything. There were only a bunch of collapsed trees and a large amount of mud and gravel that seemed to have slid down from the small mountain of earth to his right.
Without a clear trail to follow, they would have to search blindly for the cavern village. Thus, Liam turned over to Felicia.
"Can you search for their settlement with your Soultrait?" He asked, which caused Felicia to look over to Olivia in uncertainty.
Olivia was still deep in thought. She was trying to digest every single bit of information Liam had shared with them during the last few minutes. It took her a few seconds before she noticed that Felicia, Liam, and Jennie, who was gasping for air, were all looking at her.
Jennie looked like she was dying because she hardly ever ran as much as today. But there was nothing she could do because Liam would never slow down for her.
"What exactly will they create if not catapults?" Olivia asked Liam.
He raised an eyebrow at her question and shrugged.
"Probably a bunch of rocket launchers with missiles that can destroy entire cities. I've faced their power before, and I have to admit, it is quite terrifying. As for other war weapons, they can create basically anything you can imagine, excluding traveling through space, to our fortune. That would be a little bit more horrifying."
Everyone frowned deeply when they heard what Liam said. He was trying to sound nonchalant but he had never been a great actor when it came to feigning emotions.
"So basically they can create Relics multiple times stronger than your Arcane Kunai?" Olivia added another question.
"I wouldn't put it like that…but yeah, probably…" He answered after staring at Olivia for a few seconds.
Liam was not sure why Olivia felt like comparing a Kunai with a rocket launcher, but he chose not to question the mind of a woman too much.
"If you keep the Silverheart Dwarves alive for too long, they're going to destroy everything in their surrounding area until no human or other race is left. That will give them the peace and isolation they want to expand their territory."
Olivia nodded her head slowly. She seemed to understand why Liam wanted to obliterate the Silverheart Dwarves' village in the cavern system as quickly as possible.
Her gaze flicked to Felicia and she gave her a reaffirming nod. A moment or two later, Felicia pointed in a certain direction.
"It's that way. A few kilometers in that direction and we will be in front of the cavern system's entrance…"
Felicia might not feel much when it came to killing others anymore. But it was still a glaring difference to think about killing the Shedim, who were hideous Lesser Demons that only knew how to kill, and killing Dwarves, who she had heard a lot about in fairy tales. The Lesser Demons didn't feel like intelligent beings but ferocious monsters that wanted nothing but blood.
Meanwhile, Dwarves were just …different.
And as if that was not enough, Felicia and Jennie were getting more and more worried about their families.
They didn't want to waste time on the Silverheart Dwarves…they had to reunite with their families before it was too late!
