Chapter 368- Demon Queen's Strength
368 Chapter 368- Demon Queen's Strength
Inside the palace of the Empress, located at the center of the capital city within the Jade Dominion, in the main hall...
"It's unexpected for the Demon Queen to come herself from such a distance, leaving her home."
A woman was seated on a black throne. Her deep silver eyes, although appearing translucent, were striking and framed by long eyelashes. Her cascading black hair gave her a regal and beautiful appearance. She gazed at her hand while the one who had referred to her stood beside her.
"I cannot leave, which is why I used soul projection. Your technique is truly impeccable, Idolse," said Morana, seated on the throne. Clenching and then relaxing her hand, she couldn't help but realize that the body she now inhabited—that of the Empress of the Jade Dominion—was far stronger than she had anticipated.
The precision with which she had acquired a body comparable to her own strength made her glance toward the woman beside her.
Idolse appeared as a young girl, beautiful in her outward appearance. However, Morana knew this was merely a facade. Idolse possessed the ability to switch bodies, though she had been stuck in a weakened form for years while searching for a stronger vessel.
The location of this body was the bargaining chip that Morana used to secure one of the strongest bodies in the outside world.
As the ruler of the Demon Continent, Morana was surrounded by sanctums on all sides, preventing her from leaving her domain casually.
Soul projection, a technique that allowed her to project her soul and remotely control a body, which had been arranged by Idolse as part of their deal.
Idolse had been provided with the exact location of a blind girl named Zhen'er, who lived in the lower town of the Jade Dominion by Morana. Through this deal, Morana finally gained the opportunity to roam freely outside her homeland.
"But achieving such a feat from such a great distance is remarkable. Even if this body is destroyed, your soul remains unharmed, correct?" Idolse gave a small smile, her eyes closed as she looked toward the Empress of the Jade Dominion—a body that should have been hers.
However, due to her inability to be compatible with any body other than the one she currently inhabited, she felt her own technique was more of a curse than a blessing.
"Yes, though I don't expect an answer. But how did you achieve this?" Idolse asked, her tone thoughtful. She wondered how the Demon Queen had managed to project her soul, control a body remotely, and keep her original body intact and functional. The merging of their techniques had allowed Morana to accomplish this feat, and Idolse was eager to understand how.
"The Rakshasa technique. And now, leave before they arrive," Morana said, her hands resting on the armrests of the throne. She tapped her fingers calmly, as if the fear of death no longer concerned her.
Her focus was now on playing with those who were approaching, as well as satisfying her curiosity about meeting her potential husband.
After all, she was a woman of her word and intended to fulfill her promise to marry Ryuk Devereaux, which she had given to Alisia Devereaux.
"I will take my leave, then," Idolse said with a smile. Her figure began to blur, and within moments, she vanished, teleporting out of the continent entirely.
Using one of her techniques, she could traverse intercontinental distances with ease.
Now that she had secured her new body and fulfilled her side of the bargain, she would focus on her next assignment.
"He must be around 18? A child with potential," Morana mused, resting her elbow on the armrest of the throne and supporting her face with her palm.
She gazed toward the entrance of the grand hall, sensing a familiar energy approaching.
Her feet tapped lightly on the floor as she patiently waited, her eyes fixed on the door.
Krieek
Finally, the lid slid open. Given the enormous size of the door and its construction of stone, the sound of its opening resonated in the place.
A smile curved her lips as she saw a mask, with amber eyes peeking through the gaps of the door, as the black suit and familiar face within the mask came into view.
Considering her status as demon queen, anyone to whom she bestowed the power had the ability for her to see things through their eyes. When she sent her butler to deliver the gift she wanted to bestow upon him, she saw his face.
In terms of appearance, he was decent, but the question was whether his strength would also be up to the mark.
"Sending an aphrodisiac to someone decades younger than you—does the demon queen not have any sense of basic etiquette?" Ryuk uttered as he entered, his hands resting in his pockets as he observed the premises. He found only a woman seated on the throne.
Considering he seemed alone, he narrowed his gaze at the woman before him. "My bad, I forgot that demons don't have basic sense to begin with."
"I commend you for provoking me," Morana stated, her eyes and face—which belonged to someone else—flickering. With a smile and a blink, she appeared behind Ryuk's back, her fingers stretching as she traced the edge of his shoulder. "But, as a wife, I have decided to forgive you this once because...."
Her words hung in the empty hall as a smirk formed.
Then suddenly, her hand stretched, racing toward the empty space that was shattered like tiny shards of glass, with claws attempting to grab someone's neck.
However, her wrist was halted in mid by some force, stopping her from reaching the slender neck of a woman whose golden eyes widened as she stumbled back.
On the other hand, Morana's words continued to linger in the hall, "As it was not you who said it personally."
'!?'
"Three women, two children—aren't you endangering too many lives, Ryuk Devereaux?" Morana tilted her head, a grin forming on her face as her eyes observed how the first thing these people did was cast an illusion on her.
But now, between her and the illusion caster stood the same man grabbing her wrist, while in the hall room, two children and three women—including that illusion caster—were present.
"I believe you just want to test me, not hurt others," Ryuk stated, his eyes looking toward the woman in front of him, who was truly beautiful, despite the smirk on her composed face.
He glanced in the direction of the throne, where a malnourished woman was moving unnoticed, allowing him to stretch time here.
"Hurt? You really—?!" Before Morana could state something, she felt her internal energy rapidly nullified, drying and turning into nothing.
With widened eyes, she looked toward her wrist held by him and then turned toward his face.
Through the mask, there appeared a hint of sweat trickling down his cheek, causing her smile to falter. "Do you know why I chose this body, Ryuk?"
'....System, how is she generating so much energy?' Ryuk thought. While nullifying her energy, he felt a toll on his body.
His stamina was rapidly draining; although he was nullifying her internal energy much faster, it felt as if he was an artificial sun trying to evaporate a planet filled with water—while it was possible, it was exhaustively difficult.
He sensed that even if he nullified all her internal energy, due to exhaustion, he would find himself in a rather critical situation.
This critical situation arose because he sensed not only internal energy but a direct link to demonic energy, as the source of that energy within her body was as strong as the internal energy.
This led to confusion, as even the spiritual veins within the Inner Pavilion didn't possess this much energy.
