Chapter 280: Breaking a City Barrier~
A short time before the barrier guarding Fish Stone City ended up falling apart, Scaly had found herself trying several different ways to deal with the rage bull but found herself increasingly troubled by the monster's powerful healing abilities. Not just her water blades, but even when she bought herself some time and used her lightning magic for a powerful attack, she wasn't able to kill the rage bull, as even bleeding heavily with one of its legs almost blown off, it was able to recover in relative short period of time. Leaving her in a state of awe and jealous over the terrifying recovery power that she had only ever seen during the battle between the cave troll and the cave alligator, a cave troll that had later evolved into a berserk cave troll.
The terrifying regenerative power even made her think that the rage bull was the evolved form of the berserk cave troll that she had encountered back then, but… The difference in appearance was a little too much. Although evolution could change one's appearance, it shouldn't have reached the point of transforming a humanoid monster into a bull.
At least… She didn't think it was possible…
That aside, after realizing that she had no way to do any real damage to the rage bull even with her lightning magic, she decided to instead bait the rage bull towards Fish Stone City. Planning to make use of the powerful adventurer guarding the city to injure it before following up with another powerful attack that would then finish off the tough nut that was the rage bull.
Strong as that powerful adventurer was, her observation so far told her that even that powerful human mage wouldn't be able to kill off the rage bull in a single attack.
Whoosh~
Putting her plan into action without the slightest bit of hesitation, Scaly slowly began making her way in the direction of Fish Stone City while keeping up her battle with the Rage Bull, something that was far from simple after she had lost her ability to fly. Ending up with her being hit by it another two times before getting close enough to the barrier of Bright Stone City.
Now, the problem became how to trick the rage bull into charging into the barrier, but that problem was easy enough to solve, as she simply used her recently learnt water mist ability to obscure herself the second the rage bull came charging towards her. Diving out of the way just in the nick of time while the rage bull continued straight past her without realizing that she was no longer in front of it…
Rooar!?
BANG!
Rumble~
And by the time that the rage bull realized that it was charging straight at Fish Stone City, it was already too late, as it crashed into the barrier. Unable to stop, it barely missed an adventurer who saw his own life flashing before his eyes when the massive monster came flying out of the mist at him.
Looking at this scene, Scaly glanced up towards the powerful adventurers observing the battle from the spiral staircase and noticed that the commotion had indeed drawn their attention. Now all she had to do was wait for the powerful human mage to launch an attack on the rage bull before she could dive in for the last hit and finish off the rage bull.
Huh? He's looking away!?
However, contrary to what she expected, the powerful human mage merely glanced over towards her and the rage bull for a few seconds before turning away. Leaving her in a brief state of confusion before understanding the situation, it was clear that the powerful human had somehow managed to see through her scheme and had now disregarded the situation entirely and instead turned his attention elsewhere.
This…
Not knowing what to say, as she hadn't expected her scheme to be seen through, Scaly found herself wondering what to do next.
She could continue her battle with the rage bull, but from what she had seen so far, the only way to get through its defense and kill it would be to bundle all her mana together into a single powerful attack. In which case she would leave herself in a defenseless state unable to defend herself against any other monsters who might be waiting to take advantage of her weakened state now that she couldn't even fly into the air to escape.
Escaping from the battle was something she wanted to do, but with one of her wings injured. Escaping from the rage bull that was faster than herself was pretty much impossible.
So, if she wanted to get out of her current situation, she would not just have to deal with the rage bull but also had to find a way to potentially distract the monster horde around her from attacking her.
But… Something that can distract the entire monster horde is… Only that city… If the barrier breaks, those monsters targeting me would undoubtedly be distracted…
Feeling her attention slowly drifting towards Fish Stone City, Scaly realized that the only way for her to get out of her current situation would be for her to deal with the rage bull and the barrier protecting Fish Stone City at the same time.
Coincidentally, the rage bull was currently still getting up after having collided head on with the barrier and seemed to be fending off against a few adventurers. Needing another few seconds before it could turn its attention back towards her again.
If I used my lightning magic or my dragon breath with all my mana, it might be possible to not just kill the rage bull but also break the barrier at the same time. Even if some of the monsters targeting me in the dark aren't interested in rushing forward immediately, the display of strength should at least be enough to intimidate them. After all, only I would know that my mana has run out…
Narrowing both her eyes as she thought this, Scaly understood that this would be a perfect way for her to not only kill the rage bull but also make those monsters targeting her back off and instead focus their attention on following the monster horde as it swarmed into the city that lost the protection of the barrier.
As for the powerful human targeting her after she broke the barrier? Scaly didn't really think this would happen, as that human adventurer would be far too busy dealing with the monster horde swarming into the city to even think about dealing with her.
Not to mention, if she acted fast enough, she should be able to hide herself amidst the monsters around her. Making it impossible for that human to even realize she was the one behind the attack that broke the barrier.
Feeling like her plan was perfect and not having much time to waste with the rage bull slowly starting to shake off the adventurers attacking it, Scaly immediately gathered her mana into her mouth. Preparing to use her dragon breath for the first time since her fifth evolution for the job.
Not just because she considered it to be her strongest form of attack, but also because she hadn't used her dragon breath during her battle with the rage bull. Meaning that there would be no way for that powerful human to realize that she was the one behind the attack.
Rumble~
Along with the large quantity of mana gathering inside her mouth, a faint pressure began to radiate around her, causing the surrounding monsters to retreat in fear.
But outside of that, there was no visible sign as to what was happening, as the adventurers and rage bull were completely unaware of what was happening.
Rooooaaar~!
Only when she finally opened her mouth a let out her most dragon like roar to date did the group of nearby adventurers and the rage bull notice her-
RUUUUMBLE~!
But, by that point, it was already too late, as her mana gathered into a terrifying ball of blue colored ball a few centimeters in front of her mouth before exploding outwards in a cone of blue colored fire that looked like an endless stream of water that soon enough crashed directly into the rage bull and the few adventurers unfortunate enough to stand next to it-

Causing her level to increase by two in an instant before the terrifying attack slammed directly into the barrier guarding Fish Stone City-
RUUUUMBLE~! CRAAAACK-!
The barrier itself barely holding on for half a second under the terrifying attack before breaking apart. Unable to resist against the powerful dragon breath that soon enough continued straight through the barrier. carving a path straight through the city. Destroying any buildings in its path while also taking the lives of several adventurers and others who had been standing in its path.
