Chapter 163: Art is an explosion
Soul Oath.
I heard this word multiple times from different people, so I finally asked Vivi to tell me more about it.
Basically, it worked like a contract between two people. But unlike a regular contract—where the government steps in only after someone breaks the agreement—a Soul Oath punishes the guilty instantly and directly the moment they violate its rules.
The instant the oath is breached, the offender's cultivation crumbles, forever sealing their realm at its current stage.
---
As my and Vyrion's hands gripped each other's wrists, Vyrion declared, "With heavens as the witness, I take this Soul Oath that I shall not give any information about the person in contact, directly or indirectly, for the next seven days. I shall also share 70% of all that I earn from swindling the people of the army for the same time frame.
If I break this Soul Oath, the heavens shall strike me and seal my cultivation permanently."
Multiple golden threads emerged from my wrist and entered Vyrion's skin as he took the Soul Oath.
After that, the remaining three of the squad followed and took the same oath.
"Here, take it," I said, throwing a space ring toward Vyrion. "It contains the required amount. Move to your work first thing in the morning and make sure not to come anywhere near the front half of the camp."
Vyrion, catching the space ring, asked, "Can you tell us your name?"
I moved closer to him, tapped his shoulder, and replied, "We won't be able to work together if you learn my name. The less you know, the better."
Without giving the squad a chance to interrogate me, I moved to the corner of the tent and vanished using Vyaghra's blessing.
Now that I was done with the unforeseen variable, I waited for a few hours until the darkness of the night reached its zenith and moved on to the original plan for which I had infiltrated the camp.
The first bunch I targeted were the ones sleeping soundly in their camps.
I entered the tent, carefully removed their space rings, put all the Soul Stones into my inventory, and placed the rings back on their fingers.
For the next few hours, I repeated this process, and only stopped once my inventory was completely filled.
Moving toward the location where the patrolling Awakeners were the least, I disabled Vyaghra's blessing.
"Hihihi, I never thought theft would be this much fun," I snickered, my nose elongating with pride.
"Now for the final touch..."
Following the same process I used to create the Lightning Bolt, a faint flame emerged on my palm and soon turned into a fist-sized fireball.
Bending my body sideways to bring the hand carrying the fireball closer to the ground, I hurled it toward the city's barrier and immediately changed my position.
The instant the fireball slammed into the barrier, a double-sized pink sphere shot back with twice the speed and struck a tent, causing a huge explosion in the camps.
"Aghhh, the enemies have launched an attack!" the people caught in the blast shouted.
Within minutes, people gathered and began looking for the cause of the unforeseen blast.
Surprisingly, the three Mid-Tier Awakeners also arrived at the site, where the fire burned intensely.
"Khe-khe-khe, they are quite bold to attack us in the night," the snake-faced man laughed.
"Look for the attacker," the bald head ordered. "They must be nearby."
"I don't think there is any need to do that," Theon spoke up, joining in. "Some idiot must have attacked the barrier. The blast was caused by the counterattack of the array."
Moving toward the Awakeners standing near the blast, Theon demanded, "Who was the moron that attacked the array?"
"Hah! I don't know. I only saw a fireball shooting toward the city and the next moment the camps exploded with a huge boom," one of the Awakeners who'd been awake during the incident replied, picking his nose.
I didn't bother listening to their conversation anymore. Their army was too undisciplined and chaotic to find the culprit.
"Setting the camp outside my city will be the biggest regret of your lives," I giggled with a playful smile before reaching the other end of the army camp with Blink.
Another fireball emerged in my hand, and with the same stance, I launched it at the array again.
As soon as the fireball left my hand, I reached the middle of the first row with lightning speed, throwing another fireball.
Within a couple of seconds, more than fifty fireballs painted the dark sky with burning orange, all fired from fifty different locations of the front half of the camp—the same places from where I had stolen the Soul Stones.
At the very moment the fireballs slammed into the array, a dark energy emerged from my shadow beneath and engulfed me.
Opening my eyes, I found myself lying on top of the city wall, surrounded by Ume, Vyaghra, and Jambavan, their confused faces carrying countless questions.
However, before they could ask even one, I spoke up while rising to my feet, "I will explain, but first let me enjoy the fireworks."
Boom...
Boom...
.
.
.
Boom...
The counterattack from the fireballs hit the camps like missiles, blowing tents apart and hurling debris in every direction.
Along with the blasting sounds, the Awakeners' flustered screams filled the area.
"Who the fuck is attacking the barrier!!???"
Theon's voice, laced with fury, echoed even louder than the explosions.
"Hahahaha!" I laughed, spreading my arms from the edge of the wall. "Art is an explosion."
"This brat is really turning into a sadist," Jambavan sighed, holding his forehead.
"Hmph, now I can't even enjoy the fruit of my labour," I scoffed.
"How many Soul Stones did you manage to rob?" Vyaghra asked, joining in.
I waved my hand, opening the inventory space beside the wall and let all the different grades of Soul Stones I stole fall to the ground inside the walls.
In the blink of an eye, a mountain of Soul Stones as long as the wall piled up, their radiant cores flickering like captive stars.
"Huh! Why aren't these three saying anything?"
I turned toward the group and found them utterly flabbergasted.
"Guys... what happened?"
"WHERE DID YOU LEARN THE DIMENSIONAL MANIPULATION!!!??????"
The three of them demanded, their loud voices almost making my ears bleed.
