Chapter 429: Dystopian Elven War [5] [Eternal]
"You have ten seconds." I whispered. "Run."
My wings unfolded majestically behind me.
The screen flickered and I could see him staggering backwards.
The two Eternals by his side also came into my view for a split second before the screen turned black.
Aimar coughed as my wings folded fully. "You need help?"
"How are you—."
He opened a portal before I could complete my sentence.
"I tracked the spear you threw." He replied, smiling. "Aren't I a genius?"
"Stupid fuck." I grumpily said, walking inside the portal.
'Man, I wanted to show off my speed to him.'
Though regretful, there was nothing I could do about it.
The portal opened up to a large room that was shaped like a dome.
There was a staircase that ran around the place with a few more different items all around.
The room we stepped into was dimly lit, with soft blue lights running along the edges.
And….
At the very centre were eight people scrambling to open a portal.
Vanadis was one of them.
"Time's up." I said, clapping my hands to take their attention. "Now, be a good boy and come with me."
Vanadis didn't seem to appreciate my kindness as he glared furiously.
"Kill him!" He yelled, pointing at me. "Kill him and I will give you a hundred million."
Aimar whistled, raising his hand. "Can I participat—."
I snapped my head towards him and he immediately looked away.
The other six didn't seem to care as they walked forward toward me.
Their weapons drawn, eyes staring dead into mine.
'This is going to be a pain.'
I thought, rubbing the back of my neck as I took a step forward.
In an instant, the distance between us was just a few inches as I stood in front of them.
Before he could even move, I conjured a hammer of mana and swept at him.
A wisp of wind enfolded the man and he was immediately thrown away, his body turned into a cluster of blood.
The others quickly rushed in for the kill.
The shape of my weapon changed at my will. Using the shield, I defended against the mirage of spells.
"Hupp!"
Taking in a deep breath, I spun around along with the shield and slammed into one of them.
"ARGHH!?"
Spikes poked his body coming out of the shield, turning him into cheese.
The others didn't stop and I didn't expect them to.
'That's a lot of money, I guess.'
One of them lunged from behind, blades coated in cursed energy, aiming for my neck.
I ducked and summoned a chain, wrapping it around their wrist in a blink.
With a quick yank, I slammed them into the floor hard enough to crack the ground.
Another one fired a barrage of flame spells from a distance, trying to trap me with heat and smoke.
I snapped my fingers.
The flames curved around me—redirected into a spiral and fired back like a cannon blast.
It hit the caster square in the chest.
She flew backwards into a wall and didn't get up again.
Three down.
Two of the remaining three were fast, like fast enough to reach the speed of an Eternal.
Speed-types, probably wind-aligned.
They came at me from both sides, their blades shimmering with enchantments.
I stomped once on the ground.
A surge of energy exploded from the floor, breaking the tiles.
The two flinched, but only for a split second.
But that was all I needed.
I caught the one on the left by the throat and slammed her into the other.
Her spine cracked and her neck snapped.
Her body slumped to the ground.
I turned to the last one.
He stood still, sword lowered, shaking slightly.
His eyes darted toward Vanadis, who was already trying to sneak away toward the staircase.
I sighed. "Go."
He blinked. "W-What?"
"I said go."
He didn't wait for a second chance. He dropped his sword and ran.
"Coward!" Vanadis shouted at him, nearly tripping over his own coat as he climbed the stairs.
I appeared in front of him before he reached the second step.
Vanadis skidded to a stop, eyes wide.
"Yo." I smiled.
The young man with antlers jumped off, and now only the two Eternals stood in front of me.
One of them raised their hand. "Stop!"
I blinked.
"Do you even know what you are doing!?" He snapped, glaring daggers at me.
"This is the House Atretic's property! By trying to mess with us, you are slapping them on their face!"
I tilted my head as I walked a step closer. "So, what?"
"You think the church will protect you?" The other Eternal said, his voice venomous. "They are too scared of us to keep you safe."
I rubbed my chin as I observed them properly.
They both had dark green coloured hair with the same deer-like antlers.
One was tall, like around a head taller than me, while the other was my size.
They would have been threatening. Taking into account them being Eternals, they really should.
But…
'They are really weak.'
Maybe it's just me.
"Why are you talking with him!?" Vanadis snapped, his voice booming in the place. "Just kill him already, I will deal with the consequences!!"
The pair of Eternals seemed to grow some balls as they rushed towards me.
In the blink of an eye, they were on either side of me.
I suppressed the desire to use El's ability as I requested mana.
'Show me the way.'
I thought, using my ability as the Child of Mana.
'Azala.'
The world around me turned like filtering layers.
The two Eternals became layers of themselves.
Their every next move that they can and will use lay bare for my eyes to see.
As time passed, the layers turned less and less until I had their set of moves.
I immediately rushed in, knowing full well what they would do.
I bent backward just as a blade sliced through where my neck had been a second ago.
At the same time, I kicked up and struck the shorter Eternal in the ribs.
The exact spot I saw in the Azala layer.
His breath caught, and his body jerked back.
The taller one went for a follow-up strike, claws wrapped in green fire.
