"You have found the cursed God Vyaghra

A new subquest has been triggered!!

Subquest:

→ Free Vyaghra from his agony by absorbing the cursed Soulforce

Reward upon completion: New skill: Phantom Arena

Penalty upon failure: None"

"I don't know what this skill is, but the name sure looks dope," I murmured, locking my focus on Vyaghra.

He growled and took slow steps, disappearing into the shadows again.

I unsheathed my sword and grabbed it with both hands, my eyes darting around, trying to sense the upcoming attack.

But again, his strike was undetectable.

Now, he was only aiming for my joints, making only shallow slashes and avoiding any major move.

He was planning to slow down my movement and bleed me to death.

"Aggh, you bastard, this doesn't hurt at all. Just show yourself," I snapped, gripping the sword in frustration.

He responded by striking both my biceps at the same time.

"I only have this one pair of clothes. If you cut it any more, I'll make clothes out of your fucking skin," I growled.

I grabbed the sword, held it horizontally, and pointed it forward. I then raised one leg from the ground and spun intensely on the forefoot of the other.

It struck Vyaghra's face like a slap, and he fell to the ground, becoming visible again.

"Huh! I never thought that this stupid attack would work on him," I exclaimed and jumped at him. "Now take this, bastard."

I swung my sword in a vertical motion, but it only struck the ground as he narrowly dodged it by flipping up directly onto his feet.

I twisted my hand and aimed my blade at his neck with a horizontal slash.

And once more, it only slashed the air as he had already vanished.

Just like that, another barrage of invisible attacks continued.

He had struck every inch of my limbs, turning my jacket sleeveless and my trousers into damaged jeans.

Still, not a single cut was deep.

"Maybe this might work," I muttered, standing motionless, letting him strike however he wanted.

Not that my little struggle had stopped him anyway.

Now, his claws began to slash faster and deeper, splattering blood along with small pieces of meat onto the ground.

After a few seconds of continuous beating, his body began turning partially visible, aiming his claws at my back.

I smirked and immediately swung my sword backward in a diagonal motion.

It slashed through his right shoulder, landing a deep cut from which blood burst out.

I had aimed for his chest, but at the last moment, he moved his body sideways, dodging the critical injury.

He staggered backward, letting out a deafening roar.

"So my assumption was right," I boasted, jerking the blood off my blade.

All three times he emerged from the shadows, there was one thing that remained unchanged: he only remained hidden for about five minutes.

I had a hunch when he got hit by my silly attack, the one where I swung my whole body.

And now I had confirmed it — this overpowered ability had a weakness.

He couldn't remain hidden permanently, and the moment he came out, that was my only chance to strike.

I raised my leg, taking a step toward him, and whispered,

"Blink."

I disappeared from my place, leaving a trail of golden lightning as I appeared before Vyaghra.

I clenched the hilt of Vajra and swung it, aiming for the leech on his head.

The Blink skill had made my movement insanely fast, but the speed at which I swung my sword was still too slow.

Vyaghra bent his back, dodging the attack, and raised his leg, following the motion of the blade, and slammed it to the ground, pinning the sword beneath his foot.

He then clenched his knuckles and launched his fist at my face.

I stopped the attack, gripping his punch with my other hand.

"It was a bad idea to throw a punch at me," I said and then muttered,

"Lightning Bolt."

The point where our hands made contact began to glow with intense lightning, and the attack struck his arm directly, zapping his whole body at zero distance.

Smoke came out of his mouth, his eyes rolling behind the eyelids, yet he clenched his teeth and jolted his arm, throwing me backward.

He held his head tightly, his growl turning into thunderous roars as his body began emitting purple vapors.

Then, like a mindless beast, he bolted, radiating sheer bloodlust, his claws whistling through the air, aimed at me.

I parried the attack, bursting sparks as Vajra clashed with his claws. Before the clang faded, he thrust his injured arm in a stabbing motion, targeting my abdomen, ignoring all the blood that was splattering from his shoulder due to the sudden movement.

I rotated the hilt of Vajra, forcing his hand—whose claws were stuck to the blade—to move downward.

His claws, which were supposed to stab my abdomen, pierced his own hand.

Without wasting a moment, I pushed off the ground, jumped upward, and landed on his shoulder.

I grabbed the leech on his head with my bare hand and shouted,

"Lightning Bolt!"

The sound of thunders echoed through the forest followed by a dull thud of something hitting the ground.

Vyaghra finally fell, laying unconscious on the ground as I sat on his back breathing heavily.

I wiped the blood off Vajra by rubbing it on my jacket and sheathed it behind my back.

"You sure are SHOCKED getting hunted by me," I laughed and then touching the leech on his head, I murmured,

"Vivi, activate the All-Devouring Breathing Technique."
