Reborn With The Milf "Harem" System

Chapter 82: Operation: Renji

Rika flipped the notebook open on the table, her pen tapping rapidly against the page.

"Alright," she said. "We've got exactly seven days before his birthday."

They were gathered in Reina's apartment again, a small, warm space filled with the smell of chamomile and the faint sound of rain outside. Mayumi was sprawled across the couch, sipping orange juice through a straw like it was wine. Reina sat beside her, ever composed. And at the corner of the table, Saki sat quietly, the faintest smile playing on her lips.

Rika sighed. "He's been suspicious already. I think he might've seen one of us the other night."

Reina chuckled softly. "If he did, he's pretending not to. That boy's sharper than he looks."

"Boy?" Mayumi teased, raising a brow. "You sure that's what we're calling him these days?"

That earned her a round of amused glances. Even Saki let out a small laugh, soft, genuine. "He's definitely more… mature than most of his age," she admitted, her voice calm and distant. "Sometimes I forget he's a student."

Rika looked over at her. "You've been quiet, Saki. You okay with this whole thing?"

Saki blinked, looking up. "Hmm? Oh — yes. I just…" Her gaze softened. "It feels strange. Planning something for him like this. After everything he's done for me."

Reina's expression warmed. "That's exactly why we're doing it. He's always taking care of everyone else. It's our turn."

Mayumi nodded, sitting up straighter. "So what's the plan, boss?"

Rika smiled, that half-serious, teacher-like smile that always meant trouble. "We're throwing him a birthday he'll never forget. But…" She tapped the notebook. "It has to stay secret. Renji's got instincts like a bloodhound."

Reina chuckled. "Then we better use that against him."

Saki tilted her head. "Meaning?"

"Meaning," Reina said, her eyes glinting mischievously, "we'll make him think nothing's happening. Just another week of school. Normal days, no hints. Meanwhile, we'll be working in the background."

Mayumi grinned. "A stealth mission. I like it."

Rika closed the notebook with a decisive clap. "Exactly. Each of us takes a role. Reina, decorations and location. Mayumi, food and music. Saki…" she paused, smiling softly, "you handle the invitations. You're the calmest among us.... you won't slip."

Saki nodded slowly. "Understood. And you?"

Rika leaned back, her eyes glimmering with a secret amusement.

"I'll keep Renji distracted."

The room went quiet for a second, then Mayumi burst out laughing. "Oh, I bet you will!"

Rika threw her a glare, but her cheeks betrayed her with a faint flush.

Saki covered a soft giggle with her hand.

"You two haven't changed at all."

Reina smiled knowingly. "That's what makes it work."

Outside, thunder rolled, a distant, soft rumble that matched the excitement rising in the room.

Their plan had begun.

And none of them realized just how much their little "surprise" would change everything.

---

By Thursday, Renji could tell something was up.

It wasn't just the weird silences. It was the looks, fleeting glances exchanged between teachers, the faint smiles Rika tried to hide whenever he passed her in the hall, even the way Reina avoided lingering too long in the infirmary with him.

Hell, even Saki was acting different.

She still talked to him during breaks, still carried that calm aura of hers but there was a kind of spark behind her eyes now. Like she was carrying a secret she couldn't let slip.

And for someone like Renji Sakamoto, secrets were like catnip.

He leaned back in his chair, arms folded, watching the classroom bustle before the next period.

Kai was goofing off in the corner, teasing some girl about her handwriting.

Aki was reading, of course.

Renji? He was staring at the window, lost in thought.

"Yo," Kai nudged his shoulder, grinning. "You've been zoning out lately, man. What's up?

Renji smirked. "Wouldn't you like to know."

Aki didn't even look up from his book. "If he's quiet, it means he's planning something."

"Or someone," Kai added with a laugh.

Renji chuckled lowly, shaking his head. "You two talk too much."

The bell rang.

As students filed out, Renji stayed behind a moment longer. His phone buzzed, a message.

Rika:

"Can you drop by the staff room after class? Need a quick word."

Renji's lips curved into a knowing grin. "A quick word, huh?"

He slung his bag over his shoulder and muttered under his breath,

"Every time she says that, it's never quick."

