Reincarnated: The Immortal Scholar

Chapter 9: The Hidden Truth

The entire Royal family alongside Asher were present and seated in the Royal study.

"The Jardel family has existed from time immemorial. Our ancestor Darius Jardel as the legends say was a proud man." King Aaron began. Everyone listened attentively, even the sound of a pin dropping would be heard as the silence and tension within the room was almost palpable.

"As the legends say, he was blessed by the gods with magic such as this." King Aaron concentrated his mana towards his palm and the same dimension which he created before was seen.

"This is 'World Creation Magic' this is just one of the many types of magical abilities the gods have blessed us with." King Aaron continued.

"You've told us all that father but what does that have to do with those beasts that came from the sky?" Prince Arin asked his calm demeanor replaced by a look of impatience.

"They are not just any beasts son. They are demons." King Aaron corrected.

"What are they?" Princess Aethera chipped in.

"According to what our ancestors say, they are beings that existed before our world." King Aaron replied.

"Are you sure about that father? They seemed pretty weak." Arin said.

"It would seem those were the weaker ones, the ancient books say that there is a hierarchy amongst the demons and the ones we faced are the fledglings." King Aaron explained.

"Then what about the others?" Asher finally spoke up, he looked in the direction of Queen Aurora and saw that she was calmly listening to every word her husband had to say.

"There are other demons amongst them, the Grand Marshall, the three advisers and then their king. He's the only one who's name our ancestors were able to record. Xoraxys." King Aaron continued calmly.

"So why did he choose to attack you now? I don't see any reason why he would do that?" Asher asked, he knew the reason but nevertheless pretended not to.

"It might have something to do with you child." Queen Aurora finally spoke up, her tone and demeanor were calm as she stared at Asher.

"M-Me?! What business do you suppose they have with me?"

"You know as much as I do. You saw the demon that remained in the void and you sent him back to the demon world with a message." Queen Aurora retorted.

"I assure you that I don't remember doing any of that."

"Tell us the truth child, my wife can read the mind of a designated person, it doesn't matter how strong your mental defences are, she'll be able to penetrate your mind." King Aaron said calmly.

"They said they wanted me." Asher began.

"And why would they want you? After the battle between Darius and Xoraxys, the demons swore never to interfere with the human world." King Aaron explained.

"Fought?!" Asher replied, the shock clearly evident on not just his but on everyone's faces.

"Yes, they fought once before and since Darius was able to fight on par with the demon king, the gods gave humans limited life spans and other vulnerabilities and as such, even if a strong human appeared he or she would be eliminated by one thing or the other." King Aaron further explained.

"Then I know why they came for me." Asher said.

"Yes you guessed right. You were as strong as Darius Jardel was back then, if not stronger." King Aaron replied.

"And how were you able to decipher that?" Asher asked.

"You were able to destroy my dimension. Although not as complex as the ones I use when I'm really serious, I made this one as big as an entire world with stars, solar systems and galaxies scattered within it." King Aaron explained.

"That's a bit much don't you think?" Asher asked.

"No it wasn't and seeing as you were able to destroy it so easily then that means you're stronger than you seem." Arin chipped in, his voice now more eager to join in.

"Now… what did they say to you?" Aethera asked, her voice calm and the usual smile she had on her face had disappeared.

"They said their king requested my presence." Asher replied.

"And what did you say to them?" Queen Aurora chipped in with curiosity.

"I told them I wouldn't come for whatever reason they had and then I pushed the escort back through the void and closed it." Asher continued.

"You were able to close it?" Arin asked surprised.

"It's common spatial magic, most mages should be able to do it." Asher replied.

"I know that, but the mana I sensed from that void was foreign and not one that could be manipulated normally." Arin added.

The room was filled with an eerie silence, everyone pondered in what to do next. The big question being should Asher be taken to the demons or should they fight to defend one of their own?

"I've come to a decision." King Aaron spoke up, breaking the silence.

Everyone else's eyes turned to him as well as their full attention.

"We shall fight to protect you, Asher. We shall protect you and our world as well." King Aaron declared.

"Really father?!" Princess Aethera asked with tears flowing from her eyes.

"There is no way we would abandon one of our own my dear." Queen Aurora replied in the king's stead.

"This meeting is dismissed for now. All of you should be on guard, we do not know when they will attack but from the response Asher gave them, I'm sure Xoraxys would send even stronger demons." King Aaron said to them all.

The meeting ended as the king had ordered and all of them went back to their rooms as it was the dead of the night. Asher was about to lay down when he heard a knock on his door.

"Come in." Princess Aethera walked in, further stunning Asher who was wondering who came to him at this time.

"I hope I'm not intruding?" Princess Aethera asked politely.

"No you're not. Besides you've given me great hospitality so you can come whenever you want." Asher replied.

"I have something I want to tell you." Aethera continued.

"Okay, go on."

"I know my father, he'll say that he wants to protect I and my mother and so he'll keep us locked in the palace with capable mages to guard us."

"I agree with him. Although the mana I sense from you is potent, it hasn't been trained properly."

"I knew you'd say that." She smiled.

"Well, I have to care about my friends now don't I?" Asher laughed.

"Yeah and I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing? You've done nothing wrong."

"No, I'm sorry about this." She leaned forward and pressed a kiss on his lips stunning him entirely.

H

is face turned beet red after she disengaged from him, she turned around and left his room without any words.
