Regression of the Genius Extra

Chapter 78: Chapter: 78, Girl in Memories

After Silas left, Laura stood there for a second, feeling the coldness with a small smile of satisfaction. She closed her eyes and remembered the distant past.

In a manor filled with gloomy activity of the maids, a woman wearing a black and white dress was brewing tea while a maid was standing beside her, holding a tray.

"Is it really okay to leave the young master alone, Madam?" The maid asked with a troubled face.

The graceful woman took a sip and said, "Don't worry, Laura. He's a Graves, a Pure-Blooded Graves. He won't get ruined over something this insignificant."

Laura turned silent, with a troubled look. Her madam was so calm, knowing that her son just awakened the weakest and trashiest class just a week ago.

Awakening a class is said to be the most important thing in the world. Something that could make a toad soaring to the sky, and make a phoenix crashing to the underworld. A genius can instantly become trash and a trash can instantly become purer than Adamilume.

"Ignore him for now. He'll get back to normal soon enough. You said you'll leave to pursue your career, right?" The madam said.

"Yes, I'll leave within a week." Laura bowed and replied calmly.

"Good. Contact the butler for your severance and while you're still here, keep an eye on the twins." The madam said and allowed her to leave.

"Yes, Madam." Laura bowed and left the wide balcony.

After walking for a few while, Laura came across a little girl standing in front of a door.

"Oh, c'mon! Stop being a whiny kid and grow up!" The little girl shouted at the door with a furious look.

Laura got close and asked, "Um… young miss? What are you doing right now?" The girl looked up at her, her eyes covered by the ebony bangs and soft and puffy skin.

"Oh, Laura! You're here! Can you break the door?" she asked.

"Hmm?" She looked at the girl with confusion. But the girl didn't have patience and shouted, "Quick! We have no time!"

Laura, still confused, reluctantly put a hand on the door knob and with a tight clench of her palm; the knob disassembled into many different pieces that were shaped like a puzzle. Then, with a gentle push, she opened the door.

She then used [Telekinesis], a common B-tier skill taught to every maid in the Graves Family. The puzzle pieces floated in the air and Laura was fixing the door knob when the little girl rushed inside and got close to the bed.

She pulled the bumpy blanket, leaving a young man with similar looks to the girl, lying on the bed with his head resting on both of his arms and looking directly at her with a cold and emotionless expression.

Both of them stared at each other for a while before the girl said to Laura, "Laura, fix the door and leave. And make sure nobody disturbs us."

The boy didn't say anything and looked up at the ceiling. After ordering Laura, the little girl climbed up the bed and sat on the boy's stomach.

Laura hummed in agreement and finished fixing the knob before leaving. She heard a few words said by the girl, "Silas, why do you…."

"Thud!" The door closed behind and Laura came back to the present.

Now she looked around and heard the distant voices of the departing adventurers. She went near the window, watching as one by one, every adventurer departed to meet their family and loved ones.

She also saw Arnold's party, talking to each other, and she sighed with helplessness. 'If only I wasn't cursed, your mission would've been easier, young master.' She thought and went back to her desk and worked on the next documents.

Below, on the white surface, Arnold's team talked to each other, "What do you think you'll do in the meantime, Arnold?" A member asked, and everyone else looked at him with eager eyes.

Arnold gave them a sheepish smile and said, "I was about to announce it when the time was right. But I guess we'll speed up the date."

He took a deep breath and announced, "I am getting married! We'll decide on the date soon, so you all need to attend!"

Everyone looked at him with stunned expressions, before they all cheered with excitement and genuine smiles.

"Oooh!!! You're quite Sly, boss!"

"Yeah, I didn't expect you could keep something in your stomach with that mouth of yours."

"Congratulations, Boss! Who's the bride?"

"Yeah, Who's our soon-to-be Sister-in-law~~?"

Arnold rubbed the back of his head with a smile on his face and spoke with embarrassment, "Oh, c'mon. Stop teasing me. Don't worry; I'll introduce you to her soon. Anyway, she must be waiting for me, so I need to leave soon. You all should also head back."

"Ohho~ It seems the groom can be clingy~~ the bride must be annoyed with him right~~?" the female members all teased him in unison.

They chatted for a bit longer before everyone decided to head back.

Joe stood in front of the adventurer's guild, looking at the people she's become so close to now leaving to meet their family and loved one's. But now, she was alone.

She has no family she wants to return to, after all, an Orphanage can't really be considered a real family. But for now, It was the closest to a family she has left in this world.

She turned towards the familiar directions and walked ahead as the golden light of the evening sun reflected on the white surface.

**

At night, the darkness covered the entire Kribus Forest. Haunting murmurs of small bugs drowned the eerie silence.

On the ground, broken trees had fallen, with chunks of pieces scattered all around the place.

A fierce and majestic bird seemingly level 30 or something, was sitting near a pile of black substance. It looked at it with curious but furrowed eyes, looking as if it smelled something foul.

As if sensing something appear, it quickly flapped its wings and tried to fly far away. But, 'something' grabs its legs in midair.

The bird flapped faster with more force as it looked behind. It saw a black limb like human hands grabbing its legs.

The familiar human hands seem to be made out of the very familiar black substance it saw before. It cried out one last time before the limb made out of black substance completely devoured the struggling bird.

On the ground, the black substance began to tremble and slowly move. It all slowly gathered to a single point before merging into a small orb.

The orb then trembled wildly and its shape began to change. Slowly it used the black substance to shape out wings, beak, feathers, eyes and legs. At the end, the black orb turned into a sculpture of the devoured bird, but was made out of the black substance and its eyes were eerie crimson red, giving off a menacing aura.

It flapped the black wings, and surprisingly, it flew up in the sky, trying to reach a certain direction…..
