Chapter 44: Chapter 43
Fang Mo's attention was immediately captured by the prompt, prompting him to glance downward with curiosity.
Among the fallen Asgard soldiers, one corpse stood out from the rest. While the others wielded long swords, this particular soldier grasped a spear.
Although Fang Mo had previously attempted to interact with the long swords, no new modules were activated as a result.
After contemplating for a moment, Fang Mo commenced his examination of the various Asgard soldier corpses.
It didn't take him long to stumble upon a soldier clutching a battle axe. Eager to verify his hypothesis, Fang Mo reached down and touched the weapon.
In an instant, an electronic sound resonated through his ears.
[System Prompt: The structure of the 'Asgard Battle Axe' has been analyzed, granting you 12% new module download permissions.]
Fang Mo's realization struck him upon hearing the electronic prompt.
He proceeded to search among the fallen soldiers, carefully touching any unfamiliar weapons he encountered. Soon enough, the system's voice echoed once more.
[System Prompt: The structures of 'Battle Axe,' 'Spear,' 'Dagger,' 'Short Scimitar,' 'Broad-bladed Sword,' etc. have been analyzed, granting you new module download permissions.]
[System Prompt: Tinker's Construct weapon add-on module download initiated.]
With the successful acquisition of the new module, Fang Mo left the underground space feeling contented.
It must be acknowledged that Steve's ability proved incredibly convenient. With meticulous precision, he had collected and rearranged the excavated blocks, leaving behind no traces of their disturbance.
As Fang Mo departed from Asgard's Treasury, the tumult caused by the Frost Giants had subsided.
After all, this was the Asgardians' stronghold, where the cunning Frost Giants stood no chance against the overwhelming might of the Asgardian warriors.
Seizing the opportunity presented by the conclusion of the battle, Fang Mo skillfully wielded the Hellish Sword, slaying two Frost Giants and simulating assistance.
However, just as the last of the Frost Giants were vanquished and the Asgardian warriors breathed a collective sigh of relief, a chilling roar resounded from a distance. In an instant, a brilliant light bathed half of Asgard's sky, startling all who beheld it. Every gaze turned towards the source of the commotion.
What they witnessed was the Bifrost Bridge's palace spinning rapidly.
Ordinarily, the Bifrost Bridge would activate briefly, creating a space-time tunnel through which individuals could traverse to other planets via a luminous beam.
However, if the Bifrost Bridge remained continuously activated, its immense energy beam would relentlessly pummel the surfaces of other planets.
Over time, the overwhelming energy discharged by the Bifrost Bridge could penetrate planetary crusts and shatter their cores, thereby transforming the Bifrost Bridge into a cataclysmic weapon capable of obliterating entire worlds.
In the original story, Loki had planned to use the Bifrost Bridge to destroy Jotunheim. The Bifrost Bridge operates by harnessing tremendous energy to create a space-time tunnel. Typically, it is opened momentarily for travel across the Nine Realms, allowing individuals to reach other planets via a beam of light.
However, if the Bifrost Bridge remains active, the powerful energy beam continues to bombard the surfaces of other planets. Over time, this energy can penetrate the planet's crust, causing its core to fragment and leading to its ultimate destruction. Thus, the Bifrost Bridge becomes a weapon of mass devastation capable of shattering entire planets.
Loki was aware of this in the original story, so he used the ancient Winter's Casket to forcibly freeze the functioning Bifrost Bridge, keeping it activated with the intention of annihilating Jotunheim.
But that was part of the original plot.
Now, does Loki possess the ancient Winter's Casket at all?
Fang Mo had just been studying that artifact a moment ago, even unlocking a Thermal Expansion module. So, how did Loki manage to keep the Bifrost Bridge active?
These questions intrigued Fang Mo.
With this in mind, he flew directly toward the Bifrost Bridge's location.
Although the Ender Hand cannot control living entities, Fang Mo just uses his sword and mounted it to fly. Flying swiftly, he soon landed atop the Bifrost Bridge.
The nearby teleportation gate spun frantically, emanating an eerie aura.
From the apex of the teleportation gate, an astonishing energy beam shot into the void, undoubtedly leading to Jotunheim through the spacetime tunnel.
Meanwhile, Thor and Loki...
At this moment, the two brothers engaged in a dramatic display of sibling conflict.
While Loki clearly stood no chance against Thor, the latter seemed injured, clutching his lower back as he evaded Loki's thrusts with a small knife.
"I never desired the throne!"
Gritting his teeth, Loki stabbed Thor, exclaiming, "I merely seek the same treatment as you!"
"This is foolish, Loki!"
As Thor stepped back, he said, "I know everything is my fault, little brother. Can't you..."
"Who's your little brother?"
Loki grew even more agitated upon hearing this. However, before he could finish his sentence, a sudden gust of wind blew, and a door-like blade soared toward him.
Startled, Loki swiftly crouched down, protecting his head in a sorry state.
The blade narrowly missed his scalp, colliding with the teleportation gate behind him. It struck something, resulting in a resounding bang and setting the object ablaze.
"Oh..."
Witnessing this scene, Fang Mo, who had just arrived, was momentarily stunned.
"..."
Simultaneously, Thor turned his head and cast a glance at Fang Mo.
"Cough, it's nothing." Deliberately coughing, Fang Mo changed the subject, "By the way, what's happening with you? Haven't you regained your divine powers? Can't you even defeat Loki?"
"He ambushed me."
Thor's mental acuity was lacking, and upon hearing Fang Mo's words, he was immediately misled, "Originally, I intended to reason with him, but he schemed to steal Heimdall's sword and activate the Bifrost Bridge. I got stabbed while trying to save Heimdall."
"Did he stab your back?"
Noticing Thor's grimace of pain and his grip on his lower back, Fang Mo couldn't resist making a sarcastic comment, "Do you think Loki is jealous of Jane Foster? Why else would he keep targeting your back?"
"Huh?" Thor was taken aback by Fang Mo's words. However, in the next moment, there was a sudden jolt behind him, accompanied by more bursts of fire erupting from the teleportation area, indicating an overload or similar issue.
Upon witnessing this, Thor realized he could no longer afford to waste time.
His intention was to retrieve Heimdall's sword from the teleportation area, but Loki's interference had caused chaotic energy currents to fill the interior, rendering it inaccessible.
After much hesitation, Thor made a firm decision and raised his mighty hammer, Mjolnir, high into the air.
Yet, at that precise moment, someone grabbed his wrist.
Confused, Thor turned his head to find Fang Mo restraining him. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Thor attempted to explain to Fang Mo the need to destroy the Bifrost Bridge immediately.
Before Thor could speak, Fang Mo interjected abruptly.
"So, you want to destroy the Bifrost Bridge. But to be honest, your Mjolnir isn't suitable for such a task." With these words, Fang Mo smiled faintly, and Steve, wielding a pickaxe, appeared instantly behind him.
"Step aside and let the professionals handle it."
