Chapter 154: NEXT PHASE BEGINS I
"Do you know what's so fun of being an immortal? You don't have do dodge and attack for fear of death," King explained, his severed head regenerating at an instant, flesh knitting back together seamlessly in a matter of seconds.
"Only stupid like you will give that up," King smiled, regaining control and manipulating his chains once more with a flick of his will.
The chains attacked from all angles, a barrage of strikes that put Jay firmly on the defensive, forcing him to block and evade King's resilient and unyielding assault, struggling hard to stay alive amid the persistent attacks that showed no sign of letting up.
Jay gave up on attacking entirely, realizing that with King unable to die, it was futile; instead, he resorted to only defending, placing a minuscule hope that his daughter might somehow come to his rescue in this dire moment.
"Tsk. It's no fun seeing you like this," King muttered, dissatisfaction creeping into his voice as he increased the speed of his chains four times their previous pace, the sudden acceleration catching Jay completely off guard.
Jay tried to dodge the sped-up attack, but his reflexes couldn't keep up with the blinding velocity, both blades boring through him cleanly in quick succession. One of the blades tore through his abdomen with a ripping sound, while the other pierced straight through his chest, ending his life in an instant as blood welled up and his body went limp.
King stood still amidst the corpses, surveying the scene like an executioner who had just finished his assigned tasks, the air heavy with the silence of the dead.

After warping from the place, Aaron appeared within his castle, the familiar walls materializing around him as he settled back onto his throne. With a simple thought, space warped once more, twisting and bending to bring two beings into existence before him—Lyrith and Dream, their forms solidifying in the dim light of the chamber.
"I believe our meeting has been long overdue," Aaron voiced out, his tone even as he stared at the two, assessing their expressions.
"Aaron Highborn," Dream said slowly, her voice cautious, acknowledging his presence.
"Dream. And Lyrith. How have you been enjoying your stay within the sanctuary? Seeing as you both chose the blue ribbon, I wish to believe you do enjoy my rule," Aaron said calmly, his words a test of their loyalty.
"Only a stupid person will pick a fight with someone in his own house. I'm at least smart enough to avoid dying pointlessly the second time," Lyrith replied, folding her hands across her chest in a defensive posture, her attitude defiant yet pragmatic.
"Let's not waste any much of our time here. How well can you introduce me to Asmodeus? I believe we both have the same end goal," Aaron asked Lyrith directly, cutting to the chase.
"What? Why will you want to meet him? I know you are strong. But trust me. You are not strong enough to face Asmodeus. He is dangerous. He's league above you," Lyrith tried to dissuade Aaron from what she felt was an absurd and suicidal idea, her concern genuine.
Like the others, she knew of her Immortality and wasn't so sure how it worked exactly. She didn't know what would happen if Aaron was to die, and to be honest, she didn't want to find out by dying herself. Not so soon after her previous brush with death.
"League above me? Just how much do you know about me?" Aaron asked, a small smile playing on his face, intrigued by her assessment.
"Is he league above Thor? Or Ignis? Or Rhaigon? Or perhaps Loki?" Aaron asked, tapping his fingers on the throne rhythmically, the sound echoing softly in the room.
"How? How did you know them?" Lyrith asked in surprise, her eyes widening as she took in the names.
"Cause we crossed path. And they weren't league above me. So just how strong is Asmodeus?" Aaron asked, his confidence evident.
"You are a monster," Lyrith muttered under her breath, taking a few steps backward instinctively, her fear palpable.
"Prepare to contact them. Cook up some story and link me up with Asmodeus. The second task for you is to secretly spy on the actions of Baal and his forces. Fill me in on every information needed about them. It won't be far in the distance when I will have to clash with them," Aaron instructed, his orders clear and detailed.
"Can I not go?" Lyrith asked, her voice reluctant, as she had been enjoying the few days of lazing around within the sanctuary, free from immediate dangers.
"That's out of the question. Fulfill the task I'm handing to you and don't disappoint me Lyrith," Aaron said firmly.
"Tsk," Lyrith clicked her tongue in annoyance, resigning herself to her fate with a sigh.
"You have a week to be on your way," Aaron finalized, then sending Lyrith away with a wave of his hand, the space warping to remove her from the chamber.
"Now back to you," Aaron stared at Dream, shifting his focus.
"You are no longer tied to any oath. So now pick a side. Will you serve under me or not?" Aaron asked. She might have chosen the blue ribbon, but Aaron wanted to be sure of her standing totally, leaving no doubts.
"Yes," Dream nodded her head, her mind made up after careful consideration.
"Very well. You have a lot to prove to me. Especially after abandoning me and my sister left under your care by my parent. Get ready, I will make sure to utilize your strength greatly. Hope you haven't grown rusty," Aaron said, his expectations high.
With his meeting with Lyrith and Dream done, Aaron met with Rain and Cain, the last of the Bluestar powerhouses he hadn't had some time with and an effective conversation with yet, rounding out his assessments.
With the rebels out of the equation, Aaron called for a meeting with every noble once more, as well as the powerhouses within his sanctuary, his parents included in the gathering. He avoided conversation with Alice in the meantime concerning her father, beginning the second phase of his plan to grow stronger paramount to everything else.

"I have put an end to the internal conflict within our empire. Now, we can finally continue the initial goal of our empire. Conquest. It is time to conquer everything in our path."
