Chapter 447: Guns
Olivia's screams were simply terrifying. All the glass, irrespective of how hard they were, cracked or shattered into countless pieces.
Golden light burst out of the penthouse, spreading far and wide to encompass the entire city.
This was the light of fortune and it was bright enough to be seen by ordinary humans.
At the center of it all, Kael and Olivia stood.
No, Kael was standing, Olivia was already on her knees, screaming and crying due to the outrageous amount of pain she was feeling.
Her eyes and mouth were wide open, shooting out bright beams of golden fortune energy.
Her chubby cheeks shook violently and streams of tears lined the sides of her face.
Even though she was under the power of Conqueror Mode Avatar and her consciousness should be pushed aside, she still felt the pain and acted very much like she could.
That was because Kael wasn't trying to take over her mind, he wanted that extra power, every last drop.
The golden light shone on Kael's face, showing his stern expression. He didn't bat an eye at Olivia's screams of pain, neither could he afford to care at this moment.
He was doing it for both their survival, alas, without her consent.
Kael. was perfectly aware that Olivia could die if she overused her powers to the point he was driving it to. Yet, he continued.
Right now, to Kael, the collective survival of everyone, especially him, was far more significant than Olivia's chances of coming out of this unscathed.
Milliseconds felt like hours. Ruda, Eidel, and Priya had rushed over but couldn't get close.
They almost broke their knees trying to get close to the duo. The pressure was too much, Kael would not let anyone distract him, not now.
Kael was also in a great deal of pain. In fact, he was experiencing way more pain than Olivia was experiencing.
He had so activated Conqueror Mode for himself with the sole purpose of surviving and extracting the last bit of fortune power he had in himself.
But Olivia had just one fortune energy pool which was being scraped clean at the moment while Kael had multiple other energy pools he could rely on.
It made sense that she was in so much agony.
With their combined power, Kael was overstimulating the forces of fate to work in his favor.
Even if it was just a little bit of unexpected help, it would go a long way in overcoming the approaching misfortune.

On the other side of planet Kareem, the city that supposedly sat on the origin of humanity.
This city was currently experiencing some turmoil, at least, a part of it.
A bright red beam flashed into the sky at the moment, lighting up the buildings with magic.
Strange things were happening here. Cars were floating, glass was melting, and roads were disappearing.
All was happening at once, this was the strangest phenomenon in the history of humanity, they had never seen anything like it.
And they had also never fought the kind of enemy they were currently facing.
*RADADADADADADADADA!!!…*
The sound of a rapid-fire machine gun emptying its magazines could be heard many blocks away.
A helicopter had focused all its firepower on one target.
The target?
One woman.
Diane was annoyed. Incredibly annoyed.
She had decided that she absolutely hated guns.
Her arms were raised to shield her head and eyes, allowing the bullets to bounce off the rest of her body and crossed arms.
The bullets didn't damage her skin, but they tore through her clothes. The hoodie sweater and baggy trousers she was wearing weren't made on the arkship, they were regular human clothes.
Naturally, they couldn't withstand all that firepower.
Right now, her clothes were in shreds. Her inner clothes however, the crop top and shorts she brought from the arkship, were still intact.
A bit revealing, but that was the least of Diane's worries right now.
At first, when the conflict started, Diane was just meant to stop the humans from interrupting N'bayé.
N'bayé was currently focusing all her magic power to open the 'seal'. She wasn't defenseless, but she was not immune to distractions.
In a way, Diane was helping these humans as if N'bayé actually got frustrated and lost control, the whole city could be wiped out in a single second.
Unfortunately, the humans chose to shoot first and ask questions later.
Their weapon of choice was incredibly annoying to Diane.
Most of the guns did not affect her, she couldn't even feel the bullets bouncing off her body.
But the higher power guns, especially those with serious armor-piercing capabilities, frustrated her.
How she felt was how a human would feel if he or she were bothered by flies or mosquitoes, especially when they flew close to her face.
