Chapter 168: Rolph
The Thunder Strike was originally intended to create a golden opportunity for him to efficiently kill one of the NPC, but he severely underestimated their strength.
They were not some ordinary mobs that would just allow him to butcher as he pleased.
Not to mention, the difference between their attributes was high, so to even think one Thunder Strike was enough to take one of them down was the most retarded thinking he had in mind.
What made it worse now was that the enemy NPCs realized he had a Rare sword in hand, which they called a Magic Weapon.
'Great, they're all alerted and even more coordinated than ever. I'm not some swordsman god that can solo everything.' OneManMedia cried inwardly, feeling the intense pressure in his current predicament.
How was he supposed to turn the table around when his trump card was as effective as an egg being thrown at a rock?
As OneManMedia was once again surrounded on all sides, he wondered if this was the end of him.
His right hand was still numb from the sensation earlier when one of them blocked his strike.
"Attack the intruder from long-range. He's a swordsman with a magic weapon, so don't let him have an advantage in melee range." One of the NPC with the red name was highlighted as Rolph instructed.
'Fuck you, Rolph. May your entire generation rot in hell!' OneManMedia cursed Rolph repeatedly in his mind. The situation was grim already for him, but Rolph just had to increase the difficulty even further.
Originally, these brash NPCs were still attacking him in melee range, but thanks to Rolph, they all kept a certain distance. From afar, he even noticed their Gunners were taking their stance, ready to fire at him.
"Wait, I'm not an intruder." OneManMedia suddenly thought of a tactic and raised his hands up. "I don't even know who you people are nor the so-called Town Mayors' Dog you said earlier."
Going by the norm, they should soon lower their guard slightly and ask for his identity.
And at that moment, he will seize the chance to break through and escape from the scene.
Just when he saw Rolph opening his mouth, OneManMedia was also getting ready to flee.
However, the words that came out of his mouth caused OneManMedia's face to turn so pale that he looked no different than a ghost.
"Screw this bastard's words! Intruder or not, he deserved to die for being at the wrong location at the wrong time. Gunners, shower him with bullets." Rolph shouted loudly.
'I fucking fuck you and your mother, Rolph!!!' OneManMedia screamed internally, swiftly activating his movement skill, Shadowstep.
Shortly after, he blended into the darkness, narrowly avoiding the bullets and the Gunners' field of vision.
It was just a pity that he was doomed to eternity when an Arcane Mage NPC cast a detection skill, revealing his position. The Gunners might not be able to physically see him, but with the detection skill highlighting him as some red dot, the Gunners now had a target.
"Let's see if this bastard wants to continue hiding." Rolph laughed menacingly.
'Hide? Can I even hide when you're using detection skills? Goddamn cheaters!' OneManMedia felt humiliated time and time again.
Too bad, his agony was met with a rain of bullets, penetrating his skin and receiving a ton of damage. The pain tolerance could only resist so much before OneManMedia truly felt like he had been riddled with bullets.
Injured, OneManMedia's Shadowstep was also deactivated, revealing his pitiful state.
As the Gunners prepared to shoot their final round to end his misery, Rolph suddenly raised his hands up, signaling them to hold their fire.
However, he wasn't going to speak some cringe line right afterward to let their enemy get some opportunity to escape.
Instead, he glanced at the Arcane Mage class NPC, who subsequently detained OneManMedia, restricting his movement completely.
"Ugh," OneManMedia shrieked in pain, and the grip on his sword loosened as it plopped to the ground. Now the threat for them could have been considered neutralized.
'What's Lin Feng doing? Is he literally dumping me here? I'm about to get screwed here.' OneManMedia cursed inwardly, wondering where the hell did Xu Feng go.
As the footsteps crept closer, OneManMedia grew more anxious. He closed his eyes, accepting his fate on what lies ahead. At the same time, he decided that this incident would be considered 2 times in repaying his debt.
"A mere swordsman dared to intrude on our hideout. I don't know if I should call you courageous or just a rich fool." Rolph smirked, his eyes gazing at the Stormfang Blade.
The only reason why he didn't outright kill OneManMedia was because the Stormfang Blade caught his eye.
If possible, he wanted to extract even more information from OneManMedia, hoping to upgrade his men's weaponry with magic weapons.
As long as his men had a magic weapon in hand, their success in overthrowing the town mayors would increase tremendously.
Just thinking about being able to sit in the office at the Town Hall and become the new town's ruler, filled Rolph's expression with intoxicated happiness.
"It's fine if you don't talk now, but I'm positive you will soon," Rolph grinned widely, leaning down to pick up the Stormfang Blade. His fingers brushed against the hilt, feeling the cold metal pulse with latent power.
At that moment, a loud explosion erupted from behind, the shockwave knocking Rolph to the side. He hit the ground hard, his vision blurring as the world tilted around him. Debris rained down, and a cloud of dust enveloped the area, making it difficult to see.
Struggling to his feet, Rolph's ears rang with the aftershock. He scanned the surroundings, his heart pounding heavily, unsure of the situation. "What's going on?"
Amidst his confusion, a figure appeared from the smoke, his demeanor calm and collected.
"What's going on is that you shouldn't touch something that doesn't belong to you. Didn't your mama ever teach you that?" Xu Feng chuckled, grabbing the Stormfang Blade that was dropped on the ground.
