Chapter 27: A rematch
"You really don't need to come with me," I said, mounting on Ruru.
"It's out of the question. My mind won't relax if I stay here," Nymeria replied as she climbed onto Ruru as well.
"Hehe~! Are you that worried about me?" I chuckled, rubbing my nose with a finger.
"Don't be so delusional. I am only coming to see the outcome of my teachings," she snapped, grabbing the sides of my jacket with her hands.
Sigh "Can't you let a man have some happy dreams?" I muttered as I held Ruru's hair.
"Absolutely not, if they are about me," she replied as Ruru soared into the forest.
I had been very busy since the moment I started training and hadn't gotten any time to look at the goodies I received.
"Vivi open the home screen."
"Initialising Host's request...

"Woah! All of my stats have increased so much. My agility jumped over 100 points, and my defense has increased as well," I murmured, looking at the window.
"Did you say something?" Nymeria asked, sitting behind me.
"Just ignore me," I replied plainly.
"Weirdo," she muttered.
I totally ignored her comment as my focus was on something else.
"Vivi open the description of All-Devouring Breathing Technique"
"Initialising Host's request...
"All-Devouring Breathing Technique (Level 5): A technique from lost records that enables the Host to absorb the Soulforce of cursed beings.
New: During absorption, Host can see the most important memories of the target.
Soulforce absorbed: 20.4k/ 300k"
"That's what I call dope! I can actually peek into the memories of gods. This is awesome. Maybe I will find out why these beasts are cursed, why I got a skill to cure them, and also whom that letter belonged to," I giggled to myself.
"Umm, Raj, if you are nervous, we can come another time. You're seriously scaring me there," Nymeria spoke from behind, her voice carrying concern.
"Don't mind me, pretty lady, I'm just creating some strategies to beat that Jambavan's ass," I replied and grabbed the hilt of my sword as I spoke further in my mind, "Vivi, open the description of Vajra."
"Initialising Host's Request..."

There wasn't a chance in hell that I wouldn't learn it. I moved my finger like a flash and hit the button.
"Initializing Host's request...
Sending all the information about Thunder Slash to Host's mind..."
And there came the electric shock in my brain. I grumbled a little at first, then giggled lightly, and immediately burst into loud laughter.
"Hahahaha, Jambavan, you are fucking dead!" I shouted.
"You bastard! Stop scaring me!" Nymeria snapped, landing a punch on my head.
"Ow! Sorry-sorry," I chuckled, rubbing my head.
"Stay alert. We are getting close," she said, her voice turning serious.
We were nearing the end of the fourth zone, and Ruru began to slow down as well.
"Ruru, you can stop here," I spoke, my voice carrying authority.
She moved a few steps and stopped. We got off her and began moving into the third zone.
As we stepped forward, something grabbed my sleeve from behind.
I turned. It was Ruru. My sleeve was held in her mouth.
"You want me to cure your friend, right?"
I asked, touching her cheek.
She lowered her eyelids slowly and then lifted them again.
"Don't worry. I am absolutely gonna cure him," I said, touching my forehead to hers.
"How do you understand exactly what she wants to say without a word? Does she speak telepathically?" Nymeria asked, curiosity laced in her voice.
"Why does she need to use telepathy? There is no language greater than the language of love and affection," I replied, smiling softly as a sudden breeze lifted my hair backward, exposing my bare face.
"Let's move, we should not waste more time," she said in a rushed tone and began taking fast steps toward the deeper forest.
"Are you nervous? Your face is red," I asked as I followed her.
"Yes-yes, it should be nervousness," she replied, holding her cheeks.
We quickly but cautiously moved for about an hour, scanning our surroundings.
As we moved further, we felt a sudden, ominous pressure slither over our skin from the darkness between the trees ahead.
"He is here. Move to a safe location, fast," I said, drawing my sword.
"Take care," Nymeria spoke in a soft voice before disappearing into a safer place.
The bark on the trees a few feet ahead of me slowly began to corrode, and the ground began vibrating from heavy footsteps.
A figure began to crawl out from the abyss, and the air itself began trembling as it reached closer.
"Oh Lord Shiva," the words left my lips as Jambavan's appearance became clearer under the moonlight.
His jaws dripped with blood, and he held a wolf's head by the hair in his hands. His demeanor had become more monstrous than before. The leech on his chest was vibrating like a heartbeat. Except for his hands and feet, his entire body had turned purple.
His only eye glowed intensely as it stared at me.
"Tchh, how many of the beasts have you killed, you bastard!" I muttered, clenching my teeth.
We both bolted and jumped at each other.
A loud clang echoed through the forest as his claws struck my sword, making the moonlight seem dimmer from the spark of our collision.
