Volume 1 Chapter 37
In the real world, there’s a tool called a “stun gun,” commonly used by women for self-defense. It works by releasing high-voltage pulses to shock the assailant into submission.
[Cardiac Arrest] is a skill that operates on a similar principle. However, unlike in reality, you can’t use lightning magic to directly affect internal organs unless you have medical skills. Just like fire magic can theoretically ignite flammable objects, but you actually have to activate the burning branch in the skill tree.
I press my palm against the mysterious person’s left chest and release a powerful electric current.
It doesn’t feel like being electrocuted in reality, but the end result is the same. The game represents the shocked state as “dizzy.”
The mysterious person grunts and collapses like a lump of mud on the grass.
[Cardiac Arrest] only works with direct contact to the chest. Regular clothing or low-defense soft armor can’t resist it. It’s not easy to use [Cardiac Arrest] up close in regular combat, but the mysterious person could never have anticipated that I would use [Time Stasis], an almost unconditionally advantageous spell.
In a one-on-one fight, I have absolute confidence.
That soft sensation on my palm just now…
I’m very familiar with that kind of touch. I’d just experienced it a few minutes ago while bathing with Lily. But undoubtedly, mine are softer and larger, hmm~
…Wait, why am I bragging?
Just as I’m about to lift the mysterious person’s hood, two guards carrying torches arrive in the courtyard. Likely, they were alerted by our fight, as their [Detection] skills are much higher than Lily’s.
“What’s going on?”
“Is there a thief?”
The torch-bearing guards question me.
If I tell the truth, the mysterious person would be arrested for trespassing. I can’t give her up; I would lose the opportunity to interrogate her.
“I’m terribly sorry,” I bow slightly to the guards. “She’s a visiting guest who drank too much and got a bit unruly, so I had to subdue her using special means.”
“I see.”
The guards don’t doubt me. In any village with a tavern, drunken disorderliness is more common than theft. It’s a frequent offense during night patrols.
“You better watch her closely. No matter the reason, causing a disturbance at night is strictly prohibited.”
“Thank you for your advice… Ah, please wait.”
I quickly stop the departing guards and take some pastries out of my storage space, handing them over.
“What’s this?”
“I thought everyone must be having a tough time lately because of me. So, I made some cakes as a thank-you. I hope you like them.”
The guards are intrigued and each take a pastry from the bag.
“Wow—this is really good.”
“Let me try, let me try.”
“You said cakes are for women!”
“That was then, this is now. You planning to hog it all?”
I had made these pastries while preparing dinner, intending to give them to Uncle François and the others tomorrow. Since the guards are here tonight, it’s a good opportunity to give them away.
“Is Uncle François not here?”
“The captain will be back tomorrow.”
“Some bigwigs up there have a mission for him; he’s got to run an errand.”
“Something about looking for someone?”
“Either way, we’re busy again… Hey! That’s mine, stop grabbing!”
The guards quickly finish the pastries in the bag.
Uncle François’s superior, Count Montferret? Someone went missing?
“I have plenty more… could I ask you to share these with everyone?”
“No problem!”
“Let’s just eat it all, let those animals be jealous.”
“Get some rest, we’re off to continue our patrol.”
“Alright…”
I watch as the bright torches disappear around the street corner, then hoist the mysterious person over my shoulder like a sack of rice and head back inside. She’s light; I knew that when I flung her out with the chain.
Once back inside, after confirming no other intruders, I take her to the bedroom next to Lily’s and lift her hood.
As expected.
That soft sensation could only be the curves of a girl.
Her radiant silver hair, bound for so long, blossoms like a flower as the hood falls away. Although she’s unconscious from my electric skill, she looks like Sleeping Beauty from a fairy tale.
Pushing aside her disheveled silver hair, I spot the long, pointed ears characteristic of elves.
Elves.
Strange, what’s an elf doing in the Kingdom of Mikael?
All these questions will have to wait until she wakes up. But I do feel a bit relieved; if a man had seen me and Lily’s bodies, I would have to consider extreme measures. Of course, that’s not to say being spied on by an elf girl can be easily dismissed; we’ll settle that score later.
Lily wants me to sleep with her… so what about this one?
An idea flashes through my mind. I pull out several long, sturdy hemp ropes from under my skirt. Facing the defenseless elf girl, the corners of my mouth can’t help but turn up slightly.
Sorry to inconvenience you~
