Reincarnated Maid is About To Be Captured by All Players

Volume 1 Chapter 24

When I came to my senses, I had already brought the child back home.

The lawn in the courtyard was trampled messily. What kind of expressions did the adventurers have when they found I wasn’t home today? It’s a pity I couldn’t see that.

“Having no electric lights is really inconvenient…”

I gently place the young girl I brought home on the bed and light the lamp in the bedroom. The commoners use medieval-style lighting at night, like oil lamps and candles, or torches when outside. Those with a bit of magical ability have the privilege of using more convenient lighting. Just infuse the lamp’s base with fire element, and it can stay lit all night.

Healing in this game world is much more convenient than in reality, but not all injuries can be easily treated. I envy adventurers; all they need to do is maintain full HP.

The girl is covered in a ragged piece of black cloth. Carefully lifting a corner, I find that the clothing underneath is also severely damaged, leaving only a few pieces to cover her modesty.

No age-restriction protections seem to have been triggered. Is it because we’re both NPCs? Or because checking wounds when injured doesn’t trigger age-restriction? Either way, it’s not the point. Her injuries are far more severe than I had imagined. Her tiny body is covered in wounds, some places are even horribly mangled.

“Is this really the time to worry about gender differences?”

For just this moment, I’ll consider myself a woman. Any more hesitation, and her life could be in danger.

I carefully remove the few scraps of cloth hanging on her, thankful that no restrictions were triggered.

Under the light, I quickly clean her wounds and bandage her up. She’s practically a bloodied figure. Her debuff isn’t just [Bleeding] or [Uncontrolled Bleeding], but rather [Severe Blood Loss], just one step away from death. If I could see her health bar, I’m sure it would be in the red danger zone.

My [Healing] level is at Lv.Max, thanks to the max-level healing skill, the effect of [Resurrection] is triggered: it activates when the target’s HP is below 5% and prevents it from dropping until it rises above 20%. This skill cannot be used in combat.

The bandages stop the bleeding instantly and lock the blood level, quite magical when any skill reaches max level.

All I can do now is to keep her alive temporarily. I’ll need to visit the apothecary for more medical supplies first thing tomorrow.

Her debuffs are numerous: [Severe Blood Loss], [Broken Bones], [Extreme Fatigue], [Starving], [Dehydration]… These kinds of debuffs rarely even appear on mercenaries who live life on the edge, let alone a young girl.

I prepare the most comfortable bedding possible to help her rest and recover from extreme fatigue. I have a skill called “Bone Setting” for treating broken bones, even comminuted fractures can be perfectly healed.

Bone setting effectiveness depends on the severity of the fracture and the skill level; failure could lead to complications, like a limp. But fixing it is also simple—just break the leg again and reset it. A successful setting restores normal function. Quite magical, isn’t it?

She doesn’t just have severe external injuries; there are numerous fractures as well. These are definitely not caused by animal attacks; they’re man-made.

“Who would do this to such a small child…”

I remember that players receive penalties for attacking innocent NPCs. The penalties are even harsher for attacking elders, children, and pregnant NPCs. The injuries on the girl are clearly intended to kill.

She would have died from blood loss if it weren’t for my max-level healing skills. Whoever wanted her dead might come looking for her and bring a lot of trouble.

But I don’t regret saving her. I still don’t know the full story, but once she wakes up, I’ll try to find out what happened.

I feed her some Slime Soup made from the remaining slime meat I have at home. It won’t fill her up, but it will slow down her starvation and also easily deal with the dehydration debuff. When she wakes up, she can eat regular food. The soup tastes surprisingly good, quite like the tremella soup in the real world.

“Alright, next… though I don’t want to…”

I’d hoped never to use the [Bedside Care] skill. Let me clarify, I don’t have any intentions to sleep next to a blonde loli. But seeing her young face twisted in pain, I can’t just stand by.

What had she gone through to be in such a state of extreme fatigue and still be plagued by nightmares?

I bend down and gently kiss her forehead.

Goodnight.

There’s no one here who will hurt you. Rest assured, and have a beautiful dream.
