Chapter 15: It Was A Trap!
CHAPTER 15
" Ahhhhhh!" He kept yelling at the top of his lungs as he kept patting his around around him, looking for something to hold onto.
His eyes were slowly popping out, his eyes bulging as he finally reached the wall and began to slowly help himself back on his feet.
His veins were bulging, glowing blue while they continued to pulsate. He could feel the huge amount of energy building up inside him like he was about to burst open with a great surge.
Amidst all the pain he felt, his mind could only trace back to the cause of his current state — his mother — the only reason why he had begun resenting this new world at that moment.
" Apparently, I thought that living a life with physical abilities at their best was the best life I could ever look up to, so much that I forgot what world I was born in." He thought, tears, building up in his eyes as he looked towards the creature, " This must be her way of bringing me back to reality, hehehe hahaha."
" Oh well, you do see that I'm about to die, right? Mother please, I can't fight anymore, I-I can't do it anymore." He pleaded falling to his knees with his gaze intently fixed on the creature.
He knew better than to stay as far as he was from it but the energy surging within the creature grew stronger with every passing moment.
He couldn't fully comprehend what grade the demon was in — the power system wasn't the most accurate since it only measured their innate and external capabilities and gauged their strengths off of that.
And in most cases, a fifty-fifty hundred will be graded higher than a full hundred. Some idiot might say that it provides better versatility but the weakness isn't worth the risk.
But that was his problem, with the way the creature was growing, he was sure that his energy capabilities ate full strength wouldn't be able to reach half of its.
He had been kneeling there, crying for help, but no one came. Alone in a shroud of darkness, calling for the only person he believed could lead him out because he believed he had run out of options.
" Someone! Is anyone there? Please, I mean to get out of here!"
He kept calling for aid, but silence was all that ensued after that. His eyes were filled with tears as his mind constantly drifted to the thought of being betrayed.
*Maybe they were a group of demons and just wanted him out of the way while entertaining themselves.
Did she go through this? Why would she do this to me?*
" Ugh fuck, I'll just do it on my own." He cursed, quickly getting up from the ground as he charged straight towards the surging sense of energy.
The drug's effects had finally worn off and he could feel his human emotions coming back to him — all he could feel was sadness and anger.
An explanation was subconsciously demanded as much as he needed consolidation. But he allowed himself elusive thoughts that slowly clouded his mind, to the point where she quickly started running towards the evolving creature.
He pulled back his hands, jumping straight into the air as he let out another scream at the top of his lungs. A surge of the new innate energy he extracted began to build within his fist, causing his veins to pulsate once again as he thrust down at the demon.
A strange feeling of unease hit just as he was about to make contact with the demon — his heart skipped a beat as he was shrouded in darkness for a split second.
He was left helpless as his fist collided with the building energy emanating from the creature. A surge erupted, spreading across the room as he was blown against the wall.
He groaned loudly in pain; his back ached against the wall. The surge of energy stopped after a few seconds before he fell to the ground, raising his head slowly to realize that all the torches had gone off.
He was left in darkness, barely clinging to life.
" Am I really about to die here?"
Cursing under his breath as he tried to keep himself up he could feel the presence of the demon, its footsteps getting louder with each step it took closer to him.
—Swish!
Came the slicing sound of the creature's huge weapon as it swung it down at him. He couldn't accept his fate at that moment, staring at the ground in darkness as the sword descended on him.
*It's only a dream! It's only a fucking dream!*
With that, he closed his eyes before slowly drifting away...
" Megumi! Megumi! Hey! Wake up!"
" Damnit! Megumi! Wake... Up!"
" Huh... W-who's th-there?" He stammered, slowly opening his eyes.
A searing pain ran through his entire body as he tried lifting himself up from where he was. He groaned in pain, gritting his teeth as he quickly turned away his face in pain.
His cheeks felt like they were burning up, most likely due to all the slaps he had received from whoever was calling him. They were still there, leaning over him.
" Are... You... Okay..."
He instantly recognized the voice — familiar and momentarily nostalgic, yet confusing at the same time. What was his elder sister doing here?
" Your brother, has he woken up yet?" Another voice came from the side.
He was hit with even more confusion at that moment, turning his head up once again to see his sister staring intently at him with her hands covered in blood—dried blood, her face expressionless as always.
" Wha-what happened t-" he stopped mid-sentence, coughing violently while his throat ached. The coughing stopped after a few seconds, but he lost the strength to finish his sentence.
" He's in no condition to fight, is he? I'll see what the others have to say on what we should do next. I highly doubt it'll be long before the demon finds out where we are."
" I know. I'll do something about his missing hand, just give me a minute, but he might have lost a lot of blood."
The chatter in the room continued while he lay there, confused as he was terrified at what was happening.
He thought that it must have been his mother playing her mind tricks on him once again, but as time went on, the thought of that possibility began to reduce. He may have been fooled, but it definitely wasn't his mother.
" Hey sis, how did you end up here?" He asked, bearing the intense pain in his search for clarification.
" I was walking around the beach when I came across a strange cave by the edge of the cliff, seemed so much like it shouldn't have been there. I walked in to check it out, but it closed up the moment I did. You?"
