Reincarnated Maid is About To Be Captured by All Players

Volume 1 Chapter 19

“That—that is—”

Tsuzuki Kyousuke’s husband seemed tongue-tied, unable to articulate a complete sentence for a while. His cold sweat was pouring, making it look like I was threatening him.

I quietly waited for his answer, and suddenly, Tsuzuki Kyousuke’s husband clapped his hands.

“I have to go, my family is calling me for dinner!”

The sun hadn’t even set—I was about to ask him to stay, but he logged off at the speed of light. His character, losing control, fell flat on the ground.

Unlike other virtual MMOs, in “The Eternal Pacificus,” a player’s character doesn’t disappear immediately after logging out. They continue to exist in the game at a slower rate of hunger decay. If you don’t log in for a long time, your character will starve to death and then disappear from the Limoria continent.

Players generally choose to log out in safe zones. There’s a clear existence of a [Stealing] skill in the game, so the more bustling a safe zone, the harder it is to steal. Each village or town has its own [Stability], commonly referred to as “public order” by players. The higher the [Stability], the harder it is to steal within its jurisdiction. For example, in the capital of Mikael Kingdom, Uriel, the [Stability] is always at its peak, making theft almost impossible.

But logging out in a neutral zone, you lose the protection of [Stability]. If you’re not careful, you could lose items, and in dangerous zones, you could even be killed.

Additionally, the quality of sleep affects the recovery of [Fatigue]. Every village has inns that provide lodging services. If you can’t afford it or the inns are full, you can sleep on the streets, and the only consequence will be a fine from the friendly guards for disturbing the peace.

Logging out haphazardly in a mercenary camp, which is a safe zone only for members, is not advisable.

I have no choice but to ask others.

“My classmate needs me, gotta go!”

“I’m working on my thesis!”

“I have to catch up on my anime!”

Within a minute, the camp of Anna’s Support Group was littered with logged-out characters; all players except Hohenheim chose to log out.

“Well… everyone’s busy.”

“What… what is it, Anna? You’re…”

“I’m cleaning. Please inform everyone, Hohenheim.”

Everyone has either left or is drunk, and the game can’t continue, so it’s time for me to clean up.

I wash the used kitchenware, put back the borrowed tables and chairs, and dispose of the kitchen waste. Lastly, I wash everyone’s alcohol-stained clothes. Let’s start with the first task.

The kitchenware came from the camp’s warehouse, suggested by Tsuzuki Kyousuke’s husband. He mentioned that everyone who could cook was in jail, so they hadn’t had a proper meal in a long time. So I know where to return the kitchenware.

The cleaning tools aren’t advanced, but then again, there’s not much grease. Just like the players introduced high heels and glasses, cleaning tools have been improved, and using familiar cleaning products helps a lot.

The tables and chairs… um, I didn’t take them out. Where should I put them back?

“Hohenheim.”

I decided to ask Hohenheim for help. He’s been standing in place, staring at me blankly.

“Where should I put the tables and chairs?”

“Uh… Anna, why did you start cleaning all of a sudden?”

“I’m fulfilling my duties.”

It’s not like a maid should sit around while the mercenaries do the cleaning.

“We have shifts, Anna. You don’t have to do everything.”

“Laziness leads to rust.”

Honestly, staying at home never gave me the chance to do a big clean-up. It’s always clean, and doing it day after day makes it hard to keep up the enthusiasm.

“Nobody likes a lazy servant. The adventurers who visited yesterday probably appreciated my diligence.”

No longer able to serve by the young lady’s side, perhaps I should find a new employer in Limoria as Anastasia. In my view, being a servant is a profession, and a servant pining from afar is worthless. I think the young lady would agree; she has returned to her family, and I should also brace myself.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve never had family by my side. The young lady is my only concern in the real world.

Now, all I can offer to the young lady are my prayers. To survive in Limoria, I need an employer.

However, Hohenheim puts on a serious expression.

“Is that how you see it, Anna?”

“Yes.”

Don’t they need servants? Although Texas said they needed a female secretary, it’s basically the same thing.

“No, that’s not it… Anna, we need to have a serious talk.”

I wonder if Hohenheim bought glasses just to push them up on his nose. No matter what he’s doing, he seems to enjoy pushing up his glasses.

“To be honest, Anna, when we invited you for Bacchus, we actually wanted to keep you here.”

I already knew that.

“The adventurers showing interest in you, I know why. From the standpoint of a fellow adventurer, what they value is not your individual abilities.”
