Chapter 24
『‘Lee Suhyuk’ has started streaming.』
This message wasn’t only displayed on Suhyuk’s kit.
All the viewers who had watched his stream the previous day and those who had subscribed after hearing the buzz in the community received the notification simultaneously.
—
– He’s here!
– 11111
– Failed to be first LOLOLOL
– Su-hi! (Short for Suhyuk Hi)
– Su-hi!
– Newbie you don’t start early?
– Seeing the mask, the concept today is the same LOLOLOL
– Concept? This is his actual face.
—
The chat window was lighting up rapidly.
They said the initial moments after starting a stream would be the busiest, and indeed, the chat was moving so fast that reading everything was dizzying.
—
『‘IloveLeeSuhyuk’ has donated 1,000 points.』
『Oppa!!! I’ve been waiting!!! (dangle)』
—
“Thank you, IloveLeeSuhyuk, for the 1,000 points. But what does the ‘dangle’ at the end mean?”
—
– Uh… that’s…
– LOLOLOL LOL No wayLOLOLOL
– You know, it’s… hard to explain in words…
– Hilarious seeing everyone being unable to explainLOLOLOL
– By the username, I thought it was a girl but guess not LOLOLOL LOL
—
Watching the chat scroll down, a question mark popped into Suhyuk’s head.
“How do you know that person is a guy?”
—
– Oh manLOLOLOL LOL
– He’s so cuteLOLOLOL
– Is this really the same guy that was cutting down giants yesterday? LOLOLOL LOL
—
『‘Dangly’ has donated 50 points.』
『It’s okay not to know, why tease so much;;』
—
– Look at that nickname omg LOLOLOL LOL
– Fact: Even the donor didn’t explain it
– You’re worseLOLOLOL LOL
– You just wanted to donate and tease moreLOLOLOL LOL
—
The atmosphere was cheerful.
‘Not bad.’
Having viewers interact playfully in the chat like this wasn’t a bad thing. Especially before the main event of the stream started.
If viewers created such a lighthearted atmosphere on their own, it was actually welcomed.
‘Viewers…’
Three minutes into the stream, this was the point where looking at the increasing number of viewers could give him an idea of the stream’s trajectory.
『Viewers: 628』
Over 600 viewers.
And that was just within the first three minutes of starting the stream.
‘They said the maximum is usually about three times this number…’
Suhyuk’s eyes widened behind his mask.
‘1800 people?’
That was far more than he had anticipated. Especially considering that this was only his second day streaming.
Of course, it was an estimated number that he had not yet reached.
—
『‘MissionVillain’ has donated 100 points.』
『What’s today’s trial? I need to place a mission.』
—
A viewer who enjoyed setting missions, asking about the upcoming trial. With the increase in viewers, the donations were also becoming more frequent and substantial.
“I don’t know what the trial is yet. We’ll have to start to find out.”
—
– Go go go go go!
– Giant Slayer, let’s goooo!
– But what happens if you die? Does Lightning reset?
– Yeah, if you die, acquired skills disappear.
– If he dies, it’s a total disasterLOLOLOL
– But he’d likely get it back by following the same route.
– So what’s next though ㅡㅡ
—
The viewers were getting impatient.
Most of the viewers tuning in were eager to see the new trial routes, and it was natural for them to be anxious.
Suhyuk also shared their eagerness.
“Understood.”
—
『Starting the 2nd floor trial.』
—
The surrounding scenery shifted. As his expression hardened beneath the mask, Suhyuk’s previously gentle tone became sharp.
“Let’s begin.”
—
『Stage 6 – ‘Legend’ is starting.』
—
*
Ferius, Palkon, and other knights gathered in one place.
A total of ten knights.
All the forces in the nearby village had assembled after hearing the news that the Giant tribe leader had been captured.
“Is the benefactor still unconscious?”
According to the trial setting, Suhyuk was still unconscious. As Ferius, who was waiting for Suhyuk to wake up, urged for updates, Palkon shook his head.
“It’s taking a long time. His wounds must be severe…”
Ferius sighed. It troubled him that they had to rely on an outsider for assistance once again, but for now, there was no alternative.
Of course, not all the knights shared Ferius’s sentiment.
“I have doubts. Is it really true that the outsider did this?”
“Exactly. Wasn’t he said to not be a knight?”
“It’s hard to believe. A stranger suddenly appears and captures the Giant tribe leader alone.”
Among the knights, many doubted Suhyuk’s deeds. In fact, out of the ten knights, only Ferius and Palkon believed in Suhyuk.
They were knights.
They had spent their entire lives wielding swords and earning their titles through recognized skill. Most knights tended to look down on swordsmen without titles.
“Ferius, you might have been deceived.”
“Are you sure it was the Giant tribe leader? Couldn’t it have been just an ordinary giant?”
The questions continued. With a troubled expression, Ferius answered their questions one by one. But even he knew. The majority of the knights didn’t trust the outsider.
Knights were notoriously stubborn and proud. Even among the relatively younger knights, Ferius was no exception in sharing that sentiment.
‘They won’t believe it unless they see it themselves.’
Questions with predetermined answers aren’t questions at all. Thus, Ferius chose to wait rather than try to persuade them with words.
Waiting for Suhyuk, the benefactor who saved their village, to awaken.
“Sir Ferius!”
And then, at last, the awaited news arrived.
“The benefactor has awakened!”
—
“The benefactor has awakened!”
The soldier’s voice reached Suhyuk’s ears. Or rather, it was heard by everyone watching the stream through Suhyuk’s microphone.
“To be precise, I haven’t awakened yet; the next stage has just begun.”
—
-LOLOLOL
-Why nitpick though?
-But he’s right
-So waking up starts the next stage, huh?
