Chapter 445: Origin Of Humanity
Out of the many continents that Planet Kareem had, all of them were unique in their biomes and climate.
Each had long histories and had birthed different empires and federations that contributed to the collective growth of the planet's human civilization.
One of these continents had a peculiar history that had been drummed into the ears of children in their schools.
It was said that this continent was the place where humanity had originated. According to scientific findings, the first known human tribe started on this continent.
The first dynasty had also started from this very continent.
It was then from this particular continent that humans had migrated to other parts of the globe and had dominated the world of Kareem.
Although this was about ten thousand years ago, it was something that had been recorded and had empirical evidence supporting it.
How exactly humans had originated from this planet, many were not sure. Some said they were created by some higher power through intelligent design, the most scientific explanation was that millions of years of evolution had produced the human race.
However, N'bayé called bullshit.
N'bayé knew of Evolution and intelligent design. Both of them were very possible in her eyes and could explain the existence of many creatures in the universe.
But not humans. That each human unknowingly had a limit seal inside them from birth was enough reason for N'bayé not to subscribe to those explanations.
To her, humanity was not a race in the typical sense. If humans could be considered a race of the universe, then they were a race of unwilling prisoners.
They were confined to bodies that could not get stronger than a certain level and were unaware of their true identities.
There had to be another explanation for the origin of humanity, which was why N'bayé had come to this planet.
Of course, N'bayé was hoping to find some direct benefits if she cracked the mystery but she was mostly doing this to satisfy her burning curiosity.
N'bayé hardly relied on her feelings but even she could feel that something groundbreaking was hidden on this planet.
"This is the place," N'bayé said with a faint accent.
She hovered beneath the clouds with her hands behind her back. Her red robes fluttered in the wind and her eyes shone with red and blue lights.
Hovering beside her was Diane who also had levitation runes on her body. Her arms were folded as she stared at the really large city below them.
It was currently early afternoon and everyone who had work to do during the day was outside.
The figures of Diane and N'bayé were too high up and could not be seen easily under the hot sun.
But this city was standard with an airport and an army base not far from the city. Airspace surveillance systems were probably locking on to them at the moment.
Not like they cared.
N'bayé's eyes scanned the city below, looking for a particular spot. From the rising levels of magic energy around her body, one could guess that she didn't plan on landing or being subtle at this point.
"They are in the way," N'bayé said indifferently, referring to the human city bustling with life.
"Do you want to wipe them out?" Diane asked. From the way N'bay was behaving, she assumed that this thinker of a lioness was about to do something big.
And Diane had learned that just like any other creature, humanity would fight back irrationally if they felt threatened.
"No, I just don't want to be disturbed when I'm working. Can you handle any disturbance for me?" N'bayé asked. Any human who heard the way she referred to them would feel deeply disturbed.
N'bayé no longer seemed too fascinated by the activities of humans. Now, she looked at them the same way an adult would look at an ant hill. Mildly amused but not really interested in the specifics.
"Sure," Diane nodded her head. She was still wearing her hoodie sweater and matching black baggy trousers. Not exactly an attire one wore into battle.
"Do you really need to know?" Diane asked, "We've gotten the Primordial Wolf, we've gotten what we came here for.
Don't forget that there's a whole lot of problems waiting for us…" Diane was saying.
"You won't understand Diane, let's not talk too much about it. If I don't come out on time, call Kael." N'bayé said.
Diane sighed, thinking of what chore of hers she could drag N'bayé to in the future to make up for this.
"Drop me," Diane said after some contemplation.
Then, N'bayé moved.
The levitation runes on Diane's body began to fade and Diane dropped from the sky.
The sound of a heavy object tearing through the sky reverberated in a small part of the city.
Some humans were walking in the road here and many cars were driving through the road.
Those who could look up, did so to watch in shock as a human figure dropped straight down from the heavens like a celestial messenger.
With the speed due to gravity of this planet being ten meters per second, the human figure fell faster than they could have thought.
Not long after they saw the falling figure, she landed on the paved road.
*BOOM!*
A loud explosion was the result along with the rise of dust and smoke. The sewer system seems to have been affected and tremors spread through the city.
The buildings closest to the point of impact had their windows shake with the threat of breaking.
Looking over, most of the people who were there before had all run away and only those still in the buildings had not left the vicinity.
Some people were looking through their balconies or windows to see what had landed on the ground and created such a loud boom.
The dust began to settle and they were able to see a three-meter-wide crater that was a bit deep.
There was also a woman who wore a black hoodie sweater standing in the middle of this crater. Her clothes were a bit disheveled.
"Hey miss, get out of there!" One elderly man shouted from the safety of his balcony. To him, Diane had probably run into the rising dust and was looking for what fell.
Never did he imagine that Diane was the cause of the commotion.
Diane ignored the man's warnings as her head was upturned and her eyes faced the sky.
Other people who were able to see the crater from their vantage point also saw Diane. Although not all of them could call out to Diane to ask what happened, they could all see that she was looking at something in the sky.
They too, subconsciously began to look at the sky, wondering what the strange woman was looking at.
Meanwhile, N'bayé did not even give a second glance at Diane's falling figure. She knew that Diane would survive.
Instead, she was focused on the calculations in her mind.
Her eyes had hundreds of red, blue, and green runes spinning around rapidly within them.
She was looking for something, a location, a weak point.
She had studied the sewer and underground tunnel system before coming here. She had searched for strange findings. She had searched for abandoned real estate projects.
Now, her eyes pierced through the layer of concrete, glass, and earth to look for something that the Internet couldn't have found.
"There," N'bayé said. Beneath the city, and beneath the sewer system, there was an unnatural number of soil layers positioned at a particular place.
These layers of soil didn't look natural at all. Rather, they looked forged, as if they had been placed there and someone had made minimal efforts to make them look natural.
Well, the soil layers were extremely hard and literally underground. It would be hard for any human to notice anything odd about this place.
Suddenly, the runes in N'bayé's eyes all turned red. No red or green runes, only red. This instantly caused her to have a devilish appearance.
But it didn't stop at her eyes. Her whole body began to light up with intricate red runes and magic circles. The light of the red runes fused with her red robe, making it look like her attire was glowing too.
The increasing intensity of the red light caught the attention of all those looking up at the sky. She wasn't too bright when compared to the afternoon sun, but N'bayé definitely drew attention.
"What's that?" Someone asked.
Before anyone could give him their opinions, N'bayé disappeared.
N'bayé turned into a red beam of light that streaked through the sky and headed straight for a particular spot in the city.
N'bayé was fast, arriving at the spot within the blink of an eye.
*BOOOOOOM!!!*
A booming sound much louder than the earlier one resounded across the entire city. This time, it felt like the land had been struck by a meteor or an earthquake.
Every single inch of the city and beyond shook and shifted. Buildings fell and windows were shattered.
Cars that had been moving on their own were flung into the air.
In all this, within her raging beam of red magic, N'bayé wore a surprised expression.
There was actually resistance strong enough to stop her from drilling through the soil layers.
She would need more than just brute force in order to break through these soil layers.
The sound of rapid response security unit helicopters was also heard. Just as she had said, distractions arrived.
Thankfully, Diane was present.
