Chapter 261: Katari Visits
Above the clouds, Xu Ying's magic shuttle had been parked here for some time.
Previously, he had felt that it would be safer if the magic shuttle was parked at low orbit.
But since Adolf had come back and told him about Kael's wish to have a meeting with him, he had brought the magic shuttle down but still kept it above the clouds.
Actually, the magic shuttle wasn't too far from the Iron Blood Shuttle.
He had come to the mountain, as that was where Kael had been living before he left to find the pocket dimension. He had expected to find Kael there but what he found was an empty space where the mountain used to be.
Baba had been stunned, after all, he had seen the mountain before, although it was not as big as the other mountains he had seen before, it was still something of immense size.
How did something so big vanish?
Their questions were answered after they saw the Iron Blood Shuttle as well as the portal leading back into the pocket dimension casually positioned where the mountain used to be.
When Xu Ying and the others tried to enter the portal, they were met with serious resistance.
Katari and N'bayé, two tier 4 lionesses had stood like gatekeepers at the edge of the portal, guarding the entrance and daring anyone to step in.
At least, N'bayé had been willing to reason with them, even telling them that Kael was unavailable for a meeting at that time.
Katari on the other hand just stood there in silence. It was as if she was hoping for them to actually make a move.
Yes, Xu Ying could see that eagerness in her eyes even though her expression was blank, she definitely wanted them to try to enter.
Seeing the unnaturally stable space around this lioness, Xu Ying was not stupid enough to fall for it.
After that day, they had been returning occasionally to ask if Kael was available but they were always sent back.
Xu Ying and the rest did not know how to feel about this, Kael was their only chance at returning back to heaven anytime soon.
Could Kael be intentionally keeping them away to make them feel more desperate? If that was true, it was definitely working.
Adolf was depressed, Alora was depressed, Wadolius was dead, Baba was traumatized, and Xu Ying was worried.
Many of them had not been unscathed in their encounter with the Primordial Lion.
Currently, Xu Ying was sitting on his chair in the command bridge of his shuttle. He had his eyes closed as he allowed his mind to sink into a meditative state.
He was not alone on the bridge, 27, his loyal aid stood behind him, naked as usual with his piercing black eyes scanning the whole bridge.
At the section of the control panels and holographic screens, multiple rats monitored or tapped on the control panels.
They constantly input data or altered the existing data into the shuttle's system interface, just as they had been trained.
Suddenly, multicolored lights flashed rapidly as one of the screens lit up with a new image.
27 frowned, he looked at the holographic screen in annoyance, expecting the alarm to be set off by an ignorant small bird as it had usually been.
However, when he saw the image of the figure being displayed on the screen, his pupils shrank in fright.
"M-master!" 27 called out in the lion language. He resisted the urge to shake his master's shoulder.
Xu Ying, still in his meditative state, frowned. His eyelids slowly rose, revealing eyes that were riddled with green and red runes that seemed maddening.
Slowly, the myriad runes died down and his regular pupils were revealed.
He immediately noticed the flashing lights as well as the foreign figure on the holographic screen.
The holographic screen was connected to an observation run at the top of the magic shuttle, it was supposed to give a clear view of all that was above the vessel in real-time.
But now, this observation rune was transmitting an odd image. A humanoid woman dressed in a pale blue short gown stood on the metal haul of the shuttle, calmly glancing straight at the observation rune as if she could see through it and the beings on the other side.
The wind blew the edges of her gown, causing it to flail wildly and mesmerizingly. Her well-toned thighs were slightly exposed, enough to draw the attention of many men, but none who watched her could think of such.
Wasn't this the same tier 4 lioness that had guarded the entrance to the pocket dimension that day?
"Hmm," Xu Ying calmed his beating heart, he stood up from his chair, straightened the wrinkles in his clothes, and moved.
"Tell the others to get ready," That was all he said to 27.
He released a bit of his power, connecting to the system of the magic shuttle and taking control of the mechanisms.
The ceiling above his chair opened up, sliding into the sides as the metal plates produced clinking sounds.
Xu Ying's blue trench coat billowed as he shot through the hatch.
27 immediately went to work, spreading the message, that one of Kael's consorts had come to visit.
Xu Ying rose out of the hatch opening, ascending like a ghost out of his grave. His feet landed on the metal surface of the shuttle, producing low thud sounds.
Right in front of him was Katari, gazing at him with an expressionless face. Her dark eyes scanned Xu Ying from head to toe, taking note of everything on his body within half a second.
Xu Ying gazed at this humanoid lioness, unsure of how to treat her. Right from time, his instincts had been warning him to be careful around this lioness.
Even though they had the same power level, Xu Ying could not help but feel insecure around her. He felt like a fight with Katari would go way worse than anything he could imagine.
So, he chose to be respectful.
"Good day, Katari, I presume," Xu Ying said.
"The King is free now, he is waiting for you," Katari ignored the greeting and went straight to the point.
Xu Ying's brows furrowed slightly but he didn't say anything.
"Okay, we'll be there," Xu Ying found himself responding to her like he was a subordinate of some kind which greatly distressed him.
Katari looked around, sensing the twelve auras that were rising out of different hatches.
"You are going to bring all of them, I suggest you warn them about their manners," Katari then added.
At this time, multiple hatches opened up as the lion youths rose out of the shuttle. He squeezed his three fists, an attempt to calm his mind and hide the fear that was rising within him.
Baba was the first to react, he suddenly wished he had not rushed out without checking who had actually come.
This was that same lioness who had her throat slit because of Isaiah. Yes, this was her.
From where he was, he could see the scar on her neck. One could only imagine the pain she had experienced during that time, that she wasn't traumatized by that ordeal was fascinating.
He had not been following Xu Ying to the portal previously so Katari never saw him and he never saw Katari.
And now, he and Katari's eyes jammed.
"Oh no!" Baba exclaimed as he took a step back, trying to fall back into the hatch.
However, Katari had already moved. Like an angel of death, she had already appeared in front of Baba with her hand stretched out.
Everything happened too fast, even Xu Ying could not react in time.
Katari snatched Baba by the neck, lifting him up and letting his feet dangle a few feet from the metal floor.
She held him like he was a powerless chicken, her eyes were absent of anything other than surging killing intent.
Baba struggled to breathe, two of his hands tried without success to pry Katari's hand off his neck, while the last hand squeezed her arm, in an attempt to push her away.
"What are you doing!?" Xu Ying shouted, he couldn't afford to lose another lion after Wadolius.
Katari didn't answer, she just held Baba up in the air, staring at him like a predator did to his prey. She squeezed her fingers slightly, causing her sharp claws to dig into Baba's neck skin.
Baba's eyes widened in horror, this lioness really wanted to kill him.
Katari's body had spatial powers flowing within her, giving her a strange physical advantage that allowed her to easily overpower Baba with one hand.
Still, Xu Ying dared not do anything drastic. Katari could easily kill Baba if she wanted to, her whole body was currently brimming with tiny space powers, ready to erupt at any moment.
One twist from her hand as it was now, and Baba's neck would instantly turn to mush under the pressure.
"Hmm, is Isaiah here?"