—
Suhyuk’s words didn’t reach the soldier’s ears. This was another tip Un Hyang had given him.
—
“You can adjust the microphone channel to perform stored actions. This way, only the viewers can hear.”
—
This allowed him to communicate with viewers even during the trials. While it wouldn’t be feasible during intense moments, it was quite handy during quieter times like now.
“Please come in.”
Suhyuk followed the soldier’s lead and entered the command tent. Inside the tent, which was large enough to accommodate dozens, about ten knights were gathered for a meeting.
From familiar faces like Palkon and Ferius to unfamiliar ones. Reading the overall atmosphere, Suhyuk spoke into the stream channel.
“Looks like Palkon and Ferius don’t have much clout. They’re positioned at the very end.”
Surveying the scene, Suhyuk murmured, “Turns out they’re just small fries.”
—
-LOLOLOL LOL Small fries
-There’s a ton of knights
-Where did they all come from?
-So did Small fries lose his house?
-Everyone calling him Small fries nowLOLOLOL
—
The hierarchy among the knights was clear. Starting from the elderly knight who subtly took the lead and situated himself in the middle, to Ferius and Palkon, who stood closest to the tent’s entrance.
Their positions made the hierarchy immediately apparent.
“Is it truly him? The hero who captured the Giant tribe leader.”
“He doesn’t look that strong…”
“He doesn’t seem particularly giant. Did someone make a mistake?”
“The mask on his face seems suspicious as well.”
Even if they whispered among themselves, the tent was closed off. Though their talk wasn’t pleasant to hear, it was impossible to ignore.
“They seem to doubt it was me who captured the Giant tribe leader. Or maybe, they just don’t want to believe it?”
Suhyuk shared his thoughts with the viewers through his microphone channel.
“Aren’t they arrogant?”
—
-LOLOLOL LOLOLOL
-So arrogant!
-Did I see him laugh just now?
-Look at that confidence LOLOLOL
—
Suhyuk’s eyes, visible through the mask, met the knights’ gazes. With a hint of a smile in his eyes, he spoke.
“Why have you summoned me?”
The sixth stage of this trial started inside this command tent. There was no need for lengthy conversations. Their suspicions didn’t negate the fact he had accomplished what he did.
If he were seeking a title or trying to make a name in their territory, it might be different, but he wasn’t interested in that.
To Suhyuk, the knights’ murmuring and mistrustful gazes seemed like something else entirely.
‘Is changing their perception part of the trial’s objectives?’
The entire setting of the trial could offer hints for the strategy. As Suhyuk pondered this, a response came.
“Hmm hmm. First, we should start with a word of thanks. My name is Dale.”
The voice belonged to an old knight with white hair who was seated in the center.
“On behalf of everyone in the city, I offer our deepest gratitude…”
“Aren’t you all gathered here from different towns? What about those areas?”
Dale’s face twisted as Suhyuk interrupted him. Regardless of the reaction, Suhyuk continued to express his dissatisfaction to the viewers.
“He’s talking too much. What a waste of time.”
—
-LOLOLOL LOL
-Yeah, can we hurry it up LOLOLOL
-High-speed mode on
-On! LOLOLOL LOLOLOL
—
Perhaps the viewers’ desire for faster progress resonated. Dale adjusted his expression and spoke again.
“…Our side was completely overrun.”
“Overrun?”
“Yes. By ‘that one’.”
—
-There it is.
– ‘That’ one.
-But who is it?
-I don’t know either
-What? You acted like you knew
-Whenever ‘that’ is used, it’s always something big. Normie rule for sure.
—
Dale continued his explanation.
“After you defeated the Giant tribe leader, ‘that one’ appeared. It’s hard to fathom where such a being came from.”
“Is it more dangerous than the Giant tribe leader?”
“You should know. The ones we call giants are merely remnants of the ancient giant tribes.”
Suhyuk had some basic understanding of the giants. Thus, dale’s next words surprised him.
“But this one is different. It’s much closer to the true giants. To think some of them still exist…”
Dale bowed his head, recalling the devastated town.
—
-???
-True giant???
-Why would that appear here?
-Feels like an exaggeration
-If that’s legit, how are we supposed to defeat it?
—
The difficulty level had spiked dramatically.
Whether it was truly a giant or not could only be confirmed by seeing it firsthand, but it seemed to be on a different level than the Giant tribe leader he had previously defeated.
‘Is this even meant to be beaten?’
He knew the route had changed when he defeated the Giant tribe leader. Yet, this wasn’t a difficulty level meant to be cleared on the 2nd floor.
“So, you want me to defeat it?”
“What?”
Dale chuckled at Suhyuk’s question. Not just Dale, but the other knights around him as well.
“You’re quite confident.”
“We might be asking for help, but this is a bit…”
“He’s speaking without knowing the full extent of the matter. Let’s be understanding.”
Hearing the displeasing remarks from all around, Suhyuk tuned them out, but then, Ferius, who had been quietly observing, spoke up.
“There’s a legend that has been passed down in this country for a long time.”
A legend.
The name of this stage.
“Somewhere at the summit of Millennium Mountain…”
Swish—
Ferius, recalling Suhyuk breaking through the giants, continued,
“…is said to be a shard of lightning hidden.”
The mention of lightning caught the attention of everyone, both in the tent and the viewers.
—
– Another piece of lightning?
– So it’s another powerful skill?
– This is getting interesting.
– Maybe it’s stronger than the previous skill?
—
Suhyuk’s heart pounded harder at the prospect of acquiring another powerful skill.
“Then I guess our next destination is clear.”
Ferius nodded, adding, “If you could retrieve that shard, it would be an immense help in defending against ‘that one’.”
Suhyuk turned to the viewers and confidently declared,
“Let’s go get that lightning shard.”
