Chapter 63: Aftermath
The next day,
I woke up with two soft, delicate bodies in my arms. My hands gently stroked their silky, green hair.
The warmth of their bodies pressed close to me, the softness of their skin… I couldn't help but savor the lingering sensations from last night.
Those two were truly something special.
Both Clem and her mother were obedient and gentle, just like I hoped—they both listened to me the whole night. The only difference was that one was innocent and the other mature.
I really had my fill.
Thinking about that, my excitement started to rise again. But Clem was still new to all this… Sigh, maybe not this time.
Besides, Morina should be waking up soon. I needed to check on her and comfort her properly, or who knows what she might do next.
Ah, women are always so much trouble… but honestly, I enjoy every bit of it.
As for Clem and her mom, there's always next time.
I grinned at the thought.
…
I went to check on Morina. She was already awake, lying in bed with her eyes open, but her gaze was lifeless and dull.
I couldn't help but sigh.
"Morina, I'm here. If you want to cry, just let it out. You'll feel better that way," I softly cradled her head to my chest.
"Uu… Nobita, I don't have a father anymore!" The tears burst from her eyes like a dam breaking.
"It's okay, I'm here," I comforted her gently.
Like my old self, I was always kind to others, but with women, I was even more gentle and tolerant.
Maybe that's why, just like in the original story, I always had this uncanny ability to connect with people.
My kindness was almost wicked in how easily it drew people in.
And at night, it was even more effective.
"Nobita, from now on, you're all I have left!" Morina whimpered like a kitten afraid of being abandoned.
But then, Morina did something I didn't expect.
"Mmm!"
She suddenly leaned in and kissed me, then pushed me down onto the bed.
Anyone else would have given in instantly with such a beautiful woman taking the initiative.
But I gently broke the kiss. Morina looked lost and uncertain.
"Nobita, why? Don't you like me?" Her voice was trembling, desperate.
I understood what she was thinking. But if I took advantage of her now, would I even be human? We had already crossed the line before; she was mine now. What was the rush?
"Silly, I'm here. I'll always be here." I hugged her tightly, letting my actions show how I felt.
"Look at you, how could we do something like that in your current state?"
"Don't lump me in with those who'd do anything for sex!"
"I'm not that shameless!"
"Nobita!" Morina was speechless.
She hugged me back, her arms tight around me, as if holding onto a new future.
We stayed like that, silent but knowing, letting the warmth linger between us.
Today, the sky over Koya Koya was red with the moon, not blue and sorrowful like before.
After comforting Morina, I left her feeling much better. She still couldn't hide all the sadness in her eyes, but at least she didn't look so lifeless.
…
The next day, Morina and I, along with the others, held a funeral for Mr. Burns.
But since he died in a hyperspace explosion, there wasn't even a body or ashes.
All we could do was build a cenotaph, placing some of his personal belongings inside the coffin, then bury it and set up a headstone above.
Strangely, Morina didn't bury him on her ranch like I expected, but next to Roppuru's grave instead.
She explained to me that she didn't want her dad to be lonely down there.
After all, both Mr. Burns and Roppuru gave their lives for Koya Koya. They'd have plenty to talk about together.
Looking at the two black-and-white photos on the gravestones, I couldn't help but feel a strange, unexplainable sensation. All the women I'd been close to were connected, in some way, to these two men.
The funeral was just as grand as Roppuru's had been. Many settlers came, even if they didn't know Mr. Burns personally—they wanted to show respect for someone who died for their planet. The mayor and Gamoran were among them.
Funny how they never showed up during the fighting, but now they were all eager to be seen.
I didn't even know how to complain about that.
Morina didn't bother hiding her coldness toward them, either. Throughout the entire ceremony, she answered none of their words and kept her distance.
The mayor and Gamoran looked incredibly awkward, but they didn't dare say anything. Not with me by her side, and certainly not with all the townsfolk watching.
They could only wait in silence for the ceremony to end.
When it was all over, it felt like the world had truly lost someone important.
Morina burst into tears, and I held her tightly.
"Dad, don't worry! I'll live well with Nobita!" After a while, Morina wiped her tears and spoke with new resolve.
"I'll inherit your and Roppuru's will, taking care of Koya Koya and making our home flourish. I won't let either of you down!"
Her words moved Clem and her mother to tears as well. Mr. Burns and Roppuru had both died for the sake of this planet.
"Morina-nee, come live with us from now on!" Clem couldn't help inviting her.
"Yes, please! It'll be good for all of us to look after each other," her mother agreed.
Morina looked at me, seeking my opinion—she was my woman now, after all.
"Morina, you should stay with them. I'll feel better knowing you're not alone," I smiled and nodded.
"Then, I'll be in your care, Clem, Auntie," Morina said shyly.
"Yay!" Clem was delighted. None of us would ever have to be lonely again.
Her mother was happy too, glad to welcome a new member to the family.
I was happy as well, though part of me wondered when I'd finally get to have all four of us together…
As I glanced at the two black-and-white photos on the graves, I thought silently,
Mr. Burns, Roppuru, don't worry. I'll take good care of them from now on.
