Chapter 227: The New Teachers
"..."
"..."
The next day, Van was back in his new job, sitting in front of the class. However, his head couldn't help but wander as the number of students he was detecting was much fewer than before.
Yesterday, during their introduction, there were 6. But now, there were only 4.
"...Where are the others?"
"They said that they do not want you as a teacher, and so they would not attend until you're still here. They are currently attending another class." The one with the highest cultivation amongst the students, Tina, responded bluntly.
"And you, why didn't you leave?"
"Because you still have not taught us anything. I will reserve my judgments at a later time."
"You… really sound mature for your age, Tina, wasn't it?"
"Yes. I am happy you remember my name, Teacher Viel." Tina said, her voice completely monotonous.
"And the others, could you speak so I would know who remained in class?"
"Here! Andrew Franklyn the Third!"
"My brother and I are still here, Barry and Gary."
It would seem the noisy one and the twins are still present. While the meek female student, Lillia, and the one that always seemed to be angry, Edward, were the ones that no longer wished to attend his class.
Viel could not help but let out a deep sigh. He only said that he needed them to destroy their cultivation yesterday, why would they leave with just that?
Speaking of which…
"I sense that none of you have destroyed your cultivation bases yet?"
"W… were you serious about that, teacher!?" Andrew raised his hand even though he knew that Viel can't see it.
"Yes. You need a better foundation if you wish to cultivate and reach the… heavens."
"R… reach the heavens!?"
Andrew's eyes lit up as soon as he heard Viel's words.
Tina, however, frowned. It would seem that Edward and Lillia were right to no longer attend this mad man's class, she thought as she quickly stood up.
"Where are you going, Tina?" Andrew could not help but tilt his head as the sound of Tina's chair squeaking reached his ears.
"I am going, I suggest the three of you do the same." Tina harrumphed before walking away. However, before she could step out of the door, she felt a sudden shift in the room. It was a feeling that she was very familiar with… the feeling of someone destroying their cultivation.
Tina quickly turned around, only to see their new teacher, Viel, with two of his fingers piercing his own stomach.
"!!!"
Andrew, Barry, and Gary could not help but stand up from their desk in shock as Viel suddenly destroyed his cultivation out of nowhere, and so casually at that.
True, he was only at the beginning stages of cultivation… but only someone insane would do something like that without even batting an eye.
"You… are crazy," Tina muttered as she slightly backed away. She wanted to leave the class as soon as possible, but her feet weren't moving, as if they themselves were curious as to what was happening.
"Why--"
She was about to say something again, but before she could do so, she sensed another familiar feeling echo inside the whole room.
"!!!"
A breakthrough.
Their new teacher just broke through!? Right after he destroyed his cultivation, he already broke through and once again stepped into the world of cultivation.
"See?" Viel let out a warm smile. "It's easy. With time and practice, all of you will be able to do the same thing."
No, we definitely can not-- were the thoughts of everyone in the room. But a few seconds later, Tina once again felt the feeling of someone destroying their cultivation…
...It was Andrew, his bald head shining and cheeks jiggling as a satisfied smile plastered on his face.
'You're happy!?' Were Tina's thoughts as she looked at her classmate. However, it did not stop there. The twins also did the same thing, they destroyed each other's cultivation.
"Are… are all of you crazy!?"
And so, her screams filled the entire class… as she closed the door and remained inside the class.

"I… I will report you to the H...headmaster!"
"Go ahead, I will replace him soon."
"W… what!?"
In the class next door, Sofia was casually sitting at her desk. A cup of coffee on the fingertips as she leisurely read a book on her warm and relaxing seat.
Her students, however, were currently encased in a frozen wall… since yesterday.
"I own this school, so any of your complaints will only end up back to me," Sofia said before taking a sip of her coffee.
"This… this is an abuse of authority!"
"Look, I think Gene is dead! You murderer! You killed your student!"
"Oh? He's pretty much alive, I can still detect his mana-- his qi from here."
"L… Let us out now!"
The chatter of their teeth and the trembling of their jaw pierced the thick ice wall as their voices echoed throughout the cold room. Sofia, however, seemed like she was hearing none of it as she continued to leisurely read her book.
"Based on the fluctuations of your qi… in three hours, one of you will die."
"!!!"
"L...let us out, let us out now!"
"If you want to get out, then summon some magic." Sofia finally closed her book and stood up, she then raised her hand.
And as soon as she did so, a huge ball of fire hovered on her fingertip, the bright light reflecting on her spectacles.
"I thought this was the class for Magic Arts? Aren't all of you already adults? Then shouldn't all of you be able to do at least something like this now?"
"We… we can! But we need complete silence in order to focus--"
"Complete silence? The undead are already in this country's borders and you ask for complete silence? Do you think the undead would stop screaming if you ask them to? Most of you are about to be sent to war a few months from now. What are you going to do, wear earbuds as your brethren are being mauled by the enemy?"
"T… that…"
"If none of you are able to get out of this in 3 hours, all of you will either fail, or one of you will die and still fail the class," Sofia said as she knocked on the thick layer of ice between her and the students. She then casually sat back to her seat and once again started reading her book.
Dead. They're all dead, the students thought. The last teacher they had was a bearded old man, grey hair all over his face. So when they first saw that someone like Sofia was their new teacher, a beautiful and not to mention an extremely hot woman, they quickly whistled and jeered.
But alas, it would seem their calls instantly turned into cries as Sofia suddenly encased them in a wall of ice before introducing herself.
However, what she said struck a bone in their body. It was the truth, a few months from now, they will be sent to the borders to replace their tired brethren. And seeing how they are now, they would surely not last even a single day out there.
They would die.
The students all looked at each other and nodded. They then huddled up, gathering their resolve as their deafening roars almost made Sofia choke on her coffee.
"..." Sofia could not help but blink a couple of times as she stared at her students all holding hands, using the power of friendship to overcome their current dilemma.
And to Sofia's surprise, it worked.
A huge ball of flame appeared in the middle of their circle. The group then lifted the flame up, their hands still together as they raised it.
And soon, Sofia could hear a drop of water. And a few minutes more, a hole was made in the thick barrier of ice.
"!!!"
"We did it!"
"We finally did it!"
The group once again roared and raised their hands in the air as they had finally achieved victory. It was so sweet, they all thought. A sweet, sweet victory.
"Good work, my students." Sofia lightly clapped her hands as she looked at her students.
The students couldn't help but cry as they heard Sofia praising them. Her next words, however, instantly turned their tears of joy into pain.
"Time for another one, then.'
"...What?"
"Do your best." Were the last words they heard from Sofia as darkness completely filled their vision.
After a wall of ice…
...Now they had to get through a wall of earth. Made harder by the marble and rocks that structured the classroom.
***
"This is his class, brother! He told us to destroy our cultivation bases!"
"Seriously, why is the Headmaster hiring such crooks these days?"
Outside of Viel's classroom, one of his former students, Edward, was currently with a man that looked eerily similar to himself.
"Come on, then. Let's teach this man who he's messing with."