And it will never, ever be quick

---

By the time he reached the staff room, the halls were nearly empty. He knocked once before stepping in and sure enough, Rika was there, pretending to sort papers, though her hair was slightly tousled like she'd been rushing.

"Hey," he greeted casually.

She looked up, startled, just for a moment then composed herself with that teacherly grace.

"Renji. I was just— organizing things."

He arched a brow. "Looks like you've been organizing chaos."

"Watch your tone," she said automatically, but her lips twitched.

He stepped closer, lowering his voice.

"You've been avoiding me this week."

Her eyes flicked to the papers again. "You're imagining things."

"Am I?" He smirked. "You, Reina, Mayumi even Saki all suddenly acting like I've got the plague."

Rika froze for half a second.

"Something's up," he said quietly. "And you're not good at lying."

She met his gaze, firm, but her pulse betrayed her.

"Renji… you'll find out soon enough. Just trust me, alright?"

He studied her for a long moment, then smiled faintly. "Trust, huh. I can do that."

As he turned to leave, he paused by the door.

"Just don't forget," he added softly, glancing back at her, "I notice everything. Cause I care about all of y'all."

Then he left, his calm footsteps echoing down the hall.

Rika exhaled the breath she didn't realize she was holding.

She looked down at her papers at the hidden envelope tucked beneath them with his name on it.

"Happy birthday, Renji."

A small, secret smile crossed her lips.

---

The moon hung low over the quiet city, washing the streets in a silver calm. Inside a cozy apartment near the academy, three women sat around a small dining table scattered with notes, receipts, and half-empty teacups.

Rika.

Reina.

Saki.

Mayumi wasn't around.

Each had a different kind of seriousness in her eyes, one of excitement, another of quiet worry, and the last… warmth.

Saki twirled a pen between her fingers.

"So… it's settled, then?"

Rika nodded, crossing her arms. "Saturday evening. The venue's booked, the decorations are handled, and the surprise coordination is locked in. He won't suspect a thing."

Reina smiled gently. "He already suspects something."

Rika sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Of course he does. He's Renji."

That earned a soft chuckle from Saki. "He's always been perceptive. Even before—" she caught herself, pausing, "before I came back."

Reina glanced at her, understanding passing quietly between them. "Don't worry. He might sense something, but he won't piece it together. Not this time."

Rika looked at them both, her voice softening. "We're really doing this for him."

Saki nodded slowly. "He deserves it. After everything."

Reina poured fresh tea into their cups. "He's given so much to each of us in his own way. Maybe it's time we gave something back."

Rika smiled faintly at that. "I just hope he doesn't faint from shock when he sees all of us together."

Saki smirked, her usual reserved demeanor slipping into mischief. "You mean when he realizes all the women he's been helping suddenly get along?"

Reina laughed softly. "That will be a sight."

The room filled with a rare, lighthearted silence. The three women, plus one, so different, yet tied together by one stubborn, infuriating, endearing boy, shared a moment of calm before the storm they were preparing.

Outside, a gentle breeze brushed the windowpane. Inside, the faint glow of the lamp cast warmth over their faceseach carrying a different form of affection for the same man.

Rika leaned back, exhaling softly. "Alright, ladies. We've got one day to make sure this goes perfectly. No slip-ups."

Reina nodded. "I'll handle the catering and logistics."

Saki smiled quietly. "And I'll take care of the invitations and the small touches. Something personal."

Rika looked from one to the other and for the first time in a long while, she didn't feel like she was competing for Renji's attention. She just felt… grateful.

"Let's make him smile," she said simply.

Saki looked at her, eyes softening. "We will."

As the clock ticked closer to midnight, their planning continued, laughter breaking through the calm now and then. But none of them noticed the faint buzz from Rika's phone, lighting up the table.

Renji Sakamoto:

"Couldn't sleep. You guys wouldn't be talking about me, would you?"

Rika froze. Reina and Saki both leaned in.

Saki chuckled quietly. "He's definitely starting to catch on."

Reina smiled, typing quickly before Rika could even react:

Rika Shoku:

"Go to sleep, Renji. You'll need the energy for whatever chaos tomorrow brings."

There was a pause. Then his reply came through:

"You sound suspiciously calm, sensei."

"Goodnight, Renji."

"Night, Rika. And whoever's reading this over your shoulder."

The three women looked at each other and burst out laughing.
