Volume 1 Chapter 39
Perhaps it was because she had rested all afternoon yesterday, Lily woke up early when it was still barely dawn.
“Anna, Lily can get out of bed and walk now!”
“Your leg injuries haven’t fully healed yet. Don’t do strenuous activities. If you need anything, just tell me, and I’ll bring it to you. Also…”
I’m really not the type to nag this much.
I follow behind Lily, feeling like a mom watching her baby take her first steps.
Both of Lily’s legs are injured, making it difficult for her to move around. I carried her to the bathroom yesterday. In just two short days, Lily has miraculously recovered from being shot in the knee and suffering multiple fractures to the point where she can barely get out of bed and walk. The recovery rate is almost miraculous compared to reality.
In the world of Limoria, the speed of healing injuries and recovering from illnesses is much faster than in the real world. If players were to lie in bed for ten days to half a month every time they get injured or sick, who would want to keep playing? Therefore, the recovery rate of all characters is magically fast, and this also applies to NPCs. It seems to be balanced this way to avoid players repeatedly using “bone-crushing” skills.
That being said, my healing skills and magic have sped up Lily’s recovery quite a bit. If this continues, Lily should be completely rejuvenated within a week.
“Lily, many adventurers will be visiting today. You can’t be like this.”
Although Lily’s petite body is wrapped in many bandages, those can’t be considered clothes. Dressed only in underwear with a bear pattern, she’s just too… ahem, too dangerous. If this were a comic, Lily’s outfit would be testing the boundaries of censorship.
“So, how about putting on some new clothes?”
I pull out a little dress that I’ve designed for Lily and modified several times.
Although I don’t like wearing cute dresses myself, I do enjoy sewing them for delicate little girls like Lily. This can’t be criticized as ‘doing unto others what you wouldn’t want done unto you,’ just as teenage boys might like beautiful girls but wouldn’t want to become one themselves.
Lily obediently nods her head.
I have plenty of experience helping my master dress, but this is my first time helping a little girl.
Lily is not very good at wearing fancy clothes; even the bear-patterned underwear surprised her for quite a while. She had never worn underwear before and was always commando. At first, Lily found it uncomfortable, but she quickly got used to the soft cotton fabric.
“Okay… done. Come~”
I bring out a mirror and place it in front of Lily, reflecting her graceful figure.
The outfit I designed for Lily is a typical Lolita-style dress. It’s mainly in soft, pastel colors, with a lace bow at the collar and puff sleeves on both sides. The hem of the dress and skirt are adorned with lace trims. If she were to attend a noble’s ball, Lily would undoubtedly become the center of attention, looking like a tiny, delicate fairy in her elegant, fluttering dress.
If her leg injuries were fully healed, adding white knee-high stockings would complete the look. If I wanted to add more points, I could also carefully style Lily’s hair.
Lily touches her pretty face; the fairy princess in the mirror does the same.
She reaches out with her young palm, but all Lily touches is the cold mirror surface.
“Anna… this…”
“This is the true Lily.”
Lily still seems unable to believe it; she’s never worn such luxurious clothes before.
If there’s a minor flaw… it’s probably that her skirt-lifting motion is quite clumsy.
I’ll have to teach Lily some ladylike manners when I get the chance.
This thought naturally comes to mind, but something about it feels off.
…Why would a man teach ladylike manners?!
It takes me more than ten seconds to realize what’s wrong.
“This dress is tailor-made for Lily. If you have any preferences or likes, feel free to tell me.”
“But… does Lily really… deserve to… be dressed up like…”
“Of course.” I tousle Lily’s beautiful golden hair. “These clothes were designed just for a cute girl like Lily.”
Lily blushes and shyly lowers her head.
—Thump!
Quite a mood killer, a dull sound comes from the room next door.
“Don’t be scared, Lily. That’s just… a lost kitten.”
“Oh…”
“By the way, have you ever seen an elf?”
“Elf…?”
“Like, a race with pointy ears and beautiful appearance.”
I use my hands to gesture the features of an elf, and Lily thinks carefully for a moment.
“I think I’ve seen one while begging…”
It seems Lily isn’t particularly familiar with elves.
I worry that bringing Lily to identify the criminal would bring back bad memories, but from her reaction, she seems as unfamiliar with the elves of Midgard as any ordinary person in the Kingdom of Mikael.
What could the identity of that elf girl be?
