Chapter 67: Return of the Last survivor
Merlin got out of his capsule, causing the AI to broadcast this news all over the network.
"General Merlin has awaken!"
At this moment, he heard two loud screams inside his mind.
"MERLIN!!!"
"MASTER!!!"
The next moment, the door was broken through, revealing a rather large blood-red wolf, whose height and length had reached that of a real wolf!
And on the glistening read fur of the wolf, was a matt-black armour, covering the shoulders and front legs of the wolf.
It was Foveros and Mecha!
Mecha separated from the wolf as both were in mid-air. Mecha reached Merlin first and wrapped around him in an instant, forming a thick armour before Foveros could even land.
*Thump*
The sound of flesh meeting metal resounded as A large bump formed on Foveros' head from slamming head first into the now Tier 1 Mecha.
However, that did not stop Foveros as he created spatial tear around Merlin to separate a chink of Mecha away, creating an opening in the nearly indestructible defence.
With teary eyes from the previous collision, Foveros jumped into Merlin's embrace and began greedily soaking up the exuding mana from Merlin.
Currently, Merlin was the only Tier 2 in the base. Foveros had yet to advance, and so did Kyle.
For some unknown reason, as soon as Merlin fainted, his body began exuding a frightening aura that caused all living and non-living being in the vicinity to escape far away. However, Foveros and Mecha worked together to bring back Merlin to the base and sealed him in a capsule meant to preserve one's body, while sealing any mana and energy sources.
However, this did not work too well in the latter aspect since the frightening aura still caused 90% of the Tier 1 zombies to flee. This reduced the progress of Kyle and the others, while Foveros was still at the peak of Tier 1.
Merlin quickly looked at the date to confirm it, only to realise it was the 31 of December, 23:40.
This meant that the mana wave that would increase the Tier of almost all zombies, and many humans was still undergoing! This meant the mana level of Earth was not still fi for Tier 2s. Only at 4 in the morning of the 1st of January would Tier 2s begin to be born, while most of the Tier 0 zombies would evolve to Tier 1s.
But then, how and why was he a Tier 2 already?
Disregarding the battle of cuddliness supremacy between Foveros, and Mecha, Merlin inspected himself, only to find something around his body. Using his mana perception, he could faintly feel an invisible barrier of intensely strong mana around him.
As soon as he inspected it, a notification popped up.
=========
The master has given you freedom to grow…
Title [Limit Breaker] has been gained
Effect: The one with this title is no longer suppressed by the natural order of all worlds, allowing one to freely grow, even in the absence of sufficient quality of mana.
=========
'Huh? Isn't this too much of a cheat? Given that I have the [Multiplier] skill, that has now reached its max level, paired with this title would be too overpowered wouldn't it?'
Just as he was thinking about comically being able to destroy all his enemies with a single punch and then losing his purpose in life, he remembered something.
'Dammit! That sh*tty Overseer is still alive, waiting for the opportunity to come and take over my body, or simply kill me!'
This thought was like a bucket of cold water to all his fantasies, that shattered like a pain of mana infused glass against Foveros' spacial tear.
Soon, more people flooded in to congratulate Merlin. All of them were Tier 1s, since normal Tier 0s would lose control of their mana being in the presence of a newly advanced Tier 2, who has not gotten accustomed to his mana.
"General!"
"Finally! You are back!"
Just as the group was going to pester him about a billion things, Merlin yelled as he recovered the shattered bits of Mecha and infused it to form simple clothing, and picked up Foveros,
"SHUT IT! Where is Sean and Kyle? Bring Max and the others too. Meet me in the meeting room."
Just as he said that, his figure vanished from the room as he appeared in the sky above the Merlin sanctuary.
This place had visibly grown. It was now occupying a size almost triple that of what it was before he fainted. However, the enormous wall that covered the entire Staten Island had not been broken down, but in fact reinforced with stronger materials.
He then floated in the air while madly absorbing all the mana in the air like a black hole. For a brief moment, it was almost as if time itself had frozen.
However, Merlin's Mana quickly skyrocketed and filled up completely. After this brief minute of absorption, he then began to fly back down slowly, while he was practicing the second method of the elemental law set.
With this, he had finally come back from being unconscious for 8 months. It was the return of the last survivor.