But I already knew.
I raised a wall of mana-infused veins from the ground.
His claw slammed into it—then bounced back as the wall shattered into splinters of energy and pierced his side.
He hissed, stumbling back.
The shorter one tried to rush in again, his body now glowing with some kind of reinforcement spell.
I didn't let him get close.
My arm turned purple with void as I conjured a spike and hurled it through his shoulder.
He screamed and dropped his weapon.
The taller Eternal gritted his teeth, lunging with full force. No hesitation this time, just rage.
His antlers glowed, and bones burst from the ground, trying to bind me in place.
"Cute," I muttered.
'Disrupt.'
With a pulse of my mana, the bones disintegrated mid-air.
I stepped forward, raised my hand, and brought it down like a hammer on his chest.
The sound echoed like a gong.
He crashed into the floor, coughing blood, the tiles around him shattering from the impact.
The shorter one tried to crawl toward the tall guy who stood up, albeit in pain.
Aimar was keeping an eye on Vanadis so I could focus on them.
"Are you giving up?" I asked, tilting my head. "You still have time."
The taller one glared at me then looked at his partner.
They both nodded in silent agreement before both raised their hands.
"Come forth."
They both spoke in unison.
"My kingdom."
I blinked, and a dome completely submerged us in an instant.
---
When the light returned, I was inside their domain.
The sky above was blood-red, swirling like a storm.
The ground beneath my feet was white bone that was endless, stacked and crushed together, cracking with each step.
And then there were the deer.
But not normal ones.
Their antlers curved unnaturally, like twisted thorns.
Their eyes glowed a sickly green, and their bodies… were stitched together from different creatures.
Some had wings. Others had fangs. One had hands instead of hooves.
'Well, this is… charming.'
I heard a whisper behind me, and when I turned, the two Eternals stood tall at the highest ridge.
"Welcome to our kingdom," one of them said, arms stretched. "Here, we are gods."
'So, they both opened their kingdom together, huh?'
I thought, getting the hang of the situation.
'With the taller one being mid-Eternal, he let the shorter one, a low-Eternal, open his kingdom.'
A good way to keep me in, I must say.
[<You have only a minute before the demigod rushes in.>]
Inna's voice echoed within my mind as I admired the place.
'Thanks, babe.'
[<…..>]
Well, I guess I shouldn't waste too much time.
The taller Eternal jumped down first, the bone below cracking like glass as he landed.
"Your tricks won't work here, miracle boy."
The shorter one landed beside him. "You should give up."
Instead of listening to them, I raised my hand and crossed my fingers.
Finding something amiss, the tall Eternal rushed in first.
His body blurred as he vanished and reappeared right above me, swinging a scythe formed from his own rib.
I met him mid-air with a blade of void, our weapons clashing with a sharp crack.
The impact sent shockwaves through the air, shaking even the twisted trees nearby.
From behind, the shorter Eternal summoned one of the deers.
It screeched, charging toward me like a beast from a nightmare.
I spun and kicked the scythe wielder back—then aimed my palm at the charging deer.
A cluster of purple spears erupted from the ground and skewered it before it could reach me.
Before they recovered, I whispered. "Simple Kingdom."
A cluster of white formed under my feet.
It swirled like the eye of a cyclone before it enlarged.
In just a split second, the entire kingdom turned white.
The deers, bones, and everything vanished from the place.
All I did was cover their kingdom with my own simple kingdom.
And the shock on their face just told one thing, how impossible that is.
The taller Eternal stumbled back, his eyes wide in disbelief.
"No… that's not possible—"
"You overwrote our kingdom?" the shorter one whispered, his voice cracking.
The taller Eternal growled and summoned his scythe again. "You arrogant little—!"
He dashed at me, movements sharper now, trying to cut through whatever pressure he felt.
The ground cracked with every step, trying to resist his pace.
But it didn't matter.
Because the moment he entered my range, everything slowed down.
Without the kingdom, his strength was far less than mine.
I stepped forward and my body blurred.
Crack!!
The tall Eternal blinked, staring at my face but…I was standing behind him.
His body stumbled down with his neck twisted completely.
The shorter Eternal turned on his heel before dashing in the opposite direction.
I crossed my fingers once again. "Pillar of light."
The 'Sun' obeyed my will and a beam of light cracked through my kingdom.
It hit the unprepared Eternal and burned his outer layer in an instant.
With both Eternals gone, the kingdom trembled and I returned back.
Aimar waved at me, sitting over the unconscious body of Vanadis. "Yo!"
I smiled as I took out a device and threw it on the ground.
A portal formed above it as I looked at Aimar. "Go inside."
He didn't argue as he rushed in, vanishing inside as I turned around towards the east.
Even so far, I could still feel him… the Demigod rushing towards us.
I slowly walked back towards the portal, taking my time… calculating it.
BOOMM!!!
When I was just one step away, the ceiling burst open.
"STOP!!!!"
I smiled as I saw the demigod's furious face bursting toward me in supersonic speed.
'I will enjoy this game, House Atretic.'
I showed him a middle finger and submerged myself into the portal.
