Chapter 3: Training...
~ The next day, Hayatou's Pov ~

After everything I went through yesterday, I decided to rest and start today instead. I don't want to potentially damage my young body by straining myself. I headed out to one of the local training fields that I remembered.
After a decent walk of 15 minutes, my body was already warmed up and ready to go...
'Alright, today's officially my first day of training... What do we do first?'
[According to your body's specification, I can give you a parameter of what your limits are, your recovery rate and such... To begin, we start by a 10 lap jog around the field.]
I exhaled, stretching my limbs. A simple jog to start—easy enough.
As I took my first steps, I immediately noticed the difference. My body felt lighter, my movements more fluid. It wasn't some drastic power-up, but the efficiency from yesterday's reconstruction was definitely there.
By the third lap, my breathing remained steady, and my strides felt natural. By the seventh lap, I started to feel a bit of strain, but nothing too concerning.
By the tenth, I was definitely winded, but not completely out of breath.
[Endurance levels have improved by 5.2% since reconstruction. Muscular fatigue is present but within acceptable parameters.]
I placed my hands on my knees, catching my breath. Alright. So far, so good.
'What's next?' I asked, wiping sweat from my brow.
[Now we move on to strength conditioning. 50 push-ups, 50 sit-ups, and 50 squats. This will provide a baseline for muscle adaptation.]
I groaned internally. Of course, it had to be the basics.
Still, I wasn't about to argue. If I wanted to survive in this world, I needed to get stronger—fast.
Dropping to the ground, I started my push-ups. At first, they felt easy, but by the time I hit 30, my arms were practically burning. Still, I pushed through, gritting my teeth until I hit 50. Typically, it wouldn't be hard to do just fifty push-ups considering the world I'm living in, but I had to do them the way N.E.O instructed, which was super slow.
It's like each push-up was meant for max level of efficiency, or at least to get the greatest results...
Sit-ups were next, and those went by a little easier. But the squats? By the time I finished, my legs felt like absolute lead.
[Physical adaptation progressing. Initiating efficient Recovery mode. Your body is currently at 78% efficiency.]
I flopped onto the ground, panting. "Damn… this is gonna be rough."
But despite the fatigue, I smirked. This was progress I guess.
However, I felt my body warming up... Tingling even, as if every aspect of my was recovering multiple times faster, but I was feeling a bit hungrier too. But, my body, it was practically in tip top shape, no, it was even better...
'H-Hey, N.E.O, did... Did you do something to me?'
[Yes... Don't be alarmed; I simply accelerated your muscle recovery levels, as well as helped in rebuilding the torn muscles in a more efficient manner...]
This was huge! Training that would normally take months to show results could be compressed into weeks, maybe even days if done right.
A slow grin spread across my face.
'Alright, that's actually kind of awesome.'
[Now, redo the earlier workout. This time, increase intensity—11 laps, 55 push-ups, sit-ups, and squats.]
My grin faltered. '…You just fixed me, and now you want to break me again?'
[Correct.]
I groaned a bit, but pushed myself up. No complaints—this was what I signed up for I guess. If I wanted to survive, I couldn't afford to be weak.
Taking a deep breath, I started jogging again.
This time, I felt a tiny bit of a fraction faster.
My strides were much smoother, my breathing more controlled. I wasn't some superhuman, but the difference was noticeable. I could feel it—each step was slightly more efficient, like my body had been fine-tuned.
'This is absolutely insane…'
Actually, an idea struck me—one that could make keeping track of my progress way easier.
'Hey, N.E.O., is it possible for you to create some kind of progress tracker? Like a status screen in a game?'
[...It is possible, host. However, I do not recommend it, as relying on numerical representations may create a psychological barrier. You may train less effectively once you perceive yourself to be "strong enough" or when progress appears slower at higher thresholds.]
I rolled my eyes. 'C'mon, I won't get lazy. Just keep it simple—no unnecessary clutter, just a straightforward breakdown.'
[Understood.]
A second later, a faint, translucent HUD materialized before my eyes, a simple gray interface with clear, minimalistic text.
It was exactly what I wanted.
Name: Hayatou Riki
Age: 8 / 94.2 Years Old
Height: 141.2 cm / 174.3 cm
STR: 1
PHYS: 1
AGI: 1
C-C: 35.4 / 35.4
C-D: 1
[This format should suit your needs. A brief explanation: Strength (STR) represents your physical load-bearing capacity—essentially, how much force you can exert. Physicality (PHYS) measures endurance, stamina, and bodily resilience, including pain tolerance and overall longevity. Agility (AGI) dictates movement speed, perception, dynamic acuity, and reaction time. Keep in mind that certain stats affect others...]
I nodded along, absorbing the information. 'Not bad… But why are all my stats just one? And what's C-C and C-D?'
[Stats begin at one for simplicity. For a numerical increase to register, you must improve by at least 15% in that attribute. Each increment is multiplicative, meaning every point represents a substantial leap rather than a minor boost. As for C-C (Chakra Capacity) and C-D (Chakra Density), they represent your chakra reserves and the concentration of chakra within you, respectively.]
I frowned slightly. 'So, wait. If every point is multiplicative… does that mean a single jump in stats is a huge boost?'
[Correct. A strength value of 2 would mean you are approximately 1.15 times stronger than before. By the time you reach 5, your physical power will have increased severalfold.]
'I see. Thanks for the help, N.E.O.'
My eyes scanned the HUD again, focusing on the details. The height section was interesting—it showed both my current height and what appeared to be my biological limit: 5'8" (174.3 cm).
Not bad. Pretty average for a ninja, but at least I won't be stuck as a runt.
The age section, though? That was far stranger. It displayed 8 / 94.2 Years Old.
Nearly a century…
I had no idea what that meant yet, but I decided not to dwell on it. For now, I'd just keep an eye on it and focus on what actually mattered—getting stronger.
Before I could think too much, N.E.O. interrupted my thoughts.
[Host, we do not have all day to idle. Our objective is to increase each of your stats by at least one every day for the rest of the month. To achieve that, you must repeat these exercises several more times.]
I almost choked hearing what he just said, 'One point per day!?'
I now knew the stat system wasn't linear, meaning every +1 was a significant increase. If I managed to keep up with this, I'd be… terrifying in just a few weeks.
But at what cost?
'N.E.O., are you sure that's even possible? Wouldn't my body just collapse from overwork?'
[Negative. With my support, your recovery rate will sustain the growth process. However, you will require substantially more food to compensate. Be prepared for increased hunger and fatigue in the short term.]
I groaned. That made sense. I'd have to start eating like Choji if I wanted to keep up with this.
Still…
A full stat point per day?
That kind of progress was insane.
I cracked my knuckles, glancing back at the empty training field...
'Alright, fine. Let's see if I can handle this insane training regiment.'
Taking a deep breath, I got back into position, 'Alright me... Time to grind.'
