Reverend Insanity: The Gacha System

Chapter 67: Immortal Graveyard

Heavenly Court, in the Heavenly Overseeing Tower.

Inside the tower stood an old man with long white hair and a matching beard, his sharp black eyes revealing wisdom and weariness. He was tall, his imposing presence diminished only by the strain evident on his face as he sat cross-legged in deep concentration. His expression contorted in visible pain, he was none other than Mung Jun, the Heaven Overseeing Tower Lord.

Beside him hovered a faint but commanding will of a woman, her ethereal presence unmistakable—it was the will of Star Constellation Immortal Venerable.

"Lady Star Constellation," Mung Jun began, his voice tinged with frustration, "we can't break that barrier. All of our Wisdom Path methods have failed, and the Gu Immortals we sent have been slaughtered by his clone."

He hesitated before continuing, his worry apparent. "We need to wake up the Immortals from the Graveyard or move this Heaven Overseeing Tower to the battlefield. With Fate Gu, we could annihilate them."

The will of Star Constellation turned to him, her calm and expressionless face radiating an aura of supreme intelligence. "No," she said firmly. "Do not take the tower there. The moment you do, you will fall into his trap. He knows everything about this world. Never underestimate him."

She paused, her tone unwavering as she gave her command. "Instead, wake up five Gu Immortals from the Graveyard. Equip them with their Immortal Gu and send them to the front. Wait for the moment his clones enter their weakness period. Only then will we strike."

Mung Jun nodded, though a flicker of doubt lingered in his gaze. "Understood, Lady Star Constellation," he said quietly, his resolve hardening.

With the weight of her instructions pressing on him, Mung Jun rose from his seated position and made his way to the Immortal Graveyard. The graveyard was a place of eerie silence and unrelenting stillness.

Rows of ancient stone monoliths stood tall, each marked with the names of the slumbering Gu Immortals. The air carried an aura of solemnity, as if the very ground held the burden of countless histories. (I don't know how the graveyard looks so I used this description and waking up I think is in the original lore but I don't know the process so I made my own.)

Mung Jun stepped to the center of the graveyard, his black eyes scanning the monoliths. Slowly, he began to call their names, his voice echoing like a haunting melody across the misty expanse.

"Xin Yue, the Flame Abyss Guardian," he intoned, his voice steady and resolute. The mist around one of the monoliths swirled violently, and a fiery glow began to emanate from its surface.

"Zhao Han, the Unyielding Boulder," he continued, and another monolith trembled, cracks forming along its surface as earthy energy began to pulse from within.

"Lei Qian, the Thunderfang Tempest," he called, lightning sparking along the edges of a nearby stone, illuminating the mist briefly with harsh brilliance.

"Hua Yin, the Petal Storm Empress," he said, and soft petals of energy began to flutter around another monolith, their delicate beauty hiding a deadly power.

Finally, he stopped before the largest monolith, its carvings ancient and nearly eroded. "Wei Sheng, the Void Reaper," he declared, his voice reverberating through the graveyard. The mist at the base of the stone dissolved completely, revealing a deep, dark vortex that seemed to swallow light itself.

One by one, the slumbering Immortals began to awaken, their forms materializing in the air as they stepped forth, their expressions calm yet brimming with immense power. Mung Jun stood tall, his posture respectful as he bowed slightly and addressed them with reverence. "Welcome back, Seniors."

"Wei Sheng, the Void Reaper, broke the silence first. "Oy, why did you wake us up?" he asked, his hoarse voice carrying a hint of annoyance.

Zhao Han, the Unyielding Boulder, followed, his tone cold and measured. "Yes, what is so important that you would disturb our slumber? I don't think the Heavenly Court requires us right now."

Hua Yin, the Petal Storm Empress, interjected with a soft, calming voice, "Why don't we first listen to what the Tower Lord of this generation has to say before jumping to conclusions?"

Mung Jun stepped forward, his expression somber but resolute. "Honored seniors, there is a demonic cultivator who is using the lives of countless people to create a Rank 9 Gu. Almost all the Gu Immortals we sent to stop him were killed by his clones. He possesses numerous clones, each formidable in their own right, making him a highly elusive and dangerous foe."

He paused, letting the gravity of his words sink in before continuing. "Lady Star Constellation herself has commanded that the greatest figures in Heavenly Court's history be awakened to confront this threat. Your strength and wisdom are our best hope of defeating this enemy."

""We could have just used the Fate Gu on him. It would be over in a few breaths," Lei Qian, the Thundering Tempest, said with a soft voice, laced with frustration.

"Lady Star Constellation said that person is far more dangerous. Even the Fate Gu wouldn't work on him; we would only fall into his trap," Mung Jun replied firmly, his voice calm yet resolute.

"Since it's Lady Star Constellation who made the plan, we can easily win the battle," Xin Yue, the Flame Abyss Guardian, said with a smirk. "Who can outmatch a Wisdom Path Venerable? She is the most intelligent person in the world."

Lei Qian crossed his arms, his tone was soft but pressing. "Yeah, but did you prepare the Gu worms for us?"

"Yes," Mung Jun replied with a slight bow. "Some of your Gu worms are already in the storage, and others need refinement. It will only take an hour to finish."
