Volume 3 Chapter 5
“No, Sigurdella, one night is not enough to go from End to Lunyuan.”
I grabbed Sigurdella’s wrist, her nails leaving crescent marks on her pale skin. However, it seemed as if she just realized this. Being naturally beautiful, elves take extra care of their bodies.
“Hmph… how shameful of me. I swore to protect Anna, and now I can only watch as that detestable man takes her away…”
Sigurdella laughed self-deprecatingly. It wasn’t anyone’s fault; none of us could change the situation.
“I should have gone to Lunyuan earlier. If I had, maybe I would have already killed Duke Borgia, and Anna wouldn’t have to…”
“Sigurdella is worried about me.”
“Of course I am! How could I not be worried about that man!”
“I will protect myself, Sigurdella. Remember what I told you? I want to find a master whom I truly wish to serve.”
I used a minor healing spell to heal the marks on Sigurdella’s arm.
“If Lord Enrique is not the master I desire, I won’t stay with him. Besides, we still don’t know what he will ask for.”
“That man is not worthy to be Anna’s master… even if it means returning the unicorn horn, I’ll accept it…”
Sigurdella clenched her fist again. If we were to use a favorability scale, her favorability towards Enrique was probably minus one hundred.
To think Sigurdella would be willing to return the unicorn horn for my sake… my heart warmed slightly.
“If Lord Enrique truly demands me, I might have to leave Lily’s side for a while. Sigurdella, could I ask you… to take care of Lily?”
Leaving Obi would mean no towns, and Caro Cat, being an adventurer, couldn’t stay in Limoria all day. The same was true for Anna’s support team. If Christiana decides to steal the bride, Sigurdella is the only one I can ask.
“Anna, you again…”
Sigurdella’s shoulders slumped in resignation.
“Anna, care about yourself a bit more, won’t you?”
“Uh… do I seem very uncaring…?”
“Of course.” Sigurdella appeared quite dissatisfied. “Even though you are about to be taken away by an evil adventurer, you don’t seem to care at all.”
Because worrying about it won’t change anything. My habit is to maintain an optimistic mindset. No one likes a servant with a sour face.
Not caring about myself… hm, it feels like Sigurdella is criticizing me. Maybe she doesn’t want to see me willingly accept Enrique’s conditions.
Although I don’t dislike Enrique as much as Sigurdella does, he is not the master I yearn for. I can see that clearly.
“Don’t worry, Sigurdella, I have my limits. I won’t just unconditionally surrender everything.”
“No… Anna looks like the type who’s easy to bully! In my head, it’s all scenes of that man and Anna blurred out, how can I be at ease!”
How did you imagine several GB of content in such a short time?!
“I can even imagine, with that man’s vile character, he might capture me and then, in front of me, use the unicorn horn to take away Anna’s purity, ‘A unicorn close to a virgin takes away Anna’s first time! Moon Elf, how do you feel now?’… Despicable Enrique!”
I even feel like Enrique is being unjustly slandered.
Despite being a wholesome game, I don’t think such a ghastly plot will unfold.
As if to vent all her frustrations, Sigurdella spent a good ten minutes badmouthing Enrique, but fortunately, she seemed to have given up on her rash plan to assassinate Duke Borgia in Lunyuan Castle.
“Tomorrow, I will not appear in front of him. I’m afraid I won’t be able to control myself.”
The more Sigurdella thought about it, the angrier she got. If she saw Enrique tomorrow, she’d probably really swing a sword at him. After all, adventurers can revive, so there’s no psychological burden in attacking.
“Tomorrow, I will hide among the crowd and reduce my presence. I don’t want that man to notice me… Hm…”
Sigurdella, lost in thought, suddenly stopped talking.
“Anna, if that man really asks you to be his servant, does that mean you become his follower?”
“No, I can only become a follower of an adventurer with a maxed-out favorability rating. Without meeting this condition, I can’t even serve.”
“So it’s just a verbal agreement?”
“I think we might sign a contract.”
“A contract?”
That’s more common in the world of human kingdoms, perhaps less used among elves.
“Do you know about the Assassins?”
“The assassination organization, yes.”
“Yes. When nobles hire assassins for certain jobs, they usually sign
a contract that stipulates the assassin must not disclose any information and the penalties for doing so. That’s what a contract is. It can stipulate conditions with binding effects, but it must be shown when used.”
The game’s setting for contracts must be based on mutual consent and cannot involve any human rights violations. The so-called binding effects are mostly used for self-protection or to force the assassin to fulfill the agreement in case of betrayal or being lured by a better offer from the other party.
“I see… By the way, I feel like I won’t be able to sleep tonight.”
“The topic changed so quickly…”
“Anna, do you have any good methods for sleeping? Like the one you used on me?”
“Do you mean, [Cardiac Arrest]? But that’s not a skill for sleeping…”
“Don’t mind the details. I like the feeling of being shocked. Teach me, teach me.”
That’s a strange request.