The fired bullets caused prickly sensations on her skin, somewhat itchy. Still not damaging enough but very annoying.
But that was just one part.
Diane literally had to run after the bullets sometimes to stop them from hitting N'bayé.
Yes, she was busy chasing bullets.
The outcome could be seen from the surroundings.
Multiple buildings had collapsed, not from collision, but the shockwaves emitted by Diane when she moved too fast.
The roads looked like a giant had dragged his heavy sword through them. Diane on her own was causing more damage to the city than any bullet could.
"Fuck off!" Diane shouted at the helicopter shooting at her from above. The intense sound waves seemed to momentarily disorient the pilot as the helicopter steered away to the right slightly.
Diane brought down her hands, looked to the side to see a capsized red car a few meters away from her.
Before the helicopter's pilot could regain his focus, Diane had dashed over to the red car.
She grabbed the edge of the car's underside, her fingers easily sinking into the metal surface for a better grip.
In one motion, as if she were swinging a pillow, Diane threw the red car at the helicopter with all her might.
*BOOM!*
A loud shockwave rocked the street as the car left Diane's grip and tore through the air. In less than the blink of an eye, the helicopter was instantly destroyed, exploding into bits and pieces which flew far.
Diane had thrown the car too hard and the car itself continued flying after breaking through the helicopter.
Diane didn't care as her sensitive ears picked up the sound of tanks and multiple helicopters coming this way.
A few more were headed in N'bayé's direction too.
"Ugh!" Diane rolled her eyes. She squeezed her hands to form fists and flexed her shoulders.
"Are you done yet?" Diane asked telepathically about the red beam behind her.
"Almost," N'bayé's response came a few seconds later.
Diane sighed. She was contemplating going all out, but that would also affect N'bayé.
The fight would have been interesting for her, even if it was just to suppress herself to the human level. But the bullets just spoiled the fun.
Suddenly, Diane moved her head to the side and stretched out her hand lightning fast to catch something.
One bullet whooshed past her face and another was caught in her palm.
Diane narrowed her eyes. The familiar sensation of a hot bullet was felt in her grasp, she had caught multiple bullets like this before.
Her eyes darted to where the bullets had come from.
Up above, about three kilometers away.
One balcony of an apartment complex.
A sniper.
Diane's piercing brownish-yellow eyes grew dark. She could see the barrel of the sniper rifle very clearly and she could also see the man behind the trigger.
"What?..." The sniper was puzzled, but didn't move a single muscle. He was sure that he had gotten a clear shot.
And he saw Diane dodge and catch the bullets. How?
Then, he frowned. Through the scope of the sniper rifle, he could see that Diane was positioning the bullet she caught at the edge of her fingers.
She raised her hand in his direction, then flicked…
*BAM!*
The sniper's head burst apart like an exploding watermelon as the bullet shot through.
Meanwhile, Diane was already facing her other foes.
Her figure zipped left to right, from one end of the city to the other. Tanks and helicopters could not stand in the way, they all suffered the same fate of being crushed or shattered with a single blow.
Multiple times, Diane was seriously tempted to activate her War State and go all out.
One bash was all it would take to flatten the whole city.
"Almost there!" N'bayé warned, sensing Diane's impatience. The vibrations on the ground were getting more and more frequent.
Missiles were now being used in Diane. The attackers already knew that Diane was protecting whatever was inside the red beam and they tried to capitalize on this apparent vulnerability.
Unfortunately, all who aimed their weapons at N'bayé received the quickest deaths.
"It's open!" N'bayé's voice rang in Diane's mind right when she was ripping a tank in half.
*ZIIINNNGG!*
The red beam disappeared and a strange object flew into the sky from the hole.
It looked like a rocket, a strange rocket with glowing blue lines around its edges.
This rocket did not come from N'bayé or any of the weapons the humans had. It came directly from the seal N'bayé just opened.
If anyone with the power of fortune were here, they would feel it.
Fate had intervened.
