Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players

Chapter 11: Last Cat In Universe

Shock rocked Jung on the spot. How could such a tiny and cute creature wield such unbelievable power? He examined the cat for a long time. Emotions surged within him, while happiness rose to the surface.

It was time for taming. "You will be my first cat in my cat empire." He declared, took out a wizard taming pill from inventory, and offered it to the animal. His hands were shaky, no matter how many lives he endured, there was no cat in them to offer him comfort.

As for the cat, the living thing devoured the pill. It was bouncing up and down and licking its paws. Whispering to himself, Jung tried to touch the mushy animal.

[You tamed Nero The Shadowpaw!]

[This is the first beast you tamed.]

[Bonus rewards are in your inventory.]

"Wow, the name itself sounds cool. System, can I see her status as well?" Jung's face exposed a wide smirk.

"Tier VI? Damn Pussy Cat is so much stronger than me!" the boy exclaimed, but there was no frustration in his voice. On the contrary, he was amused.

But he still found something to scowl at. "Why the hell are most of her skills and progress frozen?"

There was silence, no answer was heard.

At least not openly.

"Mortal like you can't comprehend it." The answer came. Telepathically. From the cat.

"It's a pity," said Jung with a common tone and face, with no emotion.

"What do you mean, it's a pity? I am talking to you in your rotten mind, where is a usual scared, confused, or amazed reaction?" Nero couldn't believe her fluffy ears.

Jung, without breaking his character, said, "And? Should I start jumping around screaming at the top of my lungs?"

"Yes! That is what you MUST be doing. Since you are at it, kowtow to me after you are done." Nero's voice rang in Jung's head. It was loud and dominant, asking for obedience.

"Can I pet and hug you after that?" Jung asked, while his thoughts were jumbled in his mind. 'Talking cat. A freaking cat that talks. I want to touch it. I am going to touch it.'

"What?" the cat questioned.

"What!" Jung repeated with a different intonation.

Another quietness descended. It was long and unending, but loud at the same time.

Jung broke that silence, he was a master, a human, and had to take the lead. "I tamed you, but it doesn't mean I am going to use you as a slave. I have other people for that." He took a pause and looked at the cat with soothing eyes.

"Thank you for your help. You saved me. And I am thankful for that. I promise I am going to help you get your skills back."

One more stillness. This time Nero broke it. "You are not ready!" Her body shivered after hearing Jung's promise. Like a beacon in the dark, his words spoke to her.

"I know!" Jung didn't try to argue. "But I WILL be ready." He had a smirk which was comical but genuine.

"Okay, you need to listen to my st…" Nero was about to begin her storytelling when the boy interrupted.

"I know you have important details you have to share, but in the meantime, can I pet you?" Jung asked and acted like he was embarrassed.

Nero closed her eyes in frustration but nodded. "Go ahead. Though you are not getting too many details."

Excited, Jung couldn't care less about that. Jogging before the animal, he felt like he owned the world.

"I am the one and only cat on this planet," she said with sadness and pain in her expression.

The speech instantly made the boy flinch. His affectionate hands gained more warmth. 'It feels good.' Despite the situation he was in, he let himself bask in the pleasure.

"That shitty god cursed all the cats, and I am the lone survivor." Nero's memory stirred, remembering the past and the agony she and her species had to go through.

"Wait, you are telling me gods are real?" Jung focused on the wrong part. At least he was handling the paw with care. "Are they somehow connected to Archeons, the beings who created archetypes?"

"That is beside the point, and yes, gods are real," Nero explained. "As for Archeons, even I am not sure."

Confusion didn't leave his mind. 'How come I've never heard of them since I came here?' Jung had one more statement to make, and he said it confidently. "Then I will become a god and help you!"

Nero smacked him in the face. "Stupid child! You don't even know what you are talking about."

Jung didn't back down. "I am stupid, right?" He even hit the cat himself. "You are the dumb one who can't even see my potential."

Because of his striking action, another brawl started. In the end, his face had claw marks, but it started healing straight away. "I said that I would help you, and let me repeat myself. I will find that god and kick his ass."

Nero wanted to believe him. She couldn't put her paws on the exact reason. Was it his confidence? Or her lack of options?

No matter what happened, she wouldn't lose anything. "I am with you, but if you dare and go back on your promise, no more patting and touching for you."

Her determination could be felt, even in his mind. "How come you are so sure that you can do it?" She couldn't contain her interest.

Jung giggled and said to someone else. 'I have a drowsy but the finest system with me.'

After pondering a bit more, he opened his mouth with conviction. "I am going to prove with action, not with words," Jung said and recalled something important.

"I am late! Mom and Dad are going to lose it." He couldn't care less about being older than Baki and Lisa. They were his first genuine family, and nothing could change that.

Scampering, he left the place with only one glance at the dead bird. As the kill wasn't his, he got nothing out of it.

"How should I hide or explain about you?" Another question was asked, and with it, two answers reached him.

[Monsters that are in your care can live in your heart.]

"Feel persona from me, and I am going to rest in your heart. I am tired."
